2600 subscribers and zero income?

I have 2 FB Fan Pages, both dedicated to dogs. One pitbulls the other is for labs. I have generated over 2600 fans in 3 days. That got me excited so I strated posting on my wall a CJ link having to do with dogs, a CPA offer for free photo submit to get 1K in a contest, and 3 Amazon links with pet books and pet food. All I have to show for this is 9 CJ clicks, 45 Amazon clicks and 4 CPA clicks and ZERO profit. What am I doing wrong you think?

It's a start, I'm encouraged to see you getting some initial clicks. I trust your watching the Facebook insights analytics.

Some pages getting initial visibility from hired likes from what may be bots or non English speakers, might start getting better quality fans and traffic as it's discovered through normal channels.

    EDIT
Though the broad rule of thumb conversion rate for sales pages is something like 1%, you should realistically need to get a few hundred clicks on a fan page before you can truely judge it's effectiveness.
I understand that the going CTR for paid Facebook ads with traditional pitches is something like 0.15%, I assume similarly you should not expect a fan page conversion rate to approach a targeted Adwords campaign.

      You need to focus on:

      - keep the fb page updated with relevant info/discussions (not just affiliate links)
      - test different ways to monetise. You are trying cj, cpa and amazon but try different types of offers, until you strike one that works. If you can't find an offer that matches the audience perfectly, try and find one that has mass appeal. If you don't know what has mass appeal -> test! Also try posting at different times of the day and measure clicks.

With testing and tracking, you can optimize and start making money out of your fan pages.

      Woow.. That is shocking

The list seems to be targeted and you are giving targeted offers but if all your fans receive from you are constant promotions , they are not going to want to pull the trigger and buy

So , i would say post wonderful articles about dogs , beautiful quotes

and them what their big frustration is about their dog and from there you can do a video review of dog product that you recommend

      My suggestion...

I mean, they have been a fan for 3 days and your already blowing them up with ads?

Take your time - you should be posting good content first so they start looking, liking, reading and trusting...

THEN when you post a link to a CJ product they will swoop it up...

Remember - these are "fans" treat them as such...

Coby has hit the nail on the head, you have to build a relationship with them first before you start promoting. try and encourage interaction on your page first by asking questions. getting them to comment on your wall. then slowly promote to them

Very well put Coby. I've mentioned somewhere else on this Forum about the existence of List Abusing. I'm not saying you are doing this, and the easiest way I know of of preventing it is to hold back on the "Buy Me" links until you have put alot of content out. Seems a few here agree

Keep trying mate, you are making progress, and you have a targeted list, thats an asset Peace and Prosperity.

            hi,
happy to hear about your initiative.Although it is not a big number of clicks but it is obviously a good start.

I would suggest you the following:

1.Try to get fans from your target market.
2.I think search engine will give priority to your fan page if you update it regularly.
            3. put as more relevant contents as you can which will really help your reader and fans.

2600 fans with in 3 days? I don't think you can build such numbers with in short period of time. building the fans with huge numbers won't give results(Thats where many people get around with none) building the natural/quality links will makes you for expected results.

Find the people who really interested in your niche fan page. increase the user engagement ( comments, likes, shares) and following days your will find some good conversions. Best of luck.

You also need to research the product you are promoting to your list. Don't try to sell something that looks cheap/low quality just to make a quick buck. I would also stay away from those type of CPA offers you are promoting to such a new group. You need to give this group time to grow and maintain reliable followers.

Focus on the Amazon clicks - it's obviously more what the people want.

Create things that those people will actually want to use. Don't just try and make them pay you for something because they won't - it's all about creating things of value

Do you mind me asking how you got 2600 followers in 3 days? Are you offering them something? If so....then you need to be able to monetize the offer...but without knowing how you ghot your fans...its almost impossible to tell you how to properly monetize them...

      coby is correct.

imagine if you were one of your 2600 fans for some other facebook account. would you be clicking on the ads you are putting on your site, or buying the offers you are promoting.

People on the internet get too caught up in numbers and forget that there are real people behind every number.

people dont just pull out there wallet and start spending money. i wish it was that easy.

Think of it from your customers perspective, try to put yourself in their shoes.

Thank you all for the feedback. These FB fan pages are Facebook.com/Pitbullowners and Facebook.com/LabFans and today I checked my stats and still havent made a dime. Over 76 clicks on Amazon links alone yesterday, over 20 clicks on CJ and still shows less than 5 for my CPA Offer. My CPA Offer is a free photo submit for a pet in order to be entered into contest to get $1,000 at end of month. So I am getting the clicks but no closes.

