    Congrats Kim,

Whats going to be the purpose of your new squidoo lens?

I dunno to be honest, I just set myself a goal of setting up a squidoo page for today.

I've called it Nursing Hints because I'm hoping to piggyback it onto this www.nursing-hints.com I just need to work out how

I'm thinking then of building a series of squidoo pages to mimic each product I sell on Nursing Hints. A lot of work still to do though and as Nursing Hints is partly a labor of love will probably take me some time

      Cheers
      Kim

        Great...

I rated it for you and left you a little message in your guestbook. You need quite a few of these to raise up the ranks in squidoo.

I know a bit about the site and how to tweek pages and a couple of my affiliates use it.

A lens for every one of your products is a great idea. It's easy to build yourself a pretty widespread network. I noticed that your Introduction module (the first module in your lens) doesn't appear to have a title. That is something you'll want to take care of. I would also suggest that you turn off the display ads (it's not likely you'll make any money from them and they are a HUGE distraction).

Most of the modules (and even a couple of other little surprise areas) support HTML. Using it will give you a lot more control over the look of your lens. People surf through lenses pretty fast so you must have something that visually stops them in their tracks. Else, it's just wasted effort.

        Hi Kim,

Great start...way to go girl! I did my first years nurse training about...too many years ago! I just didn't have the dedication to complete so i joined the army instead! I take my hat off to all you boys and girls out there on the wards, seriously i do!

I know you are a top writer so if you have any articles relating to this field i'd gladly set the lens up for you and add some 'secret sprinkles' to get it to really take off - free offer of course. (Have sold lenses on the old forum before, in case you were wondering does he know what he's on about!)

PM me if you'd like it done.

Take care and keep up the great work.

Just checked you out on squidoo, so I can see you do know what you're talking about sending you a pm

          Cheers

I haven't made my first lens yet as I ordered an ebook but the process crashed and took my $ without giving me the link!

Maybe I'll check out the squidoo bible instead.

      Hey Mr S,

Squidoo is great, but you need some type of ebook on the subject to walk you through the process in order not to be wasting your time.

When I started I used squidooqueen and bob the teacher, however that was a few years back so they may be out of date.

      Kim,

It would be nice if you keep us up to date on the rankings you get in the search engines.

      Personally I love those stats.

By the way, like your plr health articles very much!

  • Kim, here are two helpful Web pages you can use to "tweak" your lenses:

Health Check for Squidoo Lenses [Beta]
    Blog Ping for Squidoo Lenses

Be aware that your tags/keywords aren't useful outside of Squidoo (as of January, 2008). However, they do help drive traffic from within Squidoo.

I made mine a couple of weeks back and it was banned because it had too many links they say. Actually my lens was about different resources that Internet Marketers can use and it was linking to those resources.

In any case it takes too much time to do these lenses etc.

      Hi Kim,

      PM returned!

@faakhatri - I'd have to disagree mate. Just get yourself a system and build the lenses out the same way each time. A lens should take you no longer than 1-1.5 hours tops.
All you need to do then is add new article every 2-3 days and ping the lens. If your rss feed is submitted to aggregators it will update automatically. You should really reconsider as a properly constructed and maintained lens can be a potential goldmine that will get you traffic!

      Best,

I agree. A few hours for something that will bring you in a residual income is a bargain!

One of my affilates created his lens and pointed 7 articles into it in May 2006 and then left it. It still makes sales daily!

    Hey Kim!

Here's a video I made about how to "get in and edit it" below, but make sure you put in lots of content - at least 3 good 250-word articles. That'll help get the readers in the door

Also, use this site: SquidUtils - Utilities and Tools for Squidoo Lensmasters to help you insert Amazon items in your text layout and do other cool stuff!

    Kim,

I don't know whether I'm disappointed or relieved ... expected to click through and find a lens titled "Kim's Kewl Knickers." (Although I'm not sure if that's outside your komfort zone! )

Yeah. Squidoo is really good. I have some experience with that. I think if you do it using "doing my own stuff" it might be better because you can simply choose what modules to add

    Hey Kimmie,

Superb start. Quick tip--and I'm just trying to help because I want you to make a million dollars and then share it with me

In your opening paragraph you mention wwn.nursing-hints.com. 99% of the people out there are just too darned lazy to copy that link and paste it into their browser. My, I'm the exception--I did that and got to your site.

Here's what you can do in 60 seconds. Go to your dashboard and then to your lens. Click on the "edit button". You need to put an href thingiemabob in your text so you get an active clickable link for your site.

It's easy. Here is your first sentence...

Nursing Hints at wwn.nursing-hints.com shows you how to combat your health problems the natural way. (I can't put links in my posts yet so I had to make it wwn, not www in your link) or this post wouldn't go through--sorry.

Anyway--while in edit mode change it to read as follows (change the wwn to www before you do this):

My book, <a href="wwn.nursing-hints.com">Nursing Hints</a> shows you how to combat your health problems the natural way.

Then click on the "Save" button and then the "Publish" button at the top.

The "Nursing Hints" above is the anchor text. That's what visitors will see. But when they click on it they will be taken to your site.

Try it, you'll see what I mean. Now go make that million

I gave you 5 stars. Just to be nice :-)

What your lens miss is in my opinion information. I think you should build in 4 - 5 text modules of 100 - 200 words each. This will really help the search engines find something to rank it for.

You should also do a little backlinking to give it more pagerank. A couple of article directories, some dofollow comments and some other backlinks will do the trick. This pagerank will also drip down on the page I guess you are promoting.
