I had a client prospect phone last night about my transcription services. Well, he asked if I did recording also, i.e., if I would read a script and record it as a podcast and I said - no - but I'll transcribe what you record.

BIG BIG DUH - Isn't that what fiverr and outsourcing is all about? AM I AN IDIOT OR WHAT?

Of COURSE I should be offering this service, right? Then outsource it on fiverr.com!

And I just now this second realized what I'd passed up last night. What a goof..

    You suffer from an illness that's not your fault, and there's no real cure except self-awareness and experience. In some circles, it's called 'DIS' - Delayed Intelligence Syndrome. Other people have named it 'TLBCOBNIDO' - 'The Light Bulb Came On But Now It's Daylight Outside', which I like more because it has a catchier acronym.

    Remember the standard answer when a client or would-be client asks if you offer some particular service: "I can certainly handle that for you. Let me get some particulars and I'll get back to you soon with a timeframe."

    Or, you can just say, "Hell yeah, we do that!"

    Whichever's easier to remember.
  • It happens. I would call him back and try to seal the deal. I wouldn't wait either. I would just do it. Just shoot from the hip and see what happens. The worst thing he is gonna say is NO.
  • Yep call him back and say you were thinking about what he said about the recording service and you think you may be able to manage it.

    It is not one of your normal services so it will be more expensive...

    Only kidding!

    Seriously though ring him back and he will appreciate that you have
    been thinking about his project.
