Can anyone shed any more light on this? I am with Hostgator and I have no issues, (except Cpanel does not work in Chrome but works great in Firefox!). I am just starting in WordPress and I don't want to make it hard for my self.

  • Love my hostgator - as far as ease of install; gads man... how damn hard is it to click a button?

    • Jim, if you install WP using Fantastico (which I assumed because of the "click a button" phrase), then your blog is very susceptible to hackers.
  • Sometimes it looks (to me, at least) that HG is kind of over-rated: a herd mentality effect. A few people started to praise it and everybody went with them.

There are many other decent hosts out there, both for WP and/or other type of sites.
  • Cpanel works great on my Chrome... are you sure yours does not work?
  • They both have their pros and cons, as long as one works for you and not causing you any problem yet I don't see why you want to go through all this hassle of thinking about changing hosts.
  • Well, I don't have many sites at HostGator and I have no WordPress sites at all, I plan to have a bunch of WordPress sites in the near future, if what is written is still valid then I see BlueHost is easier. Much easier. But maybe I should be asking, if people know is HostGAtor has fixed this yet?
  • StableHost is superior to most hosting company's I've seen.

I don't even get what people see in hostgator. Stay as far away from "unlimited" hosts as you can. Every webmaster should know that.
  • I have both Bluehost and Hostgator accounts.

My preference is for Hostgator as their support is much better and more importantly their uptime is much better than Bluehost.

    • That surprises me. I have two Bluehost accounts and host several sites with them. They are never down.
  • Yea, I hear that Bluehost's support is not as good as Hostgator's support. I think support is very important when deciding which hosting company to go with.
  • Hostgator > Bluehost
Hostgator guarantees 99.9% moneyback uptime guarantee while bluehost doesnt provide such guarantee.
However it is true hostgator do not update their php often so that it is quite annoying at times when you need to update your wordpress blogs of other websites such as e-commerce

On Bluehost, you can click one button and ALL your websites get updated at once. If you have multiple niche websites, this is a HUGE time saver.
