internet marketing course

A group of friends invested in a 3-day internet marketing course hoping to learn a new skill & maybe an additional source of income (I was one of those who made the decision not to swipe my credit card during the course preview, then feeling guilty that I did not embark on a journey to create another stream of income just like my friends).

Feeling charged & excited towards the end of the course, at the final hours, they were 'introduce' to buy e-products & course materials which = course fee (4 figures $$)

How do you think they felt at that time after spending $XXXX for the initial course fee + 3 full days worth of time? Should they pay another $XXXX to get the final 'key' to success? Do you think they're are all thinking rationally before swiping their credit cards yet again at that point of time?

Have you been caught in situations like this?

Yeah, but i realized a while ago that paying big bucks for software isn't going to put me where I want. So I simply started from the ground and worked my way up.

Do realize that when earning income online you are building a foundation of knowledge. If you know what you're doing and encounter such programs you will see them for what they truly are, either helping you to increase your income, or to further frustrate you.

Is it typical for those IM courses to employ such tactics to get paid even more? Would anyone be in a right frame of mind (after 2 & a half days after information 'upload') to say no at that time? Pay double the promised course fee for fear of losing the 'final key' to kick start IM business?

In my opinion, no internet marketing course can give you the 'golden key'. You should learn as much as you can, and implement as much as you can to learn from it and grow.

If you want an excellent free internet marketing course, I would highly recommend "The Challenge":
        The Challenge

I did this back in 2008 and 2009 (when it was called the '30 Day Challenge'). Back then it was structured a little differently and it has been updated yearly.

I recommend this because it is where my internet marketing career began, teaching me all the basics (and a lot more) to internet marketing.

I could not recommend it highly enough. Thinking back on it, that 30-day course is what set a solid foundation - it taught me all the essential groundwork, and also how to apply this step by step. I was then able to build on this by implementing what I had learnt, and via plenty of reading online / forums etc..

So I would definitely recommend it to you for the same reasons!

Yes, it is very typical. Anyone who ran such a course and did NOT have an upsell at the end would be considered very foolish by many people on this site.

They do it because it works.

You have already invested money and time in the course, probably quite a bit of money and time. You want to make sure that the money you already spent was used wisely. The marketer is trying to get you to think that if you don't buy the upsell, then the money you have already spent was wasted. Therefore you will buy the upsell to protect the money you have already spent.

It's a lot easier to get someone to pay $500 now and another $500 later if he thinks the second $500 will enhance the first $500.

But it was not only $500 but $XXXX + $XXXX

imagine someone threw in $XXXX to hoping to start a new business & realised he has to throw in his final balance $XXXX to make it work - he has nothing left for the next weeks cos this business does not reap overnight sucess

    this is a cruel world......

Unfortunately it's a fact of life in this internet marketing world that some people practice pretty unscrupulous tactics to get people to spend more money than they originally thought they had to.

It's one thing having an upsell, but it's quite another to make people pay more money to buy "the final piece of the jigsaw" because without it the rest of what they bought was useless.
