How do you go about selling squidoo lenses?

Hi

I want to sell my bundle of 5 lenses on treating eczema naturally as well as my username and gmail to go with it.

Also I have set up a posterous acount so that the following social networking sites can be updated all at once. ie. you can post once to posterous and get the same post sent to all the social bookmarking sites you want.

The following are all set up ready to go for and would be included:

Posterous
Twitter
Identica
Tumblr
Blogspot
Xanga
Wordpress

I think they have a couple of posts each.

It is set up to sell an affiliate product which can be changed new owners aff. code from clickbank or paydotcom.

I just don't have the time to develop this. I think it has a lot of potential.

The lens that I have concentrated SEO on is eczema blisters
with the other four lenses also promoting the product and linking to each other.

The eczema blister page is currently 8 on page 1 of Google and that was without too much effort. If the other pages were optimized too or new lenses were built and a few more articles written..... There is currently one article for each page on ezinearticles.com bar one, linking back to the lenses.

How do I go about selling these and what do you think they are worth? I have not earned anything yet but I can really see potential if it had a bit more on and offsite work. I just don't have the time.

I asked Flippa about selling them there but they don't allow it. On a different thread about selling squidoo lenses it was suggested to go to a auction site called sellmylens but this is no good and doesn't look like it does that anymore.

I know people are doing this but can't seem to find much help on the squidoo forums or online.

I started this through potpiegirl who posts on this forum but just don't have the time to do it justice. I know she sells here lenses but believe she does it on her own site.

Potpiegirl, if you read this I could do with some help!

Thank you.

Any help appreciated.

Is it actually allowed within Squidoo's TOS to sell one of their lenses?

First things first, I would look at clearing this up first, as there would be nothing worse than selling something to find that it is not functioning later on down the track.

Yes it is fine to sell lenses and they are easily transferred to the new owner or in my case if they wish, they can take over my user name (and then change the password) as all other stuff that goes with it has the same name (eg. social bookmark sites/blog/email etc).

I don't know how effective it is, but here is a lens, dedicated to selling lenses:

      Squidoo Lens For Sale

Try doing some networking also. Find other people in the same niche and contact them asking if they are interested.

      Good luck!

From what I can see, this only sells the lenses belonging to that lensmaster. ( I had to take off the URL as I have not posted enough posts yet to put a website name in.)

What we need is somewhere that we can all sell our lenses..... perhaps this is a business opportunity for someone. Building an auction site to sell the lenses!

After being a member of Squidoo for almost a year now, I have come to realize that when it comes to selling lenses, is there a good way to do it? Are there real data exists on lens value?

I honestly think you'd be lucky to get two month's revenue for any given lens.

I'm not sure how representative what I've heard is, but I agree with this.

As so many Warriors have discovered to their cost, when an organisation's as idiosyncratic and inconsistent as Squidoo, with the never-ending changes of terms of service, policies and procedures, and the site is technically owned and controlled by them and can be suspended or even removed by them, apparently almost on a whim, with no long-term security at all, and effectively ever-dependent on their continued grace and favour, it's difficult to find many people really looking at it as a long-term "business proposition", I'm afraid.

        Hello,

I know of another warrior that sells lenses all the time, Tiffany Dow. She had a guide about selling Squidoo lenses out. Look her up, she might have some ideas.

        Thanks

How is this different from what Google does? Squidoo's had what, maybe two "major" changes to their guidelines in the 7 years they've around, atleast that people can remember. How many algo changes has Google had?

At least with Squidoo, the original lens creator is going to have a pretty good idea if they're going to run into any snags right away when they publish the lens.

In my opinion, you run a bigger risk of buying a regular site on Flippa and having Google slap and knock you off the serps randomly versus buying a lens and having Squidoo lock it if it's already established.

          How is it similar

I'm not aware that Google has any service comparable to Squidoo, at all? Unless maybe you're referring to "Blogger", which Google owns?

If so, then I'd agree with you, that they have some commonalities, particularly regarding their inconsistent and idiosyncratic interpretations of their terms of service, whose enforcement seems to depend heavily on whether competitors flag/report pages there.

So I understand. It seems to be all the minor ones and the inconsistencies of approach that cause most people problems, though, judging by the conversations here about them.

How many times have I changed my shoes? (That has as much to do with this thread as what you're asking, and it's a more interesting subject, too).

Many of these questions, it seems to me, depend on whether you want to own, control and run your own business, or have someone else in charge, who can lock or remove "your" website whenever they want. Is this really a difficult decision?

Squidoo sometimes don't allow you to post that are ban in their server. You have also to put everything in your website, i mean you have to use all the lenses in their. Posting in squidoo is really difficult. and earning is also hard that's just me opinion.

One tool for valuing lenses is here:
    Valuation for Squidoo Lenses [Beta]

You're kind of falling into the cracks with this set of lenses, I think. Most folks on the SquidU forum won't be interested because the lenses are too "Internet Marketing" for them, and most folks here are more interested in doing this kind of thing from their own websites than on Squidoo.

It might be worth looking on eBay to see if anyone else is selling lenses on there, and how they are doing.

I think you are right. I was following potpiegirl's One Week Marketing plan and it was a LOT of work and hoping I could earn a little pocket money but nothing up to now. To be fair, she does say that having your own site is the way to go.

I am going to try another product but on a wp blog with my own .com name and see how that goes.

If others can do this, surely there is a chance for me?

I just thought I would sell these lenses as I am sick and tired of thinking about eczema blisters.....it is a good product though.

Going back on topic, if you want to sell your Squidoo lenses, there is a Facebook group dedicated to it, you might want to give it a try. The name is Buying and Selling Squidoo Lenses. Also you can offer your lenses at the Squidu forum in the Lens Spotlight section.
