Couple of Twitter glitches you should know about

You may or may not know that Twitter has recently been hit with a massive wave of phishing - people get a DM (direct message) with a link in it, they click on the link and it seems to send them to a Twitter sign in page, they enter their name and Twitter password - and then the phishers send out fake DMs using their account info.

So be very wary.

Also since then - a lot of people stopped getting email notifications when they get new followers. This is bad, because then you can't follow people back.

So I signed up to use SocialToo - Your Companion to the Social Web!, which is free, which notifies you when you get new followers and also if you choose, notifies you when people unfollow you.

It can also send an auto-thank you to new followers - I recommend against that. It's about as personal as a chain letter.

    Thanks, Dana-

Does this mean Tweetlater won't work as it should? I should use Socialtoo instead?

This is probably why tweetlater stopped working for me, it stopped auto-responding to new followers, I didnt know why until I saw this thread.

I don't use Tweetlater so I'm not sure - are you getting notified when new people follow you?

If you go to the list of people who are following you, at the top of your Twitter home page...and see that people are there who are new followers, and you never got notified that they were following you...that tells you it's NOT working.

Either one, I am just telling you, don't be the twotal twool who falls for these Twishing scams.

But if you are don't feel bad - @holygod apparently fell for the Phishing Scam!

Leading me to: 1.) Question His Omniscience and 2.) Make really bad jokes about being a Phisher of Men. Ba-dum-bump!

Now you KNOW those phishers are going to burn in hell if they are messing with @holygod.

Use Tweetlater instead... it does the same thing (auto reply DM when somebody follows you) I've been getting tons of those phishing DMs as well... thank god Firefox blocks those sites
