Hi,

I see it here all the time people talking about flipping websites and making good money.

I'm wondering, has anybody actually made any decent money from flipping websites?

If so, whats the secret?

I definitely have, in fact I realize this comes off as a shameless plug, but I've got a WSO on the topic going right now.

It's definitely possible to make a lot of money flipping websites, but it isn't as easy as registering a domain, sticking wordpress and a couple posts on it and selling it for $500 anymore. Those days are over, sadly!

    Yes, it is possible.

Just head over to Flippa.com and look through the recent sales. You will notice that certain user names appear again and again.

When your dealing with flipping websites like imdomination said above you can't just stick a domain and wordpress together and sale it, although I have seen it done. You should look to add value to any website you plan sale. Always have the buyer in mind how can you make this a good buy for them. You can try turnkey website around a service. A lot of sites like that are being listed at the moment. You can also hit up dp and see if there are good sites there to try to flip for a profit. The turnkey method is by far the cheapest way to go. Just look at what is being sold first, do your research. I feel that is where most flippers fail, is not doing their homework first.

Certainly, you can make money from selling profitable
businesses (NOT flipping websites)! Make your websites,
sustain its profitability for some months before taking it
to the marketplace for sale. You will make money

Yes, almost 6 figures now. The secret? There is none - all you need is quality content, good rankings, traffic and consistent monthly revenue. If your site has all of those then it's nearly guaranteed to sell.

I used to sell quite a few sites but not so much anymore. These days I prefer to develop the sites and build up the income rather than sell them.

I have sold one of my websites for $150 on Flippa. Not that much but it works.
the best pricing strategy is to multiply monthly earnings by 12 (year's profit).

If your site makes $30/ mo so, it can be sold for around $300-$360

I buy and sell sites right now....most of my sites are turnkey sites. It is not easy to sell a site with domain and a theme stick to it, but lucky for me, I found a way to get aged domains cheaply. So I am able to sell sites for $150 a pop.

I am currently creating a system and outsource the blog creation to VA, leaving me only the job of getting domains and listing on flippa. The cost price is $40....

Also, I buys potential sites, mainly sites with traffic....my goal is build up the traffic and either sell it or keep it to generate revenue.

Bottom-line, if you consistently sell sites, you can build up a list of buyers who will buy almost any site you sell (already have 2). So yes, it's profitable as long as you know what they want.

I bought and sold a site in the span of 5 days on Flippa for a profit of about $60 and now I'm totally addicted. But I'm now working on ways to create more value and make a larger profit margin through website sales but it's involving a lot more work than I expected. It'll happen! KISS (keep it simple, stupid!)

It is kind of hard to make money from flipping sites with Flippa because there is so much competition to buy the good sites. Most of the good sites sell for what they are worth, bargains are very hard to find on Flippa.

A good way to find websites to buy is to do a search on google for a medium to high search volume keyword, then contact the owners of the websites ranking in the top 50 positions and ask them if they want to sell their site. Offer them half of what they want, then negotiate from there.

After you buy the site, build some links to the site to drive it into the top 5 for that keyword, and then sell it on Flippa or just keep it and monetize it.

I recently discovered Flippa and was rather excited at first, seeing all those sites selling for up to $50,000. Wow! How i'd like a piece of the action. But within a few days of analyzing the various site stats, i started to notice a trend that had the alarm bells ringing! So many blog sites selling with a BIN price that was the same as the monthly revenue. The seller pitch was the usual pathetic "I need to money to invest in my other sites etc.." What??
I also began to notice similar cloned sites selling well, adsense sites with huge traffic that were only set up 3 weeks ago. Do you smell a rat? I did!
Then i discovered Warrior Forum and am i glad i did. Some serious Net Guru gems on here highlighting the Flippa Scammers. My hunch was right: would you ever sell a site bringing in $500pm for $300- $500? I don't think so.
Flippa has been contaminated by these scammers who will eventually weaken this site's service. It really is in their interests to have a purge on these nasty ticks and close their accounts. I am setting up a few blog sites and i will be using customised wordpress themes, my own articles and will try and draw traffic in with quality and humour. And then i'll try and get some backlinks - the right way. Maybe, if traffic improves, i'll use good affiliate links, banner ads suitable for that niche subject. And if one site brings in $500pm, i will not be selling it, oh no! I will be hoping to get to $1000pm. Enjoy your coffee Warriors.

