Greetings!!!

I like to say that namecheap is the best place to get domains online due to the fact that you can get discounts on the domain name and free whois protection as well. You can go to http://www.retailmenot.com and type in namecheap into the search engines and you will be able to get the coupon code for buying a domain name. Also, when I was using godaddy, it used to take a very long time for my domain names to match the correct nameservers. When I used namecheap, I usually get the domain name within a hour. Also, I had heard someone say that godaddy had banned their domain name that they has purchased do to the simple fact that some people was saying spam on their website. I never heard such horry stories with name cheap.

How much is the registration & privacy? PRIVACY is what kills you. (Especially on RENEWALS.)

At Namecheap, "WhoisGuards" (for renewals) cost $7.88 for five. You can apply them however you want: one domain for five years, five domains for one year, or any other combination. Or you can buy a "single unit" for $2.88.

      No "GoDaddy tricks".

I believe there's an everlasting coupon for NameCheap - WGSPECIAL (if memory serves) - that brings the cost of WhoisGuard purchases down to $0.99/each. It worked last time I used it, anyway.

Namecheap is way better. If you want even cheaper names, get a reseller account at resellerclub.com.

I've been used Godaddy for 2 yrs now and have bought multiple domains from them. I can say I havn't had much problems at all.
And they're always having discounts on domains, as in ALWAYS, like every week always.

    Havn't tried namescheap

Hope you make the right the decision however.
    Cheers

I have purchased Domains at Godaddy for many years and the only drawback I have discovered is that they do block some emails even if you host your domain elsewhere

I have been using Godadddy for several years now and never had a major issue with them. Namecheap is great also being that you get good discounts on certain domain names.

I see a lot of people emphasizing domain privacy. Are you all so worried that what you are doing on your domains is not very above board? Why the need to hide?
Your reputation will be better of you don't hide and you offer a good service or product.
So, in my books, the domain privacy issue is irrelevant. Take the best price.
Unless of course, you are afraid of your online activity being traced to you.

I agree. I have even heard that it effects your ranking if you are trying to hide yourself.

Someone recommended that register domains for at least 3 years and do not use privacy - Google take this into consideration and tell them how serious you are about your projects and it effects rankings.

Not really sure how true is this - any insights from SEO experts on this?

I have used a couple of domain hosts one and 1&1(which I am currently with) I must say I was impressed with both although one does not allow you to host more than one site but you get a full year for £9 with a reliable service. I can't say much about 1&1 yet because I joined only recently but the deal I got I was very happy with 2 domain names free (.co.uk) for first year then £2.99 for the year after. It is a 12 month contract but you also get the first 3 months free so all I had to pay up front was £12 I then pay £7 a month.

I love Namecheap - simple and elegant.

I just don't like the way Godaddy try to upsell at every step of your purchase - kinda frustrating for me.
