Software or Programs to Check for Site Speed and/or Uptime?

Hi Warriors,
I am looking for a program or software that can check the website speed and also uptime of the website....

Do you have any experience and have tried any that you could recommend?

    For keeping an eye on my site status, I use Free Website Uptime Monitoring - Uptime Robot

    you can set it up for sms, rss, email or twitter notifications and best of all its free (up to 50? sites)

    I've picked up the free version of one at Free Web Server Health and Uptime Monitoring
    They are supposed to email you if your sites ever go down and there is some site response and testing information, but no help in trying to understand what it all means. I added 5 sites, but only 3 are shown in the graphical portion, but still, what I was interested in is notice if and when a site goes down.

    I'm certain plenty of warriors have experience with it!
