Well...
since I have my membership in dlguard
and have other added scripts that are integrated with
the dlg script, it looks like I'm not going to be able to work with
the RAP program.
It's too bad that I can't find a way to integrate the two together.

David, do you know of a program that will give me OTO and affiliate
management without screwing around with
click banks evil ways...?

Hi,

Two others that you host are Simple member Pro and Rapid Action Profits.

RAP is selling as a bundle right now, with a membership and PayPal recurring billing add on that's very full featured. It will also pass protect a WP blog.

You get all that for $177? (I think that's the price I saw just the other day on their sales page.)

I noticed aMember is selling for virtually the same price ($179). Can someone tell me how it compares to Rapid Action Profits? What features are the same and which ones are different?

Is Butterfly Marketing still for sale?

Have a look at JVManager 1 or JVManager 2 Fantasos, really it depends on what you want to use it for.

Others I use and recommend are:

* EZ Content Manager

I've owned jv manager for a few years now and at first it was great. But with the upgrade to fantasos, I started having problems and the tech support was very spotty. They kept passing the buck saying it was a problem with my hosting company. I've been with this host for ten years and they've been excellant in every respect. They spent way more time on the problem then the fantasos people bothered to. We followed every direction we recieved and no luck. After it was all said and done, I felt like I waisted over $400. It's sad because I've gotten better support on products I paid $19 for than I did with fantasos.

On the few occasions I need support for JVM-2, I have always found it to be excellent and server issues are real unfortunately, I personally minimize this by using the same hosting company as the creator of the script.

DLGuard would my first recommendation because it is lightweight and very easy to implement like what has already been mentioned on this thread. The second reason would be that the new version of DLGuard whenever it is released is probably going to have a lot of the features other programs have and then some.

Now for the robust do it all kind of scripts... I looked at Fantasos, and didn't like it too much. I was comparing it to Memberspeed. While they each have advantages and disadvantages, I felt Memberspeed was the better choice.

The pricing structure of Amember is exactly why I have never used Amember.

If you want something similar to Amember that doesn't have the 1 domain only restriction, check out Kim Standerline's Easy Member Pro, and get the unlimited domains option for what you would get 1 domain for with Amember. Check the WSO's first. Sometimes she runs a 1/2 price special and you can get the unlimited version for $149.

And the support is pretty good with Easy Member Pro.

But overall, DLGuard is the most flexible and most economical.

I currently us DLguard to run all my membership sites and I'm VERY happy with the result.

It does everything I need, is extremely lightweight and easy to implement, and the support and documentation is first class.

In my opinion the documentation for Amember, together with their support, is pretty substandard.

Thanks for all the great comments and the demo for BFM Michael. The Rapid Action Profits again does not have a demo, it seems like only half these sites show you a demo, I will never get why. If thats the case I usually just skip that one.

Whats the difference between Rapid Action Profits and the Rapid Action Profits Membership Package?

I purchased the Butterfly Marketing script back when it sold for $1,500. Now, it is $1,997 for the physical package, and $797 for the digital version. While the digital version would be the way to go, it is still quite expensive compared to most other membership scripts. While BM has some cool features, I was frustrated after purchasing it to learn there are many other solutions nearly as good for much less $$$ (aMember being one of them).

Rapid Action Profits seems like a pretty cool setup. Although I haven't used it personally, I've noticed it growing in popularity among some well known marketers, and heard good things about it.

One product I haven't seen listed in this thread is Memberfire. It is supposed to be very user friendly and not require any manual script installation. There are a few recognizable names on the sales page who give good testimonials. However, like with RAP, I haven't used this product personally, and can therefore only say so much about it.

  Use Amember or WP WishList Member. I haven't tried RAP so don't know about it.

Demos can be a nightmare if not properly monitored. Doesn't mean it's not a good script.

The RAP members package is RAP plus the membership and PayPal addons combined. Handles pretty much everything you need for selling stand alone products or having a membership site.

I personally use aMember+Joomla for my membership website but I had to modify it quite a lot. It's a good option if you are running (or plan to run) just one membership website and what I like about it is the very good payment and other plugins support.

But it has some weak spots too. It lacks EU VAT taxation support out of the box, although this a major problem with most of these scripts. Not important if you have a non-EU registered business though.

It also lacks anything that could be called an easy to admin membership area. It can protect folders so you can either use plain html/php pages for it, or accompany it with a content management system such as Joomla, Drupal or Wordpress.

I wouldn't recommend it for newbies. But if you customize it, it will do a great job.

In my opinion, if someone plans to use just PayPal or another common payment processor, the simplest solution would be probably Wordpress with a membership website plugin of some sort.

Memberspeed has everything you need. OTO's, Logout Redirects, Affiliate Management, Advertisement Management, etc. Very robust. It is pricey at either $97 per month or $1997 to buy it out right, but well worth the expense IMO... if you are going to have a full scale membership site.

The older versions indeed had some security issues, although most of those were related to insecure PHP configuration and a few buggy payment plugins. I don't think there is any major security hole in the more recent versions.

Also, I suggest everyone to create (or add to if already exists) .htaccess file with the following contents and place it into the admin folder that should be accessed by the webmaster/admin only:

<Limit GET>
Order Deny,Allow
Deny from all
Allow from YOUR_IP_ADDRESS
</Limit>

Replace the YOUR_IP_ADDRESS part naturally. If you use this trick, only the specified IP will be allowed to access that directory (copy the Allow from line for multiple allowed IPs).

Just make sure the .htaccess file with this contents is placed in the admin directory only and not in the main public_html or amember directory! You can use this trick for other websites too, for example it works great for Joomla etc.
