No Link Love

I'm trying to understand how Google works. I show links in Yahoo, Links in MSN. I have over 50 articles written on ezinearticles and another 50 written on Isnare. I can do a search, and look at all the places that point at my site. But when I run the links: command in Google, I show nothing, zero, zilch, zip,,,nada.

Can someone maybe enlighten me about how this works so I won't feel like Google is out to get me

Thanks,
Chuck

    Hi Chuck,

You shouldn't worry too much about it.

Google is the last one who'll pick up your links - that's the way it happens. I have a good number of websites and despite all of them having a decent number of backlinks, just a few are shown on Google.

But instead of getting the back-links noticed by Google I focus on earning money - and that's what counts when you do something online...

This is in done intentionally Google makes this difficult to game them.

Here is a little trick to try.

Try to leave a bread crumb trail everywhere you leave a link.

Something unique only for your website, this will not show the anchor text links but will show if you have been picked up in the index.

Then do a search in Google and see how many times that bread crumb shows.

Not a accurate method but a more reliable method of knowing if how many links you have in Google.

It's really hard to see your links for an article especially if you've chosen to write something so generic, maybe specializing and doing essentially rare articles will do the trick.

And try to post and advertise it more to other sites too.

wait until google indexed your articles... In my site, articles usually indexed after 3 to 4 hours..

I thought Google only displayed backlinks above a certain page rank level?

I'm sure this is the case because one of my sites has thousands of links to it but in Google it only shows a few hundred. Yahoo and MSN both list several thousand.

Personally, I wouldn't worry too much - check your stats and see how much traffic is coming from Google, and so long as you are getting traffic you'll do great. Keep building links from relevant sites and you will do just fine.

            All the best

Thanks for the advice all. I will definately try to quell my Googlenoia, and not take it so personally, lol - and focus on just making money. Makes sense to me.

My Psychiatrist keeps telling me I should hang out with others who suffer from Google paranoia, or Googlenoia to use the medical term. You know, help support eachother and all. So, I assure you, Google is not out to get you.

Feel better now? Me neither, but sometime late in 2009 Pfizer is expected to be putting out the first FDA approved medication for Googlenoia. I think it's supposed to treat bedwetting too, so hopefully I can kill two birds with one stone.

As for the links, Google's backlink reporting is not accurate. Just because they don't show them, does not mean they don't count them.

It's traffic that should be your main concern. As has been mentioned, G won't show all of your backlinks. And if you've only been using article marketing, it's likely the sites reprinting your articles aren't all high quality.

But you'll still get good traffic from article marketing, and it will get you links across a range of IP's (a good thing). But in and of itself, it's not really enough to rank a site well, or get significant organic traffic.

Try contacting sites in your niche and offering them an exclusively written article in return for a link either in it or at the end in the resource box.

Plus look at getting links from other sources - a few of the better directories, etc.

    Good luck

And I guess they don't really show your all back link using the command link:, but you can check all back link to your site using google webmaster tool.
