Where does most of your money come from?

It comes from my day job. I cover my car payment and car insurance with my online income, which is the goal I set for myself. I drive a nice ride and enjoy some mad money each month.

On top of that my day job is being an SEO for an ecommerce web store, so technically you could say all of my income is derived from internet marketing.

by far most of my income comes from internet marketing (not in the how to niche). Specifically, the biggest part of my online income comes from building what i call micro hosting companies and eventually selling them off.

i dable in real estate, but the return on investment is just not there when compared to the internet. the only way i think it might be is if you have really deep pockets and deal in big retail strip centers or apartments.

and a day job...lol..whats that. i can honestly say i have never had one, unless you count mowing my parents lawn back in the day.

i started online stuff at 15 years old, was making money by 16 (31 now) and never looked back. i worked hard and got lucky, or maybe luck came my way because i worked hard.

I agree 100% with that. Especially about "raw independence".

I think, knowing that your money will be in your hands at the end of month is the strongest factor what "drive" people to day jobs.

Mine is coming 100% from online business. I have two reasons; I love computers since my childhood and "raw independence".

I can relate to your experience. I've worked for 'industry giants' in publishing & media field for like 20 years. Through those years, I had to deal with large egos and an ugly crowd of bootlickers.

But I was in love with my job, and never thought of quitting until... I realized that I was losing money investing my blood, sweat and tears in someone else's business.

I was lucky enough* to build my own business while having a full time job. While I was producing and managing "their" special-interest magazines, I was also running my OWN network of niche sites, info products and all... That's the smartest move I've ever made.

However, I know it's not everyone's cup of tea. Not everyone can manage these two together. Like I said, I was lucky.

Back to your question

I have multiple income streams, and I'm well aware of that they're all a part of MY business. I'm making the best money from publishing "special-interest" content online, in the form of websites, ebooks, newsletters. Sometimes, I coach indie writers in my area so they can create a strong web presence. That's like more of a seasonal job, and not my main focus (for now). I have some other business interests too, both online and offline, some hybrid etc.

I'm also writing articles, doing editor jobs and consulting for major company's magazines, because -well- I like magazines. And this last one is what I treat like a hobby, not business. Not anymore!

As actually earning online is still a pretty new concept to me, most of my income (probably about 60%) comes from my day job. Of course, I would like that ratio to shift dramatically, but its always nice to have something to fall back on. Also, it's interesting trying to balance a full time job both online and offline. It's definitely good practice for working with extremely limited time frames.

I don't know how I am going to classify my income as they always come in my mail in the form of "check". My services that I am offering to them are mixed of websites related services and creative design services (ie. store interior design, company branding design etc.)

Only 20% actually of my income are coming from my Paypal and my merchant. account.

Ha, I am doing the same. I used to be a District Manager, and I got let go for crazy reasons. I decided that I did not want to deal with that anymore. I just started, I am not making much money, but I home to strike it rich soon. I use the word "rich" very loosely... for now...

Sadly the 'bulk' of my income comes from my 'day job' and is a temporary setback. *Definitely serving as a major motivator to the insane hours I spend investing into my IM business.

Having been self-employed and a small business owner for nearly 18 years (until 2009) my income dropped significantly when I took a 'regular' job. The demands, deadlines, and headaches were fewer, but so were the paychecks!

In absolution, the 'fall from grace' was something that didn't sit well with me at first, and took some time to humble my family and myself to acclimate to reduced spending, and cutting back on certain amenities.

However, the insight I have gained online (and on this forum) reassures me that everything happens for a reason, and had I not succumb to 'letting go' of my brick-n-mortar business, I would've never found the unlimited potential the internet has to offer.

Ultimately, I have transformed my energy to a bigger, better, and more beneficial business plan, and if the outcome is 1/2 as good as I project it will be...the JOB will soon be a distant memory.

It's all about freedom...and I have never found so much as a remote glimpse being slave to a 'limited' income or the likes of a salaried job. Just not my cup of tea! (I have been self-employed since 17, and made more money on pool tables at 14 yrs old then my job pays now

If I can turn a mere $5,000 -$10,000 investment into a consistent $80-$100K per year online, I will be forever grateful and content. *Not to say that is my end goal...but a start.

