When do you shift strategy on a website?

Hi, so I've got a review site on a clickbank product. It wasn't converting, I figured it was my writing even though I think I'm a pretty good writer. Then along came the core conversion plug in and I thought I was gold. I put it on all my posts and waited. This month the site has gotten around 1600 visits. I think thats pretty good for a newer site, but still no conversions. Now I know its not my writing because my visitors are going straight to the sales page. I figured I'd convert 1-100? So I've concluded that either I have chosen non buyer keywords or the sales page does not convert. I believe in my keywords but figure people are just tire kickers and looking for a free answer even though one of the keywords is the product name. My thoughts are just to convert it to an adsense site and move on. Curious to what others think though.

    Hey Brian,

I've had similar things happen to me

It's always good to have some kind of "exit strategy" for your sites or business - in case your original plans don't pan out.

Converting it to an adsense site does make sense (no pun intended). But you can also build up the site's Page Rank and then start selling links.

I actually did that for one of my sites. Affiliates sales were dismal, but the site had some PR. Suddenly, webmasters were asking me to put up their links on it.

Another thing you may do is to convert it to a Lead Generation site. Just give away something of value for free in return for your visitor's email address.

Lastly, you can test "locking" your content. That's where you block your visitors from viewing your content until they complete some kind of offer. Just keep in mind that this last strategy doesn't work with just any content. It has to be content valuable enough for a visitor to complete an offer for.

    Hope this helps.

    Best,
    - Jay

If the offer isn't converting well with direct traffic, you might want to set up an email campaign and promote them through that funnel. 9 times out of 10, visitors aren't going to buy the first time they visit a site. I know I wouldn't.
