finally a success newbie story, how I made my first $788

So all,

As you know i am pretty new here, I started by reading the forums but I really needed to 'learn' the ropes as you say.

So I bought a lot of WSO's.. with that i got a lot of information and advise about how to get started.

Granted, you do need some initial money + a domain hosting account a few websites are a must!

But.......

Once you have setup everything ure ready for the sale.

So I made first sale by building a website + selling SEO services (charged 200/each service)

Plus the owner complained about his computer backups and performance so charged him an extra 200 to set all that up. Plus the remaining amount in setting up a few software pieces.

Also got a 75/month maint contract and a once in a 3 month in office computer consultation for $450/day.

Not a bad deal as a first client.

Tips- don't give up, don't try to do stuff which you can't like for example, clickbank was for me.
Read lots of WSO's guru's are better then us for a reason. Pick up at least one good thing from them.
Apply what you read.
Reap the benefits.

My next move is to read a few good wso's on outsourcing.
After that........... sky is the limit.

Good stuff. I'm yet to make significant amount of money, yet break even. So are you saying Clickbank was NOT for you? Are you willing to share a bit more details of your SEO service? How much background knowledge would you say you have with SEO. Would other newbies be able to replicate your success?

This is just me, but, clickbank and "list building" isn't for me.
Not that I haven't tried this, every one has a list now and everyone now a days are getting too many emails anyways. Now, I am not saying people are not making money this way, it just wasn't the right thing for me.
I have read countless articles and I have bought countless WSO's about clickbank and listbuilding but all my attempts at it failed bigtime.

So, you have to identify what works and what doesn't work for you. Once I identified this, I moved on.

I read quite a few wso's on SEO and website creations. That's how I learned the techniques on how could I potentially offer these services. No, keep in mind my initial knowledge on website building or SEO was 0, so I had a huge learning curve in front of me.

Here is a secret, if ure interested in doing SEO services, outsource it completely. don't waste time in link building, concentrate on getting the business.

I have discovered a very easy way to find "amazingly talented" people who I outsource the stuff to. Maybe I'll make a WSO on it one day!! ha ha.

Here are the steps you should take:

      1) Create a website offering your services. (This needs to be a professional website, I am not allowed to post links (newbie) otherwise I'd show you my website which will blow you away, and I had it made for $50 bucks!) ;-) If you need details on this pm me and I will help you myself.

      2) Approach a few business around your home town. Its very easy. Concentrate on your approach and how it will benefit the business owner. Show him the value. Break down your numbers, it will help a lot.

      3) Don't charge a ton up front, but, concentrate on upselling on the backend (a.. monthly service charge) that will really help you.

      4) And very important don't look for short term gains, concentrate on longterm success.

      5) Finding leads! Easy, open up any local advertiser and look for what business want to how you can fill those gaps. I can give you more info, pm me.

      6) Covert and Enjoy

    Congrats on your big wins!

It's amazing what you can do if you just jump in and get started! And if you pre-design your offering to show at the meetings, in many ways the product will sell itself. Check out the Mobile marketing thread in the Offline section of this forum. The folks over there are doing really well with mobile site design.

Template Monster is one of my fav places to pick up biz sites. Good prices and pretty good selection too.

    Best of luck!

        Thank you so much.
I am still a newbie since I have a lot to learn. There's a great deal of good info out there.
Now what I have done is that I have mixed computer services in there as well.
These business owners are not computer saavy (as it turns out) so I up sell them consulting services

Yes, Zero SEO knowledge. But I had one thing, that was determination.
I still don't know much, but, know enough to get by.
Again, I outsource my work so at the end its done professionally.
      I just sold a $200 campaign.

Funny thing is I have been getting PMs. However I can't reply to them.

Please, please submit your email address and I will help you out.

First thing is I will help out any one build a website for a penny's on the dollar.

      For leads:
      1) Flyers (promotion)
      2) Yellow pages (find local business)
      3) business directories.
      Method:
Email. But be consistent you won't get response if you send out 1 email. Keep sending them out (most businesses have them listed if not, there are other ways to find out, by doing a whois)

Well done, the first $100-1000 of a new internet marketers career can be vital as it decides whether they continue or not and see if it is worthwhile!

Great success story. Am really glad to hear it. I think a lot of people get scared of offline marketing because you actually have to face people... The Internet makes it easy to hide out, you know. Another way to make money offline is to learn all you can from the WarriorForum and teach a continuing education class on all your marketing know-how at a community college. Up here where I am, you get ~$40 for a 3 hour class. Plus, if you know what you're doing, you can have instant clients after the class. Think about it, folks!

That is a really good share and definitely very motivating for a lot of people who are trying to make money online.
My general advice: There is more than one way to make money online, learn about 'em, think outside the box and treat it like a real business!
    Oh and congrats!

And after all my experimenting I have come to this conclusion.

You have to be able to do 2 things to be successful online.

      1) you have to sell a service

      -OR-

      2) you have to sell a product.

This is in a nutshell what the entire universe of IM comes down to.

Now, within this you have find your way.

No matter how you cut it, you have to do one of these things to be successful online.

      Exactly.

And if you think about it, the model is pretty simple.

It's the 'taking the action' where 99 percent fail, 1 percent make it.

Congratulations on your success. As someone said it's great that you took action and you are no longer technically a "newbie". The only way is up from here on. And the good thing is that you don't have to be limited to where you live.

Congrats on your success. Sounds like you generated your own stratgy from WSO┬┤s and its really working well for you.
The next step would be expanding. Perhaps outsourcing jobs or making them more automated.
I wish you every bit of success with your ventures.

Congratulations! I've only been doing this for a couple months myself, but it is amazing how much you learn on this forum. I've been lurking around here and learning since I decided to get into IM once I stumbled on this forum by accident one day.

I also tried Clickbank at first and didn't have much success. It didn't really seem like my cup of tea so I eventually turned to Amazon after reading various posts about it being an excellent starting point. So, I bought my a domain and began promoting Amazon products. I didn't really worry about so much about whether I was doing it "right" or not. I just wanted to have something out there to see what happened. I made about $50.00 the first month from Amazon commissions. Since then I've made $130.00ish last month and $150.00ish this month from that site. I have since started another site reviewing a different family of products in a slightly tougher competition niche to see what I can do there.

I've learned a ton about SEO and writing reviews that convert. I believe it was an excellent starting point. One of the best things about the whole experience is I love doing it! It's alot more fun than my normal job.
