newbie facebook question

Hello,

I was on Time magazine website viewing an article. Bellow the article was a comment section. Below all comment boxes there was a Reply and a Like button. There was also an option at the top to use Facebook, Twitter, etc... in your comment. I have a Facebook account that I would use here. My question is would it be useful to make comments here with the hopes that someone will click on the like button? In other words, would it help ultimately to drive traffic to my Facebook page?? In another forum, I was asked if there was an option to use my fan page, there was no such option.

Thanks,
Daigger

You cannot comment on another blog as anyone other than yourself. So it cannot be your service/product/company page. However, if you say something remarkable, maybe that will drive traffic to yourself which would in turn lead people to whatever else you have to offer.

I think you are saying that you want to use your Facebook page to comment instead of your Facebook Account, which I think is not possible currently. Also you should know, if someone likes your comment, they are liking your comment only and not your Facebook Page. Although if you manage to be a good and frequent commenter on any blog, chances are people will be interested in knowing you more and perhaps send you a request on Facebook (not very likely though).

I believe any benefits go to the site hosting the Facebook button, not the one who clicks it or makes comments. Liking a comment on Time magazine spreads the word about the Time site to your FB friends, right?

Actually it does neither. I had someone click on the like button on a comment I had made. There was no mention of Time in either of our Facebook accounts. It simply shows the amount of likes you have in that community. You can however have a link on your name in the comment that sends users to your Facebook page.

        Thanks for the input guys,
