Do I concentrate on my blog or squeeze page?

Hey guys,

I'm looking to dominate a niche online but wondered what I should be focussing on.

I have a blog and also a separate URL squeeze page to build a list. I reckon it wouldn't be hard to get a site to high up on google for some really good keywords but wondered what I should be concentrate on doing.

Should I be looking to get my blog to the top of Google or my squeeze page?

With the blog, I'll have lead capture on there but obviously the optins won't be like having a one page squeeze page..

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Go with both? That way you get ppl to come to your blog and click on the squeeze page. Ranking the squeeze page may prove difficult because of the content issues but I would split test to see which one converts better for you. In my experience maybe I am dealing with sucky squeezes but the blog works better for me

      At most one page.

A "squeeze-page" is by definition a page with a prominently incentivized opt-in and no other content.

Well actually there is a newer type of squeeze page that by definition is more than one page long. It is commonly referred to as a 'Covert' or 'Preeminence' squeeze page. It's a way of using a storyline to highly target your opt-ins. A concept promulgated and maybe even invented by Andre Chaperon.

The purpose of the blog is to inform and show subject matter expertise. The purpose of the squeeze page is to build leads --> monetization. Focus on the squeeze page as it's direct purpose is to make money, which is why the copyright is most likely tailored to your target market.

Concentrate on driving traffic to your blog which you then direct to your squeeze page. Once you're getting a substantial amount of traffic on your squeeze page, concentrate on increasing conversions.
      I will go to this!

Put a opt-in box on your blog on the front page, and concentrate on driving traffic to your blog. Your blog can act as your SP for now.

The blog gives you authority, web presence and content for SEO. In other words everything your SP doesn't have. You can add so much more to your blog like video, articles, audio downloads, graphics, free give aways, newsletters etc etc. You can also drive traffic from your blog to any SP that you like.

You'll never dominate anything just with a squeeze page.

I'm not sure what the issue is but...
From what I understand the answer seems pretty simple:
Get your blog on the front page for traffic then you can send traffic to your squeeze page

traffic is money... If you get it to your blog, then you can monetize it via a ads or product sales, etc.... If you get it to your squeeze page, then you have a list to sell to...

If you are good enough that your problem is where to direct all your traffic, then you will no doubt make some loot!

I personally do seo (which is much easier to do with a blog....(because of content)) for my blog-type sites, and PPC and forum posting for my squeeze pages...

  • Forget your blog and focus on list building (squeeze page). It's a FAR more efficient way of marketing, and more profitable too.

I'm in agreement with this - to an extent. The extent being that it really depends on what kind of business you want to run. If you're starting a blog, prepare to develop lots of content.

You'll also find that you have to drive traffic via seo, guest blogging, or social media. This is a content producers game. If you can't consistently come up with great, shareable content you'll waste a lot of time building something noone will come to.

Also, you might find that blogging has a lower conversion rate. At minimum test your keywords by sending paid traffic to the page and see how it converts. It could be that "money" keyword doesn't produce. I know, I have a lot of them.

Email marketing takes a different skill set - learn copywriting if you can. Entertain as well as persuade. Don't churn your list. If you like, you can utilize a blog in conjunction with your email campaigns...ie, send them to the page every so often to see something new on the blog. This lends some credibility to as well.

Your blog is what's going to get you the FREE traffic by adding fresh content and using SEO techniques so you should use your blog to drive traffic to your squeeze page!

Concentrate on your blog, drive traffic to your blog where you build a list and then from your list, drive them to your squeeze page.

First send the traffic to your squeeze page. When they sign up send to your blog, in that way two birds in one stone and your subscribers will know about you which will help them open your emails and it builds reputation

    Thank you

That's kind of hard to do when the blog is the main source of your traffic - as it is with our online businesses.

the blog would be easier to get on the top google because you could use more keyword rich words.

the best option would be to get your blog on top and direct them from there to your squeeze page.

If you had a longtail exact match domain then squeeze page will be profitable then blog. If not then don't waste your time and investment with a squeeze page.
