Which Skill Should I Master?

Hi everyone,

I have been around the internet for a while now and know the money is creating products, so I need to master a skill/expertise to actually teach it in my products.
I have a question. In your opinion, Which skill/expertise should I master? Something that can be done relatively fast, and has a high ROI.
ie.
1. Offline
2. Amazon
3. SEO
4. Copywriting
5. Flipping Websites
6. Fash Cash
7. Social Media

etc...

Thanks Guys

None of these can be mastered relatively fast. All are businesses and all take time to develop skills related to business. I'm not even sure what you mean by fast cash unless it's selling questionable courses promising fast cash to naive people. That's pretty common.

My guess is that out of the seven items on your list flipping Websites would be the easiest to learn quickly. You'd need to have a feel for value in hocking sites though. In fact, it's my opinion that to master anything worth while you need some inherent aptitude for.

I know this isn't the answer you're looking for. But here's one that works if you work it. Pick one you like, one you'd look forward to doing every day. And then learn everything you can about it. That's the one you have the best chance of mastering quickly. Good luck.

    I agree with Travlinguy
It takes time to master any skill. Than to actually teach it properly will take even more time if you want a high ROI. Choose an area you are interested in, and dedicate time learning and implementing the skill till you can master it.

    You should be master with,

    1. Product creation.
    2. Targeted traffic generation.
    3. List building.
    4. Conversion.

      This is the magic formula.

Internet Marketing success is all about targeted traffic and conversions.

If you master those two pillars, you're in the right track. Forget all the rest, because if you fail at these two, you will fail at the whole thing.

What do you mean by "that can be done relatively fast?" Are you referring about hours, days, or weeks? Although I would say that you can master all of it, but it takes time to achieve the goal of understanding and mastering what you have written in there. Try to learn the basics and techniques of each one by one so your mind can focus on one skill at a time. Start with copywriting, after you can deliver and master your copywriting skill, you could then move your goal in mastering the next skill like SEO or Offline marketing, depends on which skills you would really develop. It is more important if you are familiar with all the skills in terms of IM since all of them can contribute to your earning of money. Don't be hasty on what you really want or develop as a skill; patience is a virtue that helps people really understands what they are doing. Be patient creativeway, eventually you will master all of it.

There are a number of products, courses and sites that will walk you through the skills you need to learn to become competent.
As you find the information on the internet, you can absorb it at your own pace. There is nothing stopping you from trying methods as you learn them. It's the ready, fire aim method.
You can learn very fast by putting things into action. You are forced to learn and become familiar with what works through the results you achieve.
If you are in a super hurry, set up a free blog and use it for practice as you hone the rest of your skills. Many are practically point and click to set up and many don't require hosting or marketing knowledge at all.
      Good luck in your efforts.

Out of what you've listed, I think "flipping websites" is probably the one which can be done fastest and most easily learned.

The two to keep away from are SEO (that's the most competitive and one of the less valuable ones, in my opinion), and copywriting (which suits only a minority of people and is by far the most difficult and time-consuming to learn).

The secret of your success? 10,000 hours | News

A lot of experts believe it takes 10,000 hours to achieve true mastery of most skills.

With some skills it may be 5,000 hours, with others it might be 20,000 hours.

The bottom line is, to master almost any skill requires that you put thousands of hours of practice in.

But let's assume it takes you 10,000 hours to master any of the skills you've listed.

If you put 14 hours a day in for 2 years, you'll have done over 10,000 hours and should have mastered any of the things you've listed.

A couple of years isn't very long, if you think back to mid-2009 I bet you can remember a lot of things you did very clearly.

So choose whichever one you want, put your 14 hours a day in, and you'll be a true master towards the end of July 2013.

Assuming you want to be a genuine master of course, and not a pretend one

It always seems to get back to that answer, which certainly isn't what people want to hear.....and it most definitely doesn't sell well...and that's this.

If you want to make serious cash....

You have to treat it like a serious business...

and that means doing what other serious people do....

and that tends to require a lot of dedication, time, energy and passion.

anything else your either buying lotto tickets (one hit wonder, relying on luck), or doing something illegal....and heck even the "successful" drug dealers seem to treat what they do like a business and work hard at it....so.....

For all practical purposes there is no such thing as "fast cash" unless you fly down to South America and bring some white powder back with you.

So what I'm saying is that if you want to do something legal and ethical, fast cash is a dream....a dream that (if you have no ethics) sells well and might lead to some fast cash...but that brings us back to the legal/ethical issue again.

I would suggest that you take a long term view to this and ask yourself, what would I be able to wake up 10 years from now, after having done every day for the last 10 years, and still look forward to doing.

