Buying a 10K Site From Flippa, Any Tips?

Hi Warriors,

I found an established site on sale on Flippa and i'm thinking to put a serious offer in....

The declared profits are just above $2000 per month and the site in selling for around 10K USD.

The site is on a wordpress platform. It comes with a database of 30000 people and they offer a subscription to the newsletter for 9.95$ ( recurring monthly). They declared to have sold about 230 units so far.

Flippa verified their traffic stats using Google Analytics.

It seems all good but I'm always a bit skeptic.... Is this to good to be true?
What am i missing?

My plan is to take over the site operation and grow the subscriptions to a higher level of income. Obviously this would be a long term project...

What you think guys?

What kind of revenue proof are they offering? If you do make this purchase, please only use escrow ... it will protect you at least from being ripped off of having the site.

Does the seller have any feedback from previous sales?
  • I would be asking for some serious iron-clad income proof. If that means you need to do a webex and have him log into whatever is needed to prove the income proof then do it.

Also, USE ESCROW. This is a must.

    • The seller is ok with escrow.

of course I would be asking for proof of income over the past 12 months and also to see the current cash flow.

The only thing that really worries me is that there hasn't been any feedback yet about the seller as the account they have on flippa is less then a year old.

I really do not know....the biz seems ok but i can't say anything more about the seller????

  • Even at the $2000 profit per month, you end up winning. I'd be very sceptical of the database of subscribers.

Where is the $2000 profit coming from? That's what I'd be asking first and foremost. There is obvious money in the pot from subscribers - but you can build/expand on that yourself.

    • The 2K comes from the paid subscription of the newsletter at 9.95$ per month. They claim to have 227 paid subscriptions so far.
