Finally found a golden nugget!

Hey warriors

Well I've been doing IM for about four months now. I have a couple sites and I'm starting to really understand how this business works.

Ok, so i finally found that golden nugget i hear about. An untapped niche were all of the keywords are open to buy an exact domain and will definitely convert. Very exciting! I was at work and a voice in my head just told me the keyword. Pretty weird considering I only read about the subject once about 4 years ago. Anyway, there are only few products in this niche and the big main product I can use in my domain name. So my question is, should i make one or two websites? The product name has searches for review, and buy, but would it just be easier and more efficient to make one authoritative site that targets those two keywords while targeting all the other highly searched keywords and i can produce alot more content. Or make two websites were the smaller site focuses highly on that one main product? I hope that makes sense. All feedback welcome

-Laces out!

I am a butterfly chaser so I prefer making one hundred sites that each make a dollar... rather than one that makes a hundred...

But this is probably bad advice....Although, Having more sites means you can own more top positions in the SERPS

Thanks drumguru, Ya I was actually thinking that. The only downside to that would be writing more content and doing more backlinking. Would you start would the product name domain or the bigger broader keyword domain first?

I would personally do the more targeted (product site) first because it would be a bit easier to rank... Hopefully you can make a bit of money quicker with this site, then you can spend more of your time developing the broader (authority) site slowly, because it will take a bit more effort to get ranked and monetize...

Make sure the product name isn't trademarked if you want to keep your domain. They DMCA pretty quick if you rank at all on their terms.

I was going to post the same thing.

If the domain name has a product name or other trademarked term in it, that may be why it's still available.

I've read the affiliate contract and i did not see anything about using the trademark name. I will contact the company before buying the domain. Also what's the common practice to see wheather or not you can use a products name? Does everyone just contact the company? I see it often and have realized that it's one of the better ways to make affiliate sales.

I generally just steer clear of product or business names in my actual domain. As far as I know there's nothing wrong with the product or trademark term displaying in the URL, just best not to put it in the actual domain name unless you have permission.

Some companies won't care, in fact, most probably won't care or notice. But there's always the chance that one day a big company with deep pockets will care, and they may have grounds for legal action against you.

You're doing the right thing by asking permission first.

I personally caught a 3 letter keyword that gets 368,000 exact searches monthly, and 2.2 million broad searches with 'low' competition. This is the main keyword that all the trailing keywords spawn from, and is the first really good one I have landed of maybe 100 domains I've bought so far.

(*Note: I hyphenated the letters, so I don't know how bad that will hurt me when I start trying to rank these sites in the SERPs)

Personally, I bought all 6 available domains ($48), and am planning to split-test with 2-3 sites by applying a massive 'keyword' attack utilizing long and short trailing keywords in and throughout my articles, backlinks, and SEO practices, all pointing back to the "Mother-ship site" which will then link to the MONEY PAGE!

Like you mentioned, this is all starting to make sense how the elements work together, and I think if you write your articles/content with proper SEO and keyword placement, build a solid amount of backlinks, and do some serious spinning and registry submissions...you'll do well in any niche.

I am aiming for organic and targeted traffic over that of PPC or paid ads, so these methods may or may not be your cup of tea. If you're looking for some great video training, this WSO helped me understand building niche sites in a whole new light...

Matt's only charging like $9 per month right now, and his training is awesome!

    Just a thought.

Naturally, it take some time to build....but I found some killer sales copies on Clickbank that offer instant solutions to peoples problems, along with some great research concerning prevention, reviews, and remedies that could 'funnel' some traffic to boost my rankings matching my keyword(s).

Just thinking out loud here. But do you see any Adsense ads at all for these keywords? Because if not, there probably isn't much there. Not being negative here, just speaking from experience.

I've found that having one "Main" website with a handful of "Satellite" sites (selling the same product) promoting/pointing/linking to it has worked pretty well for me.

That way, if visitors come to ANY of the sites, they have an opportunity to purchase the product...while the satellite sites also up your PR to the main site!

Of course, it will depend on the product/service if this will work.

      Test, Test, Test!

Yes there is some adsense, not much because there's only one company i know that makes a product. There definitely money to be made its just something that i would say 1 of every 500 people has even heard about. Its something you ingest. Thanks for the reply though (i have already made that mistake)

Thanks for the great information. I'll definitely keep all of that in mind and congratz on the success. I also am focused on organic traffic through seo and backlinking. I'm going through Andrew Hansen, and Josh Stanton's course and getting some coaching. If anyone's interest it's called the unstoppable affiliate. Its a very good course.

the company that has the trade on CAT more than likely does not have the trade on C-A-T

The hyphen usually will not hurt you in a two phrase keyword CAT-Collar but would take odds that C-A-T is going to have a very hard time outranking CAT and C-A-T could even be concidered munipulative by Google

Others have made many good points, so I'm only going to addresses the question of whether you should make one or two sites.

I've always found the more "buy buttons" I have out there the more I earn. That presupposes you have the time to promote them both or know how to get them ranked.

I think you should create 2 sites and then continue to build them up into authourity sites. You will rank faster when your efforts are more targeted.

I'm going to go against the grain here and say that if you're a newbie, just build the one site and see how it goes. Buy both domains, but just focus on link building and ranking one and making sales from that one site, then once it's making you an income, use the second domain and repeat the same steps then. Spreading themselves too thin is one mistake I see a lot of newbies make.

I would use the umbrella broad keyword for the domain name and then create keyword named categories for each of the other hot niches. That way you have the convenience and lower cost of one domain and yet the keyword still appears in the URL. E.g.

    mybroadkeyword dot com / my-really-hot-niche1.htm
