Should probably use more than keywords... Be creative....create a "call to action"

Some, but some of it may be "curious traffic", not "serious traffic".

You can but i don't think that traffic will convert as good as the traffic you would get from google search or other kind of traffic.

yes, you can defintely get traffic. Though, do you mean inserting keywords so it can be used as backlinks?

You can serious traffic. But you need to sell it, like anything else.

      For example:

Simply putting up a keyword sig indicates you're not serious about wanting visitors and just trying to get SEO link juice.

But if you add a little extra - explaining why someone should click your link, then you're more likely to get good traffic.

      .

Got a question here... If you explain stuff in your signature, wouldn't that make the sig very long and people wouldn't even bother to read it?

I know signature is a way to get traffic because I click on signature links in WF all the time. It is just so tempting to when the person who is posting sounds like they know what they're talking about.

      lol, me too

I clicked many times on signature links and I couldn't explain why I did it. Just a few days ago I clicked on a signature (sorry, I don't remember who had it) and even subscribed to that guy, right from the page I landed on. And this time I did it cause I was interested. The guy offered a WP plugin to create squeeze pages and I wanted it, and since it was free.... why not?

You can get traffic through people reading your posts on forum, especially if it is informative and well-written. If your question is about organic traffic then also yes the keywords in your signature can rank well in google, depending upon the competition of course. You wrote about only using forum signatures and I think it is also helpful to have additional types of links including articles, press releases etc to help with the organic ranking.

Depends on how you're interacting in the forums. If you're spamming, then no, if you're an active, contributing member, then a BIG YES!

For example, in all the photography forums I'm active in, my sig on each post gets me a lot of referral visits to my site, it has been doing that even in forums I no longer visit. My forum-based referrals account for 30% of my visits.

I only post once <10x a year in big sites like photography-on-the.net, for example, but I've been receiving traffic from that site for over 2 years now. I'd love to post more but the demographics and 'crowd' isn't that engaging in that forum (it's too big) so I prefer posting on smaller, local (Asian) sites.

Even in Darren Rowse's Digital Photography School forum, I just joined that site last month, made one post and I've already received about 50 referrals from his site on a single post.

In fact, the Philippine-based photography forum I moderate throws me over 2K visits a month... and that's a relatively low-traffic site (forum-wise).

Just make sure your posts are relevant, meaningful, and not spammy. It takes a while to build the cred and exposure, but they do work tremendously well if you're an active member of a forum. If you're just there spamming, mods will boot you out pretty much instantly.

Good question, I was wondering this myself like two seconds ago. I just linked one of my most popular reviews in my signature because I am interested in what the traffic stats to that page from my WF signature will be. My WSO has always been linked in my signature and I think that is where a lot of traffic to my WSO comes from but I can't say for sure, because I have over 10 affiliates through WarriorPlus promoting my WSO. But it'll be interesting to see how many people have reached my review site through my signature in the morning.

Just curious, what type's of things are you putting in your signature?

The niche that I have been focusing on is the DJ niche. It's a passion project for sure, but it's what I do for my day job, and I consider myself an expert in it. I post on forums not only as a form of marketing, but because it's something I love and want to contribute.

The reason I am asking is that I imo the DJ and Photography niches are very similar. You have the beginners trying to learn new skills, you have the gear nuts, and you have a lot of knowledgable people with years of experience in it.

To the O.P. - I get traffic to my "IM" blog in my signature because of this forum. I also have gotten a few clicks to my DJ blog from the other forums I post on. I could do more with them, but I'm trying to avoid being spammy.

It's possible, and some people do well at it. You have to be a valuable participant. If all you do is say you agree with others and things like that, you probably won't get much traffic.

It's also important to test your signature. You don't have to leave it the same all the time, and if you participate regularly, you may want to change it up so people notice it more often.

if you are part of a forum about red shoes

and you have a website about red shoes and you reply to alot of post's related to red shoes with a link to your website ...about red shoes

then yes you can get generic traffic

its actually a great way to get some free traffic ..

however if you have a site about black shoes

and you try to get them to check out your site about.. zoo animals

    tough luck

With a signature link in a forum you can get 2 types of traffic:
    - direct < people click on your signature if you:
    a. post good info
    b. have a call to action in your signature
    - organic < if the forum is a high PR forum, one that's in the good lights of the Search Engines (like WF is) than you will also get some serp improvement by posting a signature link (heck, that's basicaly what forum profile links are after all)

If your question is in regards of a scenario like "some dude does a google search, finds the forum and clicks on your link"... well... it's posible... Not sure if you know, but that used to be a way to attract visits a while back: search for "keyword" in forums, and post. It doesn't matter if it's an old post or whatever, if it comes up in Google's first page you can get some trafic from it.

    Hope it makes sense,
    Alex

The answer to your question is YES.

Of course on forums such as this one most people will want to read all the free information on the forum first. However, when you write something of real value, or something which creates curiosity, then a certain proportion of people will click the link in your sig to find out more about you.

I average about $250/week from my sig link in this forum alone. Why? Well firstly some of the posts I have written have been really well received and thus give me lots of continuous exposure, and secondly because the people who click the link are super targeted and seriously focused on learning more about me.

Strangely I wrote a post on this forum when I first started about why not using you sig properly was a sin, but I got shot down. I can only guess that people either do not value the sig link or that they have never experienced success with it.

But if your posts have good content which shows your knowledge then people will click through to your site and buy your products - I know that first hand.

Posting purely keyword-driven signatures could get you banned from some forums, or it could just lead to not being able to have the signature privilege at all. And, yes, that includes the Warrior Forum.

So, while you may see some benefit from it, be very careful that you don't cross the line and lose the ability to post your sig in various forums.

I believe much of the traffic will be the "inquiring minds wanna know" like other marketer's, but I have both purchased certain items, and sold items through a sig link.

Think I need to change mine...there's some HOT new items with some "Everyone needs this NOW mojo" - just remember to link to your site NOT direct to an affiliate offer...

I got spanked with a minor infraction for making that newbie mistake! (seems a long time ago now...)

It's possible to get traffic and even some sales from forum traffic, but it's not as targeted as say search engine traffic where people are actually typing in stuff they are looking for. It's good to get links from a variety of sources, so making use of forums is still a good idea.

Think longer term. Get them signed up on your List but do not push them right away with Product Promo.Or at least if you do, do not expect an avalanche of sales right away.

It takes more work than that and will require building a relationship with multiple emails sent out over time to them

If you are posting on a forum that is highly relevant to the topic of your website and offer, then you can get good traffic that is quite targeted and can convert.

I get minimal traffic from here, but it is not the only way to get people to come to your site. This should be a mere part of an overall strategy. I get traffic by responding to Craigslist ads, writing optimized blog posts, Google +, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.

You have to have a variety of ways to drive traffic to a central location where you can either create an ongoing, profitable relationship with your audience, or sell them something.
