Help Changing Location IN Firefox

Hello All,

I live in Medford Oregon yet when I search for a keyword and only use the city Medford as the geo modifier it is pulling up google places in Medford Massachusetts as well as Adwords from there as well.

Only if I add OR or Oregon is it showing me the places results for my area.

But it is still pulling up the organic results that are local to me.

The reason I need to change this is I am need to print out screen shots to show to local business people and this is posing a bit of a problem.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

THanks
Matt

use hidemyass.com and see if that helps.

Its an online proxy service that should allow you to browse google results without the problems that you are experiencing.

If you are logged into the search engine it might be consulting your history, going annonymous might help, I assume they are going by the IP of your internet provider, if you could just find a proxy server in Oregon.

There are ways to see results for different countries

    like using google.com.uk

or adding the ?gl=country parameter to a search url.

If the organic results are correct then it's correctly determining the location from your IP address already, so a proxy server isn't going to help. The fact that you have the same results in a different browsers also solidifies that.

What I find odd about this is that Medford OR is a larger city than Medford MA, so you would think that it would be the default. And in my current location (Montreal) searching "Medford" brings up a number of hits, the majority in Oregon - and I'm physically much closer to Massachusetts here!

    Bizarre indeed!

Yeah it is definitely bizarre. This just started happening about a week or two ago if I remember right. I was not having any problems before that.
