How to know what you are good at on the internet?

Hello, I understand that this question is rather vague and you may think "its an unanswerable question?!" But just bare with me on this for a second.

I would like to offer my services to people, but I am stuck in the middle of deciding what to do... I plan on using Fiverr to do the following at this time but it could eventually get on a bigger scale than just Fiverr.

But the problem I face when thinking about this is "But what can I do which I enjoy and wouldn't mind doing?" This is the question I ask myself each time... what do you suggest that I should do? Should I try out different things such as photoshop and see if I enjoy designing logos, should I try and master HTML and learn how to make a website (Highly unlikely) Or could I do something like articles?

I certainly enjoy writing a lot, but I find articles a bit tedious. (depending on the niche) If you haven't already came up with a solution for me then please tell me what sort of different writing services which I would be able to offer, On Fiverr first of all as a tester.

If you do not know what I am on about and are just thinking about leaving the topic and not worrying about it then just see if you can answer this, first of all do you use Fiverr? If not then you may just want to leave the topic but if you do then do you have any popular Gigs which aren't too hard to complete and get a lot of sales?

Im sorry if I didn't really order this post correctly, its late and its incredibly hot in here , Thanks for reading anyway!

If you aren't passionate about what you're doing you wont succeed anyway.

Let me define passionate....something that you're willing to do day in and day out. Your "why" has to give you a strong enough reason. Many people hate work yet they go to their jobs like clockwork.

Make your why your reason to do what ever it is you enjoy. Hard to master anything if your passion is not there. Whether it is for money or whatever.

Thanks, this is very true. I should want to do it, paid or not... And I would do writing for someone for free, but the main problem I face is what "Genre" of writing I would like to be in and offer my services.

This is something that only YOU know. What are your hobbies? What are you REAL passionate about?

It could be something as simple as you enjoy watching TV series. Okay, so run with that...

        Narrow it down:
        • Do you enjoy drama?
        • Do you enjoy comedy?
        • Maybe reality TV shows?
        • Soap operas?

Let's say you enjoy comedy shows. Then you could offer your "expertise" to related blogs and see if they're looking for extra writers. Better yet, you could start your own website about the show(s) you enjoy.

If you're looking to start by offering a writing service here on the forum or on Fiverr, why not offer articles for people who own TV show streaming websites? You could do the synopsis of the episodes for them, for example. That's just one idea.

I hate writing about things I'm not passionate about. I'm willing to bet I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Make your work your passion. Not the other way around. Then you'll enjoy your work.

Why not offer what you already know how to do? It seems backwards to me to say you'll use Fiverr to offer a service yet have no idea what service to offer.

Don't you have anything that you know how to do and wouldn't mind doing it for money?

        Hey ISay,

        1) You can offer rewriting services on Fiverr.

Instead of having to write the article from scratch, you can rewrite someone elses article for them.

If you want to stand out from the crowd, you could also offer to submit the rewrite to a few article directories.

        2) Do you own any software...like the software from Incansoft or SENuke?

If so, you could offer to use your software to create backlinks or submit to directories.

Hope these two ideas get your creative juices flowing,

        Ayesha

You will be stuck in "thinking/planning" mode forever.

For some gifted/lucky people, it comes naturally to them. For the majority, they try/act different things and finally figure what they want to do.

Act.Action. You want to write. Pick a topic/niche/vertical/industry you are interested in and would like to write about, and make a post on fiverr( your choice).

Once you get a couple of gigs, you might realize this is what you were born to do.

You can ask what others think on a public forum, but, unless you write that post asking for orders, you will never know.

It sounds like you would find writing tedious though the rewriting idea may not be the same way for you. I think you can also look at fiverr to get some ideas. For instance, I made some videos using windows movie maker and found that enjoyable. I did a few for friends though I haven't decided if I'd want to do it at a service. Still, it felt creative.

Designing ebook covers is another idea or writing press releases. Browsing fiverr or warriors for hire can be a way to find out what people are looking for and then you can think about what's involved in learning the skill and if you'd wish to do it as a service.

The other warriors have made some really valid points in response to your query and I go along with what they have written to you.

It's understandable that you want to make money online, as we all do - yet
it is important to find your strengths.

You say you like writing but find it tedious. Why not use some of the various software that is available to make the task easier, or better still, find a niche, or several niches that you enjoy writing about and join forums where there are people looking for answers to their problems within those specific areas?

(Ideas for a specialized blog/membership site maybe?) You could even supplement your writing with some of your own videos.

If you want to succeed - you will! But be passionate about what you do.

But the problem I face when thinking about this is "But what can I do which I enjoy and wouldn't mind doing?"
This approach seems really weak to me, no offense intended.