Til then, it's 40 hours offline, and 40 hours online...it's only a matter of time now; the money's already there waiting to be had. It rests on my shoulders to layout, blueprint, construct, and collect it!

A work in progress, a fun one at that!

PS - I too believe my job is getting in the way of my online business. However, until I can match or surpass my income, logic compels me to stick it out a bit longer...arrrrggghhh

The vast majority of my income comes from freelance writing and one of my niche websites that I've been running for three years (mainly Amazon Associates and Adsense).

I've branched to freelance writing about a year ago because I think a lot of people don't realize there is so much potential out there and active income is certainly worth it especially when you build clients instead of just a list.

My husband works and I stay home so 100% of my personal income comes from working online. I like it this way! I can keep the house clean and make sure the home is taken care of and still bring in money doing something I really enjoy. I just wish I had more friends around here interested in IM so I had more people to talk to about it. I start telling my husband about what I've been doing and his eyes glaze over because he doesn't understand how it works.

100% of my current income comes from online marketing. I don't have a day job and that was by choice. Hubby and I were living in London where we both had day jobs, but we decided to move to California (where DH is from), so we left everything behind (including our day jobs) and moved here and set up our own online marketing business. It's been tough but I wouldn't change working for myself for anything.
Our income is still quite low, so we still rely on our savings to a big extend, but it's going up every month. In July we were actually close to covering half of our business and living expenses with the money we made. We're hoping that by the end of the year at the latest our business will be covering all of our living expenses and from then on we should be able to start saving some too.
We've been in business since late April, but have only been working full time on it since late June, so we're actually doing very ok for the short time we've been around.

These day's its very well spread out (through choice).

All of our income (my business partner, myself, and 57 team members) come from our income "online". At least thats how it started.

Now its probably a good 40% / 60% split

40% directly from online (products we own)

60% from offline & site entities (our SEO company, ecommerce sites, lead gen sites, authority sites)

We've been through ups, and downs, and our entire model has changed no less than 2 times in 6 years.

Evolve or die

Such is the way with online.

Not to be negative or a buttinsky, but for those of you saying 100% of your income comes from IM, what do you do with your money? Don't you invest it in anything?

As for me, my income sources are:

- IM (overwhelming majority comes from this)
- return on investments of IM income
- book royalties
- retirement pay from a real world job in my previous life

It's risky having all your eggs in one basket. On the other hand, to answer the rest of the question, I do not have a day job.

As of now, it's 70% from my daytime job and 30% from my online job. But I would like that percentage change since I am still trying to learn a few more information and idea regarding Affiliate Marketing and creating of my own website. I can only be online mostly during night time because I have my daytime job.
I am setting my plan to make my online earning becomes 80% and my daytime job (as part timers) because I still have this concept of working outside (my box).

Dennis thats a good question.

When we move into our wealth building strategy, it will be investing in other area's.

We considered gold a few years back.... didn't do it.... should have obviously.

The cliche answer is...... Invest in your strengths.

For us that will be to do with bigger sites and software development outside of the IM industry.

Up until now it has been re-investment into our team and ability to perform.

This is what has let us grow the most.

One of us has a job that he loves -- or at least doesn't hate.

I've been full-time site-building and doing Amazon FBA for 1 1/2 years now. All profits are reinvested. We're on track to retire in 4 1/2 years with 60 profitable websites, 100% of our pre-retirement income and no mortgage.

I make 100% of my living on from my businesses. Around 80% of that comes from my online business.

And of the 80% that comes from my online business around 80% of that is from niche's outside of the "make money" niche.

Without a doubt...day job. I am hoping to switch that ratio in the future. Hopefully, after my first full year of IM, I'll be able to say that my online endeavors at least equal my earnings from my day job (or exceed). My online income has been growing month by month so I have hope.

Of my personal income, I probably get about 30% from my online properties. My business actually makes a fair bit more money than I do at work, but I don't put most of that money into my pocket. It usually gets reinvested.

Not so far ...

