Best Place to Get Domain Names???

This is like asking what sort of apple we all like to eat. Everyone is going to have a different opinion based on experience, so I can only answer for myself.

I have used several domain registrars including 1and1, namecheap, godaddy, a few australian ones, and a few others I can't remember. But I always use and recommend GoDaddy for their easy to use service and control panel. Just skip all their upsells, use a coupon code you can find by searching google, and make your purchase. They also accept paypal which I love using to purchase with online.

i think namecheap is the cheapest. thats where i buy mine. ive never looked into prices of other companies. name cheap is abou $10/year and comes with free WhoIs

I find GoDaddy is very easy and you can't go wrong.

Also Mad Dog Domains has been great to deal with... Search, Register and Transfer Web Domain Names and More

namecheap is my favorite registrar for domains. Cheap ... cheap isn't always best. Go with a flaky registrar and you could end up losing your domains.

All of them are decent - namecheap, moniker, godaddy. It all depends on what your long term plans are or if this is a throwaway, then you can start looking at the finite details for hosting and thats where it is easy to make your decision.

Very easy to use interface and simple transfers if you flip the site.

Keep your eyes open if you buy at GoDaddy. They switch your manual renewals to automatic if you don't check a few days before date. Happened to me more then once.

Namecheap for me. Easy, painless registration. I've used others, they've come a long way since the 90s (horrible back then and very expensive). One word of advice: Pick one and stick with it. Don't buy the "cheapest" of the day (because it always changes). You really don't want to be logging into a dozen different sites to manage your domains.

I'm "stuck" with two and it's one too many

(I know, I can change, just too lazy to do so).

godaddy is the most used and can be cheapest but only if you use their discount codes. Also if you ever come to sell the domain most people have a godaddy account so the transition will be less hassle.

Many internet marketers like them as they don't suspend your domain if one person complains that you sent them an unwanted email

While I like Hostgator's web hosting services, I made the mistake of buying my first domains through registry rocket (their sister site) and honestly...spent way too much per domain.

I like GoDaddy and have bought close to 100 from them, then set dns to HG hosting. The 'bullk' pricing is great, plus you can always search "G" for 'GoDaddy Coupon Codes" and save a few more buck

I love Internetbs. No BS.

They not only give you free privacy, but they are cheaper than places like GoDaddy (11.99 for a .com, I think not) and they are offshore...this has benefits, trust me.

Godaddy is cheap, google godaddy promo codes, discount codes, you will find codes to get your .com domains for less than $8 a year.

Namecheap is about $10 for a .com for a year, but it comes with WhoIS protection.

In researching available domians, I like domize.com

I vote NameCheap. I turned away from Godaddy years ago. They suck!

NameCheap gives free private registration on all orders for 1 yr which, if you use that service often, saves a lot of cash over time.

Plus, I just didn't have a good expeience with Godaddy, overall.

A registrar that I have been using for quite a while is name.com. At first I was a little apprehensive because I was so used to Godaddy, but after being forced to register (because some people selling me websites would only push to a name.com account) I was pleasantly surprised at how easily manageable my domains were. I would suggest you look into that one.

Tried godaddy in the past but my experience with namecheap has been absolutely amazing, namecheap is the way to go. I have more than 20 domains with them, cheap and easy to configure everything:-)

For me I would like to recommend hostgator.

As I've search on google, other web hosting companies such as bluehosts, fatcow it has a lot of feed back and bad reputation.

Can even cause your web site in a low ranking SEO.

Listed are my favorites in order of preference:

1) Name.com - good support, cheap (find coupons always), free whois (with coupon) and friendly interface.

2) Godaddy - just as good, but they have a lot of upsells, hidden charges and their .org and .net TLDs tend to cost much more. But I love go daddy's easy domain transfer or push system when it comes to selling domain names. As always, find coupons and you'll save a whole deal.

3) Namecheap - as good as the other two, but like someone else mentioned on this thread, they can be quite a pain if you get complaints of spam.

For beginners, I'd say go with Godaddy, it's great, very user friendly and has a whole lot of in house features, like domain parking, auctions, etc. They have a pretty quick turn around time for refunds too... for people who like to buy domain names on impulse and regret them later...

Namecheap for .com, .net and .org are decent as you get 1 year private registration if you need it also.

123-reg.co.uk for .co.uk domains are also pretty user friendly.

I don't recommend using the same company for your domains and hosting just in case something happens ( ie they go bust !) you will lose access to both at the same time.

GoDaddy is the best if you don't mind having to keep up-to-date with their coupons, which is easy if you know where to look.

Otherwise, NameCheap would be the best followed by Moniker. Fabulous is better than both if you can get their top tier of rates (which I have) but most people wouldn't be able to.

Namecheap?? Do you only get the 1st year Private Whois and then have to start paying yearly like GoDaddy.

I'm looking to transfer all my almost 100 Domains from 1and1.com.

They started having problems about 6 months ago with propagation taking DAYS sometimes 2 or 3 days.

GoDaddy is almost instant, but then you have to pay an extra $12.95 a year for PRIVATE.

NOW... 1and1.com you can't even purchase a Domain Name. It's been giving a 500 server error message for about 2 weeks... and customer support has no idea when the issue will be resolved... I'm getting the feeling the answer might be NEVER... soooo I'm looking for alternatives.