All of the skills you listed are money makers, and will likely continue to be.

Pick one you can see yourself enjoying, because if you enjoy it then it will be much easier to master that skill.

And if you pick something you love, even though you might work your tail off building your business, it really won't feel like you have worked a day in your life....and then you really will be living the dream.

And that's realistic, it's legal and it's ethical.

My favorite skill is growing money trees in the backyard!

Gosh, I wish that were true....but IM is certainly a viable way to create an income stream.

So, to answer your question, primarily focus on a skill which really excites you. Secondly, consider a skill which is selling really hot right now. For example, social media products are selling like crazy to newbies. If you like facebook/twitter/etc, then develop that product now because it will sell now.

    So...your products should be both....
Sell what you like AND what people will buy.

    Good luck,

    Jeff

As it has already been stated, nothing can be done fast. Well, that of course depends on what you mean by fast. From my perspective you are always learning, you can always get better.

Even some of the best in this business are always progressing, discovering new things becoming better. So you need to sit down and think about this. What skills do I have that I am good at ? and it doesn't have to be anything about network marketing. We are all good at something. Then find out what you like to sell and find your target market.

Those things are important before you think about the skills you need to learn to be marketing your stuff. I know it's not exactly the answer you were looking for, but I just feel that it is important to tell you that.

Then you take one of the skills you have mentioned and take some training courses and very important, always take action. You might a lot about the topic, but you will only become better when you take some action on it.

So to better answer your question it depends on what you are trying to sell. Amazon doesn't make much sense if you are selling your own E-book on you own site. So depending on what you are selling they are equally as important.

    Hope this makes sense

    Copywriting. Hands down... here's why:

    - It's not JUST about the writing of good copy. When you learn copywriting, you also learn about the "psychology" of the people in whatever marketplace you're trying to sell to.

    - You'll know how to research markets and fill in a NEED... where as most people blindly create a product that may or may not be marketable, you'll know before you invest time and money into it.

    - You'll be using copywriting skills every day and get damn good use out of it... especially if you're a fast mover and want your front end copy, backend, and emails done - WITHOUT having to pay thousands of dollars for a pro or wait weeks to get on
    their schedule.

    - You're more inclined to read and consider this post because I gave you good "reasons why"... which is a basic foundation in persuading people

    Success,
    Ansar

P.S. This might not be a skill acquired "overnight"... but a few months of practice and you'll be far better off in the long run.... it will pay for itself in droves.

All of these topics are far too broad if you would like to become an "expert" relatively quickly. You need to be more specific.

For example, to say that you are an SEO expert, you would probably need to study a dozen different aspects of SEO.

However, you can become an "expert" more quickly if you focus on one area of SEO...backlinking, for example.

That's still a broad topic, and you can break it down even further. Maybe you can become an expert in using a specific piece of software that will create backlinks. Or how to get backlinks on forums related to your subject.

Those are just a couple of quick examples, and if you do a little research into backlinking (or whatever you would like to focus on), you will likely find dozens of very specific areas in which you can become an "expert" in a matter of hours.

Basically, what I'm saying is that to master a broad skill, you should break it into chunks that are as small as possible. In this way, you won't be overwhelmed, and you put your newfound knowledge to use almost immediately.

"Which Skill Should I Master?"- Excellent question to ask because if you know your number one skill , you can focus on it till you succeed

If you can learn what converts then you have a skill to make money from.
Tweaking until you get fantastic conversion rates is the one area that so many people fail in.
What's the point in spending months writing articles in a bid to drive traffic to an offer only to find it does not convert.
All skills are important, but if I could only have one it would be that.

Learn to write well and you can be successful online. You have to love to write quality content, which is why you should like the niche that you have chosen. Don't pick something, even though you have no interest in it, just because there is high demand. Choose something that you care/know a lot about and it will be easy to produce quality content and it will be easier to sell....

It is my opinion that you should master traffic, so SEO/social media would be a great start.

Once you have traffic then it will be easier for you to test your conversions. Then yo can know whether you have master copywriting. You can't master copywriting without having any traffic to test the ROI.

Also, being able to rank on Google when people are actively looking for products/services/info that will solve their problem will break so many barriers down.

It is much more powerful positioning yourself infront of someone who is actively searching rather than go out a hunt down prospects (offline etc)

So to conclude....master a traffic strategy and then you can teach it.

Unless you can afford Paid advertising then you can test ROI straight away. That said, I would just see what someone else has had success with and then go and do what they do. Don't re-invent the wheel.

    Regards,

    Chris