I like owning and building up a real asset-based business which isn't tied to the success/continuity/availability of any individual product at all, and the freedom to change products if/when necessary/advisable without too much additional work, and the freedom from all those "other issues" that vendors have to deal with all the time. Contrary to the impressions given in many threads here, I think affiliates have much more overall security and fewer worries than vendors.

Sales are increasing, I have learned how to market us online, we are the only ones in Canada who offer what we offer. Not everyone wants or needs our product, it's not essential to one's life!

100% of my income is from our online biz. Hubby helps with part of what we do, but the bulk is up to me. I made about $750. last month, which I think is pretty decent for a young online biz.

We hope someday it'll be a good earner and hubby can start to back off of his day job and look forward to retirement down the road and a pension cheque. Got a ways to go, but things are progressing well.

You dont get to be a success overnite, it takes time and hard work and patience!

Most of my income is generated through writing - I write SEO content for online businesses, including web pages, articles, blog posts and press releases. I would say that 75% of my income comes from writing.

The remaining 25% comes from affiliate marketing, blogging, CPA offers, etc. I can definitely tell anyone on this forum who is struggling that you CAN make an incredible amount of money on the internet IF you are willing to work and learn whatever it takes!

My income mostly comes from my primary job but the extra I get from IM pays for my vacation and other things I enjoy doing.

I don't think I would ever quit my job though even if I made an unimaginable amount of money through IM as my job holds other values in society that money can't simply buy.

Haven't had a job in over thirty years. Have always worked the same principle.
Find the source for an in-demand product. Ad value to it and sell it at a profit.
About 10 or 12 years ago, I found that my computer saved time and gas.
It's been fun. It's like a big game, but played with real money. I love it.

This has been a real inspiring thread! I'm just started out, currently unemployed. I'm a teacher by trade, just qualified, but lack of work means I'll probably only get a few days work a week, if that, by the end of the end September onwards. So I have ample time to invest in my IM career and see what comes of it! I've started a few weeks back, just come back off a relaxing holiday! I'm now refreshed and ready to go!

For me - having a JOB is important - you get health benefits, paid vacations, sick leaves, quick approval on a bank loan or mortgage ... all kinds of goodies that sweeten up your life. A good decent job which pays handsomely ... who can refuse to that.

Real Estate - assets are what brings in safetu cushion and for me this is rent money and I can recommend this to anyone who wants to escape the rat race for good.

Coaching - really awesome way to live out your passuion to make a huge impact on other people's lives

Info products - they are like "found money". You work a lot to create them - I do all my ebooks, but when it's done ... you get paid every time someone buys.

For me this is a healthy ratio between growing within a corporation, building wealth creation assets, growing your own business and adding additional strreams of income without spending the additional time to obtain that income. My future plans: add a zero at the end of my income from each of the area

I've been self-employed now for almost 30 years and I'm not sure I could work for someone else.

I closed down my home-based business a little over a year ago and now am 100% online income from niche websites and domain names. I'm currently working on some of my own products.

I'm so burned out from serving a demanding client base in a business that was 24/7 with a steady stream of work, day in and day out. I'm not making nearly as much money, but my stress level is zero. I don't have to deal with clients, I don't have demanding and constant production deadlines or people telling me I charge too much. I don't have to deal with people working for me, or nag them to get their work done or listen to excuses about why they won't get their work done. I don't have to invoice or do payroll. Every time I think about offering services to IMers and others, I feel ill all over again. Hopefully, the burnout will go away sooner rather than later - I USED to be a very ambitious person.

My spouse has an excellent job with excellent benefits and that's what pays the bills. Whatever I make is reinvested in my online business.

Saving up to buy a house real soon. Houses in Singapore aren't very cheap. Next will go into investments like forex, stocks & properties.

That's amazing, isn't it, that property prices in so-called 'third world' countries are comparable to the UK?

Where I come from originally the prices are probably higher than the UK.

And that's despite the fact the average monthly earnings for a good post is usually nowhere near enough to last a month.

Well, 100% of my income comes from web development, graphics designing and doing SEO. I love computers too since I was a kid and I am a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

I agree with the "Freedom" mentioned by the other warriors.