I'm new to flipping and feeling upset. I created an Authority site on a niche - Dating, did the on page SEO, got the site indexed, got 3 articles, got youtube videos and then put it on flippa. No backlinks have been done. Unfortunately, the highest offer is $50 less domain fee $10 less Flippa fee $19, leaving me with only $21.

I'm just not getting the bids or interest, although the site is plenty cool and worth at least $100 with all the hard work that's gone into it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated fellow warriors.

    Thanks

If you are serious about learning how to flip websites I recommend you contact fellow warrior member View Profile: nichescape

If you can't reach him here try skype or twitter.

Let me forewarn you...if you aren't self motivated and maybe have a some money to purchase a product from him I wouldn't contact him. Ask him if he would let you buy his WSO. Although, it is closed I have heard some really good things about his product.

I recently sold my main site that i had been building for over 2 years, and I was making money and it was getting some traffic

I got the bug and got really excited, and i have tried to sell more sites but the bids were just disappointing.

What i have learned is that a site needs traffic, and it needs to make money to sell. so the plan is to get a lot of content, lots of backlinks, profit and then sell the site

I have been flipping sites for a couple of years now and love it!
I started off flipping new blogs on flippa but now it has become so over saturated and these sites just don´t sell anymore.
I now flip sites that have traffic and an adsense income and they sell great. I have an almost 100 percent success rate with them and the customers are always happy with the results.

I think if you are selling what people want you can make good money with Flippa but you have to roll with the times and keep it fresh.

I think Flippa should only bill a seller $19 if a sale is made. And they should have some automated way of being awarded a Featured spot if seller has legit stats in place etc. I understand that would be difficult, but if it doesn't update its auctions, the scammers will soon outnumber honest sellers and the site will be shot out of the water by the next flipping site that implements these proper anti scamming measures.
Thats a great idea! Any Development team wanna make a better Flipping site?

Yes you can def make money on flippa, I currently make between $200 - $600 per flip selling turnkey Clickbank ready websites. I have also sold niche blogs however to make the best money they need to ideally be established, ranking for some keywords and earning some money ( even if it's not a lot ) as many people are looking for sites that they can take forward. You also need to be able to prove your revenue and traffic claims so having google analytics installed is essential.

    Hi!

There is a bunch of websites with an outdated theme or really retarded position of text, images or ads. Those websites can be bought and tweaked. You keep a website for a few months and get something out of the ads and than sell it often for more than you've bought it!

It's funny, (or not, depending on perspective) we've done pretty well selling our sites on Flippa for profit. One of our previous buyers contacted us when we sent him an email about a new batch of sites we had for sale, basically stating that he was thankful we mentioned or referenced the WarriorForum but now that we did that there was NO WAY he would go back to buying our sites!

He said that there were so many amazing deals on here for cheap and gave us a price comparison that made us look, admittedly, WAY overpriced.

Anyway, fast forward a few months later and I saw he opted-out of our email list. I emailed him asking if everything was ok and he mentioned he'd had his AdSense account banned so there was no reason to be involved anymore...he'd gotten caught up in some kind of spammy traffic play that was being offered on some of the sites he purchased...ugh.

Not sure what my point there was...but there's definitely money to be made on Flippa. Just know that if there's a deal that's way too good to be true, it probably is. (Try to put yourself in the seller's shoes...if there's NO WAY you would offer something at that price or you can't see how the seller could do it at that price in any way...you might want to stay away.)
