One authority site or 7 small niche sites?

Hi warriors, I'm working on a new project and I can't decide whether to go with a authority site or 7 small niche sites.

The problem is that there are no google ads for this niche and my basic thought was to promote 2 clickbank products in this niche.

I know for a fact that I can write endless amount of articles about this topic, but I also want to make good profit.

Any suggestions ?

Mike

What I usually do is build one big site then later on build a series of smaller sites to link to it. The big sites are maintained regularly but the small ones aren't. This works pretty good for me.

If you are a bit skeptical about the niche and the populaitry of it, perhaps you want to test it out with some paid traffic. Not sure if you have the budget but it might just be worth it before creating the sites and filling them with content only to find out its not profitable.

The niche is very popular and I got 2 perfect clickbank products for it.

But I don't know if I should buy 7 sites and struggle with all the seo and backlinks or just build 1 authority site.

I find smaller niche sites to be more personal and have good conversion.

If I go with smaller sites there will be alot of sniper sites to compete with.

Perfect Go for one authority site, bring traffic, promote that clickbank products and if the site is valuable you'll earn more than if you had seven small sites that are not valuable.
Use profits to build a second authority site. Instead of seven sites that are difficult to manage better focus on 1-2 authority sites.

        Good Luck !

Why not do both - this way you have 1 or 2 big authority sites and then a couple more few mini sites to fall back on in case anything happens to your one big site..

I am with Vlad Bacioiu, but I also like Rich Struck's strategy.

You will have a better chance at success by building an authority site than by building micro sites.

Time spent building authority sites is almost never wasted, on the other hand if you build micro sites, many will fail so you would have wasted your time.

Good luck with whichever you choose

The one authority site will probably earn more, but that's by no means a guarantee.

Niche as it applies to Internet Marketing means a specific area of interest.

For example, "Weight-loss" is a niche.

Usually a niche has sub-niches... "Diet" and "Exercise" for example are sub-niches of "Weight-loss".

Any site (whether it is a mini-site or an authority site) targetting a niche can be called a niche site.

I hope that this answers your questions.

well you have to start with just one and build that up then decide. If you start with 7 sites right away you'll be working on 7 sites all at once and essentially getting no where.

Build on site until it's making enough income then decide if you want to keep working on that site or continue to make even more sites. Whatever you decide start with just one.

You could build lots of mini-sites and see which ones are the most successful, then focus on these ones and expand into a bigger authority site. So it's a matter of looking at what works, and keep making it better.

I would agree with the strategy of starting by building an authority site because this would also give you the potential to add more products to promote over the long term as long as your authority site is broad enough to allow for this.

As your authority site gains traction begin building out other sites in other niches to compare results or indeed build out 1 or 2 mini sites in other niches as a comparison and also as a spearhead into other areas. In the end the idea however is for each of your sites to be authorities within their respective niches. This would be better in terms of traffic for the long term plus gives you the potential to actually sell your site for a profit if you wanted an exit strategy down the road.

Simply having 7 mini sites which are not doing very much in comparison to an authority site which is compounding in terms of traffic/sales is really not a strategy for long term success as far as I can tell unless you have a very specific product you wish to promote for each of the 7 niches but even then it feels to me like you would be putting your eggs in one basket instead of spreading your risk.
