BANS-is it legal according to Ebay?

Hi,

I read it somewhere on the internet about Build A Niche Store for Ebay. Build A Niche Store - Succeed As An eBay Affiliate

Because I read that someone had send an email to Ebay asking about
this kind of niche store. And Ebay reply to them said that they don't like it.

Is it legal? What is your opinions?

The problem is more with Google than eBay. Google slapped BANS sites a few months ago and mine have never recovered. They were admittedly thin sites, but did have additional original content. I've switched focus and haven't researched if BANS sites are recovering from the slap.

      Hi,

I wondered what had happened....I had a BANS site on page one of Google for six months and then it disappeared. Hadn't heard about the slap....

If the BANS script is the only script that your root domain is using, it is very likely that the domain will be slapped. Most speculate that it is due to the fact that Google sees BANS sites as sites that serve as a "bridge" to eBay with no value.

However, Google will not ban or deindex your domain if the BANS script is just a supplement script to a blog or a content site.

I wouldn't bother with BANS sites either. I gave into it a long time ago and never found it worth it. still pulls in like $3 a month .. :-P

    Hello,

I have been using BANS for a while and make a nice seccond income from it. I use BANS to compliment my forums..... seems to work.

Google does slap you if its the only thing but I have started using drupal and PHPBAY as well which is also working pretty well.

You still need to give users the experiance and I remove all the reference to ebay in my BANS sites.

    Hey guys,

    Wayne is right here:

However, Google will not ban or deindex your domain if the BANS script is just a supplement script to a blog or a content site.
The trick to using Bans or feeds in general is how you imtegrate them into your site. If you use them as the bases of your site you will most likely get slapped by Google especially. If you have content as the bases of the site, then integrate the feeds, that's a whole different ballgame.

I know I have about 8 different sites that use feeds from ebay. All of them list well in the surps, plus have over a PR 3. I've never had any trouble with them.

Nor have I had any trouble with eBay about using feeds on my sites. BANs are simply feeds.

And yes, I still make decent money using them. You just have to be in the right market like everything else, or the right niche.

The best way to run with eBay and make good commissions is by going for the more expensive products and filtering out the rest. You have to narrow down to specific keywords that match your niche market.

    Hope this helps ...

I had some BANS sites up a little over one year ago and was running Google adwords to them with success. in other words, the Ebay commissions far exceeded the ad cost.

Then google basically slapped a few of those domains and that was that. I still run ads on MSN to those domains, but since those days I have switched to Wordpress and plugins like Wordbay. In my opinion, using WP along with content sources like Caffeinated content and original content, coupled with plugins like Wordbay is the way to go.

BANS might have worked well out of the box a year or so ago, but its alot tougher now. Not to say that BANS is outdated, but for pure SEO, Wordpress with good Ebay plugins works better as far as my experience goes.

I would completely agree with xlfutur1, I started out using BANS v1.2 plus upgraded my sites with the updates and it worked for a while and as the upgrades came the script did more but it didn't necessarily do it any better.

Needless to say I now mainly use wordpress and phpBay or at least a nice juicy blog with a BANS site tucked away inside it somewhere.

I really think that the ease of use with BANS has been its demise, you can slap a site up in..............well 10 minutes and this, IMO, is where the problems arose. Google flooded with thinly veiled affiliate sites which had little SEO or content. At least with wordpress and the affiliate plugins you are required to do a little more work, I personally thing that those who use something which requires a little more work are likely to put more in anyway.

I think that the problem with BANS software is the footprint it leaves. If you use PHPBayPro or other RSS plug-ins, you should be safe. I have sites that are both Joomla and wordpress that haven't been deindexed. Some of them are nothing BUT RSS portals.
