Amazon Cloudfront & EC2

Hey guys,

I've been using Amazon S3 since they launched it, and very happy with it.

..Apart from streaming videos, which can be pretty slow.

I've been looking into Amazon Cloudfront and EC2.. but I'm not sure if I understand things correctly.

Do I need EC2 to use Cloudfront with my S3 buckets?

Thanks for your help.

      Hello

No you don't. You can use s3 independent of ec2 it's not necessary

Remember ec2 is cloud hosting server that allows you to host sites just like a dedicated server or vps.

Cloud front is like s3 but it's a CDN. Means same version of your content will be available from different geographic datacenters of amazon. You should go for cloud front if your audience is global and you want them to access your content from their nearest datacenter. If majority of your traffic is US based then s3 is good enough
