what exactly is a resource box?

Is it simply a section at the end of an article with a link?

The word "box" throws me off. I think of a "resource box" as an area on the page enclosed in a box like container (shaded, border, stands out) with tool options inside it, versus just a link back to the authors website.

Sorry for the newbie dumbass question

Don't feel dumb...we were all there before! And chances are that there are others wondering the exact same thing!

You are correct, the "resource box" is typically a few sentences at the end of your article.

When you are submitting the article to an article directory, the resource information is usually inserted into a separate section of the submission page...in its own "box". That is where that term comes from.

Many directories have the resource information separated from the main article by ads or other text, such as ezinearticles.com does, while other will have the resource information flowing seemlessly after the last paragraph of your article as if it was part of the article itself.

The resource box is a very important part of your article marketing efforts as it is the main avenue for your ultimate goal...getting the reader to your own website!

Every day I check the obituaries. If I don't see my name there, then I know it's going to be a good day!

      Hi Absbica

      (is that your name?)

Allen is right on the button. Forget the idea of "box"

There is no box. In fact there is no resource.

Article writing is a give and take thing and the take bit is where you look to get people to click through to do whatever it is you want to do. This is called the resource box.

      This could be

      • Signing up to a list
      • making a purchase
      • Visiting a website
start looking around at what Allen and other expert authors do and you will get the idea

    Absbica,
Think of it as an extension to the article, some directories allow a resource box and a author bio box both.

Let's say you just osted an article on weight loss then on your resource box you would want something like

    HTML Code:
For more great weight loss tips join the "Shed My Pounds News"
and get more <a href="MYNEWSLETTER.COM">Free Weight Loss advice</a>.
     <br /><br />
Are you ready to take that next step and you are wanting to do
something today then take action now and visit: <a href="MYDOMAIN.COM">Weight Loss City</a>
This is just an example but you should get the idea, most directories allow at-least 2 links.

I liked the look of the resource box example you gave. Your first link is to a newsletter... would clicking on this link take you to a squeeze page on your site to enable them to sign up to your newsletter? If so, have you found this approach to be successful?

      all the best

Another note is it's a good idea to transition smoothly from your blog post to the resource box so it seems like it is a part of the article, this will result in a higher click through rate to your resource box links...
