Automated Social Bookmarking

Do you guys use automated social bookmarking?

I just found out about socialmarker.com through a post by GoGetta.

socialmarker seems to have an upsell with "Social Submitter" and then I found "Bookmarking Demon" on clickbank.

Do you guys use any of these? Anything else? Ratings/reviews?

Thanks!

There are lots of these around.

Really it comes down to what systems you're already using.

If you're just promoting a blog - you can use a free plugin to get every new post auto submitted to all of the social sites.

There's a video I made which includes how to do this in my sig below.

I also use systems like Traffic Geyser for blogging, video sharing etc...

There are also tools for most of those things (like tubemogul for video) which are free but at some point your time needs to be factored in and you need to decide how to spend it.

I have used Senuke for this and it works well. It will really save you a bunch of time if you are doing very much bookmarking.

You can try Socializer (free) Socializer - free automatic social bookmark submission

I tend to shy away from some of these because I don't like to create linking footprints for web 2.0 sites, because I don't want the search engines to relate my bookmarks, I want them to look as 'natural' as possible.

It's a very bad bad bad idea.

When you use one of these tools, you get a lot of links from social bookmarking sites, but none of them have much internal linking support on the site because you aren't getting many votes. This triggers the Google Social Slapdown -- google actually penalizes your article for not getting many votes because it thinks you're just spamming (which you are).

It's far more productive to concentrate on being able to draw 50-100 diggs, reddits, props, etc than to waste time submitting 100s of links to these spam overridden sites anyway.

This was a good tactic about this time last year, but it's dead now.

ltdraper, thanks for the input. I was actually planning on using it on a web store that has fashion accessories - does that make things any different?

Any tips on drawing the 50-100 diggs, reddits, etc?

      Thanks!

I have both Bookmarking Demon and Social Bot...both are good.

The latest update to Bookmarking Demon is pretty nice, it's got the account creation automated and added a lot of new bookmarking and scuttle sites...I think the total is now up past 100..

No, it doesn't make any difference. Weak links are weak links. You'll be the victim of a google slap no matter what niche you're working.

        You could read my blog at promote-my-site.com, there's lots of tips there. :}

There are no quick fixes. Start off with one network and spend 30 days of about 20 minutes/day building a profile. Don't submit any of your own stuff, just submit good content that's likely to do well on the network. Build relationships with the "players" on that network, and vote for their submissions. Spend time putting in witty comments. Don't be controversial or political.

After you've built up a profile you can start submitting your own stuff with a 1:10 ratio of your stuff to other content.

Get as many AIM/email/etc addresses of people you run into in these groups that are also "playing the game." Set up a mailing list on something like google groups for vote exchanges and invite them to it. Join as many of those as you can find. Build a strong list of on-site and off-site friends that you can count on to vote your submissions.

It takes patience, but in a few months of really only 20 minutes/day worth of work you can build a profile that can draw the 50-100 votes you need to move something on the network. Later, rinse, repeat with the other networks. Once you can move something towards the top of 3 different networks you're golden.

Take this from an expert that has done this ... Do not listen to bull crap advice from someone that has no idea what they talk about. You can use any automative means you wish and it will not hurt you one bit.

Bookmark your articles, videos, blog, website, profiles, bookmarks, and etc.. Google has no idea who, when, how, where, and anything else on the creation of these links. They have no possible way to monitor billions of sites 24/7/365, nobody has this ability as it would be impossible to monitor billions of sites every single second of the day.

Just to prove the bad advice that was given to you.. Think about it, if you do a PR Web press release and pay the $300 for their top release you would get thousands of backlinks within hours. Do you honestly think google will give you some mythical slap for that ???? If that was true then press releases, news releases, article syndication would all be useless.

Bull Crap ... I do thousands upon thousands every single day and never once had a false mythical google slap. Over the last year I have done 3.5 million bookmarks and not once any kind of penalty from google.

You really need to stop spreading unproven bad advice like this. Google has no idea how those links was created, that's impossible for them to know.

If what you said was true I could go get all my competition slapped out of google..

Agreed. I've run xrumer a couple of times for some sites just to see what it would do and no slap for me. I had like 10,000 links done for one page in a day.

how do you get REAL social bookmarks created by REAL people?

That seems to me what the key would be.

Anyone have an answer to that?

I'm against the shotgun approach to social networking, but if you've really got your heart set on that, you can use the Amazon Mechanical Turk service and hire people to submit/bookmark your posts. For instance, you can pay 100 people .05 each to favorite your blog in Technorati.

A good use of these social bookmarking tools is to create profiles on 100s of social networking sites, but don't submit your articles. Just drop links on the profile page.

      Hah! Thanks for the video.

I take the same stance on automated software.

It's definitely very tempting, but more of a short term gain.

Question for you: How much did you make with that auto-poster when CL allowed it?

      Thanks!

Don't you think it is just a tad ironic that you base your reasons for not using automated software on the fact that you spammed Craigs list and got majorly B*tchslapped for doing so? I wonder if you would still take this same stance had you not been caught and banned?:p
