Gplus domains? What are your thoughts

There has been a pretty big rush over the last couple of months for gplus domain names ex; gplusmovies.com. I myself have grabbed a couple of these domains hoping that they might be worth something in the near future with google plus getting so popular and all.

Does anyone think it is a good idea to snatch these domain names? What are your thoughts on this whole thing? Thanks.

Okay, let me try to explain it to you.

Google is a leviathan. They are the most powerful technology company in the world. They say jump and ICANN and all the other internet governing bodies squeal "how high" like little girls. They are the keymaster of the internet. They would wipe you out without even a blink from their beady little eye.

Do you honestly think it is a good idea to get a name that so closely resembles one of their products that your motives could be called into question, without even bringing up the topic of this thread you created which has surely by now been crawled and archived away somewhere by Google.

Dump it, delete it...you are playing with fire and Google own the wood.

For me the problem lies in the fact that a few big names have been hitting there lists advising them to buy Gplus domains to make money. I wasted 3-4 hunting for domains then realising it was a complete waste of time.

Sure in the future there might be some money in top Gplus TLD's but they went a while ago.

      Hello Sparhawke,

How would one go about deleting or dumping a domain?

As Gene Pimentel says, responding on this subject is sometimes a little like talking to a brick wall. He's already explained it to you in this thread, Gmil88 - or maybe you didn't see his reply 5 posts after yours?

It's kind of weird the way people invite expert advice/opinion but often don't really want to hear it when it arrives: they just want to argue with it. :p

Nobody with any experience or understanding of the subject; no.

I appreciate your reply, and yes I just had forgotten about that post I had made since it wasn't me that started the thread. I just wanted to raise the subject again and get some more warrior's opinions is all. I completely understand what everyone is saying about this so it's not like talking to a brick wall with me. I just like to get numerous opinions, call it market research.

BTW I don't plan on using the domains and building any sort of site on them, I just own them. My plan is to hopefully get rid of them for more than what I paid for them when the time is right? Not sure how google can send me a cease and desist notice on that? But then again I'm no expert either.

As long as you're sure that isn't a euphemism for "I just want to wait until someone who agrees with me replies". Just an observation, but not all opinions are created equal: some people have genuine expertise and speak with the voice of understanding and experience; others speak with the less informed voices of people who've done similar things and are hoping against hope that it's ok and they might not get into trouble. Just a thought; and I wish you good luck.

So I had some witty statement to make here, but figured I'd rely on my magic eight ball to make my point. So I shook the ball and amazingly one of these came up...

I got a $20 spot you see one of those in your future.
