how do the link work for an amazon affiliate?

Hi,

I like to ask few questions about amazon and hope I am at the right section.

1. I get a visitor to a product page that has my affiliate link. Would I get credit if the visitor bought another product through the product page that has my affiliate link?

2. I get a visitor to a department page (example http://www.amazon.com/toys/b/ref=sd_...node=165793011) that has my affiliate link. Would I get credit if the visitor bought other products through this page?

Any feedback is welcome.

Everytime someone visits Amazon through your link a 24 hour tracking cookie is installed on the users browser. If they buy anything through amazon within 24 hours of clicking your link, you will recieve a percentage of that.

I have had commissions from items completely irrelevant to my niche, simply because someone clicked through and decided that wanted a frisby, or a football pump, or a TV.

This is whats great about amazon, even if the product your linking too isnt being followed through with a purchase all the time, any items they purchase within 24 hours of clicking your link, you will recieve commission for.

Yes, you can get paid for the recent purchases that come in from your link.

      Answer to Question #1
Yes, if you drive traffic to your pages (with affiliate links)
and the clicks go to a product but result in a different
purchase, you will get a commission out of that. Pretty neat right?

      Here's also a tip...
Always promote your product with accessories as much as possible
because once they land on the product purchase page,
Amazon provides up-sells to accessories or related items.

So not only can you expect commission results from
the product you're promoting, but the accessories or
additional items that Amazon promotes related to
your product. I always like to 'plant the seeds'
as an affiliate marketer to get extra commissions.

If you've been in sales before, affiliate marketing is for you!!!
Regardless, it's worth a try even if you don't have the experience.

      Answer to Question #2
The good thing about Amazon is they credit you for sales for just using
their affiliate link. As long as you make sure your affiliate code is linked,
you should be fine. You'll make a lot of sales, just get the traffic
