Warriors help - I Need advice on list building

Hi warriors,

I'm pretty new to IM, I've been thinking about trying to make a few quid of the internet for a while now and I have finally taken the plunge, Most sites I have read recommend starting out by building a contact list.

So here goes... This is what I have gathered so far from trawling the internet about the best ways to build a list:

------------------------------------------

1 - Write an eBook on your chosen niche, then offer it up for free and collect names and email addresses in return for the download.

2 - Create an FAQ for anything in your selected niche and again offer people access in return for their details

3 - ad swap, this is simply you swap contacts with another marketer. This is usally done by each marketer promoting the other marketer's capture page (this way both marketers only get the active contacts from each others list)

------------------------------------------

I just wanted to know if any warriors had any other (maybe not so obvious) ideas about effectivly collecting leads that they wouldn't mind sharing? Also if anyone has any useful (prefferably free) marketing tools, they wouldn't go a miss

Your help would be appreciated,
Chaz

Other useful links I have found for lead generation (for other newbies like me to save them time - not linked because I can't post links yet!)

I use aweber for my list and PPC to drive traffic... I pay 1cent per click on the display network of google adwords... This means if your budget is 1 dollar per day, then you get 100 clicks and so on...

List swapping can only be done after you have a responsive list...

thanks mate, I think for getting started I will have to use PPC to drive traffic to my capture pages to, but in the long run I want to try and move away from PPC and onto organic results

SEO with niche/offer oriented info and capture page. Even seen this turned around as a mailing opportunity to hit those targeted lists with the email version.

Monetizing your list is never the easiest thing but you definitely have to collect the data first. And double-opt in is one of the most quality ways to go. Especially if they are long-forms

I understnad that monetizing (I always have the urge to type moneytizing..) will be diffficult and that I should try and not be pushy, ie. not sending them 'buy this now' type of emails but providing quality information as my main priority to gain trust

Theres a number of different ways you can go about building your list but I found its best to start with one strategy at time on focus on that. If you got a bit ofmoney to put into it then running solo ads in ezines are useful. Check out the directory of Ezines which gives you useful info in loads of different areas.
