Are You Using Curate.us and Repost.Us?

I'm doing a content curation case study of sorts and this morning I found a great article that I wanted to "curate" onto my blog and it had this little button at the top that said "repost". Of course I clicked it and low and behold a little drop down box appeared with the code to repost the article on my blog. Can't get much more convenient than that!

So, I did a little research and found out about these two cool sites, curate.us and repost.us.

Curate.us puts a button on your toolbar which allows you to easily curate any post. You can decide where to "clip" the page and it has buttons to share the post at twitter, facebook, blogger, posterous, tumblr and livejournal as well as the code to paste onto your site. You can choose the url that the shared post links back to. Curate.us also has stats that show you the total screen clips, quotes(not sure what this is yet), clips and views.

Here's a pic I took of what a clip looks like when posted on your blog:

Repost.us puts a button on YOUR site that allows anyone to click and embed your articles. They just click and a dropdown box appears with code that you paste into a post or html page - it embeds a cool looking image clip of the article which links to the article on your site. I think once they click it, the full article is embedded on the site somehow (I'm not exactly sure how that worked but sometimes I saw the clip and sometimes the full article embedded right on the site) at the bottom of the embed it puts a "resource box" of sorts that says where the article is clipped from, that it is used by permission and gives a link so the visitor can clip it and put it on their site (can you say viral?).

Repost.us has a wordpress plugin that makes it super easy to add to your website and it looks like they might also have a paid model where people pay to syndicate your articles (how cool would that be to just write a great article and have people pay you to repost it on their sites?).

Seems like these two resources would be great for those of you who are writing your own high quality unique content and for those who want to share other great articles from around the web.

I'd never heard of these two sites before, have you? Is anyone else using this and, if so, what are your results?

Thanks Lee, I didn't know about these and will certainly try them out.

I can see great link building value with people embedding your article on their sites. The ease of use would mean it will be easier to do, but I wonder if the way it is embedded if the link is actually counted.

I'll test it out and let you know what results I get.

    Cheers

Yes, I was thinking not so much link building but spreading your content around on high quality sites so that people read it and click through to your site, thus becoming subscribers or fans or whatever. Link juice would be an added benefit though.

Deborah - My server that i have the picture on is actually down right now (figures) so check back later and you should be able to see it.

Thanks Lee. I hadn't heard of them either but these sound good. I saw the pic fine so server must be up now.

For syndicating they look really good.

I appreciate the write up on these.

        Cheers

I am using Repost.us, only for about a week now. I signed up for Curate.us but didn't care much for the layout once I implemented it and did not feel like messing with the coding. I don't have any reposted articles as of yet, but the company is new. March 2011 so not many know what it's about. I wish there was a source that could tell me who else is using it. I haven't seen any of the repost.us emblems anywhere as of yet. It's a wonderful concept though!

I don't think the picture you included came through. I'm not seeing it, anyway. Could you repost the image in a comment? I'm curious to see what this looks like. I really don't know much about curation and have never heard of these sites.