Using that sentence you might as well check if McDonalds qualifies as income generator for you.

If you have no idea what service to offer, maybe you shouldn't consider it in the first place. Usually it works the other way around:

          1. First, someone is either passionate about something and already doing it for himself or within his job. Or he just got an education in an area.
          2. Second, the person starts to expand on that and build his freelance business.
I certainly enjoy writing a lot, but I find articles a bit tedious.
Another wimpy one. I certainly hope I never hire a freelancer who's THAT passionate about his offer.

If you just need a few bucks, and you are not passionate about anything, go get a job. Don't get into self employment. You'll hate it.

          Just my impression of course...

I think I may have missed out something in the main post, I meant that DEPENDING on the niche I was writing in it felt tedious, but in no way did I mean that for every article I write. Because if I know the niche then its quite a lot of fun!

Anyway I have an article to do today and I will judge how focused and passionate I am about it, then I may create an article again and submit it to a directory. I want to try a lot of different things to do with writing during this next week with every day being different.

The ones I have at the moment:
    1. Articles
    2. Reviews (written)
    3. Speeches (?)
    4. Ebooks, Or eBook pages?

I need about 1 more, so has anybody got any idea's?

    Thanks.

It's good you want to make an online income and if you really do have what it takes, then you should succeed.

I used to write a lot of content that I liked to write about and it was fine, but not that many people found their way to my sites, and if they did it was nothing to write home about, (no pun intended).

I switched the way I wrote from what I liked to write about to what other people wanted on their sites and for people who wanted specialized content, for example, a lot of online marketers have offline clients. For me that was far more profitable.

It has to be said that there are people who make good online incomes writing for themselves.

I would suggest you find a need and provide the solution and not wonder whether you should write speeches, or what ever - unless you really burn inside to do that.

To stick to your last question, there are a ton of things to write about and ways to go about it. You could write "How To..." guides, transcripting from videos, (as a means to create articles and have content on hand, or to write for internet marketers who don't have English as their native language), write reviews for popular products both online, on tv and offline, resumes, (online and offline). Create specialized content for websites that you lease, or sell, to offline companies like dentists, mechanics, lawyers, interior decorators, plumbers. You name it.

You are limited only by your imagination. But do one thing at a time and stay focussed.

Find your passion and turn it into cash. Know what I mean? Work without motivation is a very dull profession, you should find your passion and maybe it is not in the world of Internet.

EzineRebel, I have done how to guides in the past and I did enjoy doing that, and I also have done gaming tutorials before on Youtube (without voice) and I had gotten very positive reviews about them and some have over 10,000 views!

Im not sure yet, As I said I shall trial things and that should give me a result! Or maybe I will find things out over time because I will come across alot of things on the internet over the coming years.

    Thanks.

What niches are you interested to write about? I mean, we can't tell you what's your interest is. Try to look for some niche that will let you define which niche will make you start writing some articles. You can check Fiverr or Odesk for that, they have vast niche and are looking for writers that can provide them from a 100 to more than a 1000 word articles. Just try to look for some topics that will ring a bell to you.
Once you feel that you are interested to write something about it, and then you can start from there. Use what you really want to do to earn money, make your interest works for you.

i understand that there is a lot in the internet and in most cases you have to specialize only in one field.
Personally i started in article writing but it did not take long before i started looking for greener or more suitable occupation for me until when i landed to web development.
in simple terms, you can fool anybody but not your self and sooner than expected people will have known you even if you are dealing online.

Just be sure that the competition for whatever you choose is manageable. You must be able to compete for your keywords or you will not get the search traffic that = sales.

As others have stated here, and I hate to sound like Polly Parrot, but I think it bears repeating, if you enjoy the process of writing, but only enjoy writing about certain topics, then why not offer a service writing articles on those particular topics and see what type of response you get? And, if you don't, maybe I will coz I LOVE writing!

For your 5th topic, how about blogs? Just a thought.

what are you good at in offline life? How can you spin this? You've could get super creative here. If you live near the beach you could write people's names or messages in the sand. If you live near a landmark you could take a picture of their message in front of the landmark.

Evaluate yourself first, what are the things, hobbies, or concepts that you are really interested with and know a lot from it. The only person that can answer the question of what you really good at is yourself. Nobody can tell you that you are good in this or that; it is you who can dictate to yourself that you are good in what you do.
I would say that if you are good in writing, then you can provide your services as an article writer. Then you might want to read some threads about affiliate marketing, seo, back linking if that would ring an interest to you.
If you don't have the passion to do what you want to do, then it's difficult to attain success. You have to commit yourself on what you do.
