New Paypal Problem - URGENT HELP, Fellow Warriors!

I got this new problem with Paypal. Hope any of you can help.

I received a payment. But the payment is withheld by Paypal, and I now have an "Open Dispute and Claims" case.

I contacted the buyer and asked if he contacted Paypal regarding a dispute or complain. He said:

"Mike,No i did not and paypal are accusing a 3rd party i dealt with today caused the problem. and your deal was the only one that i authorised today!"

I have no clue what type of problem he's referring to. I've NEVER used Paypal for any fraudulent, illegal, or unethical purpose. So what the heck is going on here??

Call paypal, and see what the deal is.

Guys account probably got phished, and they are clamping down until things get sorted out.

    Hey Michael,

The problem isn't on your end, it's on the other guy's end that wrote you back.'

PayPal just is withholding the payment until it's resolved. It's not a new problem. PP has been doing this stuff for some time now.

Unless a dispute was against you personally, all you have to do is wait for the funds to clear on your end, then let the buyer have his product.

It's sort of like when someone pays by echeck, there's a waiting period for it to clear right?

    Hope this helsp ...

Thanks so much for your help, Mary and Floyd.

Paypal wants me to "Resolve This Concern" before January 12, 2009. So is it ok to just ignore it?

    Thanks,
    Michael

I would email them if you can't call them directly. See what they say is going on (details). It could be they misunderstood, or it could be that the problem is on the other guy's end. Let them know what you were told.

Make sure you do this via logging on to PayPal and using their links on where to send responses. If you send it to the wrong place, it will never get seen. (Plus, always logging to PayPal directly, rather than following email links will keep your account from getting phished!)

If paypal is asking you to "resolve it" - you need to ask paypal what into they want from you and tell them the buyer is not aware of any problem with the transaction.

Do not ignore it. Paypal takes that as a sign of guilt.

Respond to any emails and save all correspondence. Then call them and handle it by phone. Here is the toll free number: 888-221-1161.

Thanks for all your help. Got a reply from Paypal:

        "Thank you for contacting PayPal.

My name is Sherry Lee Ann. From reading your email, I know this is
regarding the temporary hold that was placed in one of your
transactions. I'm sorry if the situation caused any inconvenience, I'll
        be glad to help you.

It has come to our attention that you may be the recipient of
potentially unauthorized funds. We have initiated an investigation into
this event. In the meantime, we have placed a temporary hold on the
funds in question until the investigation is complete. This temporary
hold will show as a deduction in your available balance. In the
meantime, you are free to continue transacting using your PayPal
        account."

        • Seems like everyone else pretty much gave you the solution. Although PP is widely accepted and pretty easy to use, I would suggest looking at other payment processors as well. I don't want to suggest any, but if you search the forums you'll find one specific one that is very IM friendly. PP is OK, but their "resolution center" is a joke and they still haven't fully matured as an IM processor.

Good luck getting it straightened out.

I recently had the same problem. PP said it was a possible unauthorized purchase using the sellers account. It was started by PP.

I think it was a bunch of crap and all it resulted in was the buyer getting his money back and the product. I never even heard from the buyer and as I said PP started it.

I had about four of these two months ago. Do not ignore them though.

Go into your account and give them the information that they want.

I also had that happen last month... I talked to the person that sent it, refunded them and they resent it no problem.

Looked like it was just an automatic alert of some kind from Paypal - it shouldn't be a problem and you should get your money shortly,
