Blog and forum commenting PHOBIA! Help

Hi there! I have written a post on this before asking for advice...well guess what, I have not done any blog or forum commenting yet!!

I know the strategy and I know that it is important to leave thoughtful comments etc, no spam.

My problem is that I have a complete blockage when It comes to this particular marketing bit and yet I understand that this is crucial!

I'd rather spend my time writing more articles for syndication than doing this but somehow I feel "compelled to do it" and yet...I don't know where to start, I don't know which ones to select, I don't know if they are worth it!!!

Boooohhh! Just stuck on this part and it is becoming frustrating because I think I am missing on sth and can't get started!

Any advice?

Where do I find good relevant blogs? Forums? I have been through some but they seem very "amateurish" so I wouldn't expect a great flow of traffic from them!!

Oh so lost!! Help anyone?

Thanks a lot

Yoan

    1. I really can not understand your phobia! or even better, you don't seem to have any kind of phobia!
    2. The only advice I might have for you is to try free writing or some other writing method (it can both help you create quality content and concentrate your thoughts)
    3. You'll find no better forum from warrior.
    4. Amateurish forums are ideal to bring traffic to your site, especially if it refers to IM

Yeah phobia may be an exaggeration! I am not in the IM though but health and it is hard to find forums for micro niches etc...well, that's my take on it! I wish I could use warrior F indeed but my sites are not related to IM but I should have specified it maybe.

Just write a comment that relates to your situation and your knowledge level. If you are an expert in the field you market in, you can easily add content or even just agree with the blog post for the comment.

If you don't know much about the topic, read the post in full and comment what you think about it.

It's all about adding something to the post.

As far as finding good blogs and forums, you just have to search long and hard. Keep a record of all the sites you visit. Revisit the best of the best and start to contact the blog owners for more venture possibilities.

That's one of the great aspects of blog and forum marketing. It's easy to build relationships.

There are a few different Google search operators you can use to find related blogs (if you don't own automated software that does it for you).

They start off simple, and can become more complex. For example:

inurl:[your keyword] (Finds all websites with your keyword in their URL. Blog posts that are already talking about your niche.

intitle:[your keyword] (The same as above, but sites that contain your keyword in the title.

    Combine the two.

    intitle:yourkeyword And inurl:yourkeyword

    Bang!

    Search for only wordpress.

intitle:yourkeyword And inurl:yourkeyword And "Powered by Wordpress"

Yes, I would be careful with any automated software. I get people auto commenting on my marketing forum and blogs and they really don't make any sense. Ghostrecon provides the search criteria that we use to find wordpress blogs. You want to go in the blogs and write something that is on topic.

Example: I really liked your article on dog training. You have provided some valuable content for anyone trying to train their family pet.

You want to make the writer or owner of the blog feel good about their content. That way if they're approving all comments you will most likely get approved.

Just read the post and give your opinion on it. If its wrong, people will correct you and you'll begin to learn about the niche. Just don't worry what other people think. Pretend that you're writing writing a journal in a note pad that no one else will see. That should give you some confidence and it should get easier to post as time goes on.

As far as the best way to find blogs/forums, it really depends on your niche but Google is always a great resource.

    I hope this helps.

I too was clueless about blog commenting when I started. Then I decided to do it for some better backlinks and now it's loads of fun.

Get into it. I often research the post topic to add something really good to the discussion. When I find blogs in my niche, it's a no-brainer. If you write terrific comments on blogs in your niche, you'll establish a relationship with other bloggers who will be more inclined to accept articles for guest posts. These are great as well.

    Blog commenting ideas include:

    • Ask questions and subscribe to the comments so you can respond when an answer is provided.
    • Go to Wikipedia and other resources on the topic and see what you can learn. If there's more info you can add, say something like "I'll add 2 points ..."
    • Reply to existing comments if you have a different point of view (be polite) or add to what other commenters say.
    • If you know of an excellent resource to link to that is relevant to the post and NOT your site, link to it as another helpful resource.
    • If you disagree with the post, respectfully disagree and explain why you do. Most blogs will publish those as long as you're respectful.

    Other blog commenting tips:

    • Read the post / watch the video so you can actually say something valuable.
    • Unless specifically permitted, don't put your keywords in the "Name" field. Instead use a real name (or pen name).
    • Don't put a link to your site in the comment field unless expressly permitted. Be happy with the link using the anchor text in the name field.
    • Track the dofollow blogs in your niche you find so you can return to them and comment on new posts. Bloggers love loyal commenters who post valuable comments.
    • Commenting on blogs not in your niche is okay. I do this and it's okay. I find; however, that related blogs approve a higher percentage of my comments.
    • It's a numbers game. Not every comment will be approved. Don't sweat it.
    • Have fun and get into the discussion. I've learned a ton of interesting stuff doing blog commenting because I read the posts and watch the videos (or play the free video games) - whatever the content.
Shoot for 5 to 8 comments per hour. If 70 percent get approved, you've built some killer backlinks. I shoot for 2 per day - takes less than a 1/2 hour. They add up over the months.

Exactly!!! Guest posting can also help a lot in increasing your traffic. By putting in relevant and informative comments on other blogs, visitors will have a view of your credibility and what you have to offer them.

  • Use StumbleUpon. You don't have to install the toolbar. Specify your areas of interest and start stumbling. I have found amazing things using SU, not just great blogs, and I like sharing my finds with others.

A good place to go looking for blogs is probably an obvious but sometimes overlooked one and that's google's own blog search engine. Filter them by date and try to only post on relevant and new posts, this increases your chances of having your comment approved in my opinion.

Another great source of blog posts I've found is by keeping an eye on your twitter account. Check out the posts from other people in your niche and comment on those, they're likely to be new posts from people who want to interact socially (they're on twitter) Great for getting discussions going and building up relationships.

Once you find a suitable blog post, be polite and try to add some value to what you're contributing.

You'll also want to concentrate on blogs that are dofollow, there is a popular plugin for firefox that can help you with that (and many other things) by the name of SEOquake. If you do use it though I'd change the settings so you have to request details manually else you sometimes get error messages relating to google thinking you're a bot.

I must admit it is rather tedious to begin with, but as I got into it, it began to become somewhat fun, and the Blog posts can be rather fun aswell.

I have some software which makes the whole thing easier, although it is still a manual process its just that the email, name and website is already filled out.

If interested then just contact me! Thanks.