The strategy for getting quick "likes" using targeted ads does work. I watched a 100,000 fan page being built in 24 hours for about $1,000 or about 1 cent a click. Some of the bigger FB OSO's are showing this. But converting sales is all about building trust and interaction. Some recommend a ratio of 50 to 100 posts of content before an offer. Even without this level, you should add some content like has been recommended by others here. Remember the general rule in sales typically require 7 to 18 contacts to close.

You have to remember with no relationship this is cold marketing which has a 1% to 3% sales ratio. If you have 2,600, then 2.6 possible sales. When you get 100,000 your bound to make more sales. Imagine the return with relationship and trust built.

It likes you dont have target visitors for your products. And 45 clicks for Amazon is not high. I have the similar social account and Amazon conversion is very low, about 1000 clicks /sale. Research and test to find down what your visitors want and give to them, for sure not free .

In the dog niche, try getting your fans really involved. They're such a passionate group.

Run a contest for best dog pic, or best dog video, or best dog name...something like that.

Get them clicking OTHER things before you expect them to buy from you. Condition them to click when you post something. It builds trust and helps make your brand resonate with them.

I had read an article two months ago about the fact that Facebook fan pages are not good for directly selling anything.

They work better as a motivation to visit your blog/site (where you’ll sell them something, or make them accept an offer).

I definately would. My links are usually inresponse to a question I posed to my fans. My combined fans are now over 3,000 by the way.Gotten 400 new ones just this morning. For example I asked a question about shedding labs, I got many comments and some mentioned this vacuum attachment. So, naturally, I posted an Amazon link to that vacuum with pet grooming attachment. People clicked on it but zero sales.

Thank you so much for all your suggestions. Since I am still a newbie I wanted to make sure I am not wasting my time and money (even at 3 or 2 cents per click). My take on this is two fold:

#1 I should continue building my list, and get it to maybe over 10K fans? and add value and only post affiliate links AFTER some time OR

#2 Choice 2 would be to redirect them to a blog of mine (maybe dog focused) and promote my links there?

My question if choice #2 would be, if these are the exact same people that go to my FB Fan page than then would go to my blog what difference does it make? They are still the same people and am actually adding an extra step. Why can't the model of posting on my wall work?

Even at the loss of some sales, it might be worth lowering the chances of getting banned by moving your ads off Facebook, particularly Clickbank links are routinely flagged as spam.

Your fan's posts and pictures have been touching, you too should probably have more dog loving content than advertisements in this social environment.

start sending your fans some useful content such as blog post and articles, videos etc before you start promoting. You can't expect your fans to buy stuff from you just after 3 days of becoming a fan. Have you actually tried building a list? I dont think a fanpage is a good place to sell things.

Load them up on more value don't be like a lot of internet marketers and blow them up with offers right after they joined your list. It is a turn off to get offer after offer without adding any value, training, or getting to know them by building your reputation, by giving them more than you try to take. Nothing worse than a greedy marketer.

I hate to say it, but you don't come off as a dog lover. You come off as a marketer targeting dog lovers.

Think about it. I click one of your ads and arrive at your page. There are a few questions, but every time someone mentions a product, there you are with an affiliate link. As for the CPA offer, is it one they have seen, or may have seen, on many other dog-related sites they visit?

There isn't much money in sites just about dogs unless you really know how to work it. I had a few dog breed related websites with lots of traffic and only made about $50 a month from the sites, now sites with the same traffic make me $500 or more a month.

Also making money from facebook pages is hard to do, you can easily get your publishing rights taken away if you post to many sales type links

It's only been 3 days you say, hey, people talk, it's facebook after all! Once those few clicks start clicking some sharing buttons you'll have 10,000 likes in record time, clicks will double, even triple and then you'll start smiling.

The key is perseverance and staying positive, always!

As AnilK says, don't just post links, post nice (but short) articles on there, after every 3 or so post a link and be like: "hey, check this out" kinda post.

Keep it up, sounds like you're doing a pretty good job!

Well, step out of your shoes and into your fans shoes for a minute. If you went on Facebook and you became a fan of something you liked, or in this case a type of dog you owned, would you want to see spam looking links constantly. Personally, I would have blocked you or deleted you completely.

You have to give good FREE content and use soft promotions. You cannot just blast out promotion after promotion and expect people to buy or even care about what you have to say. It is like building an email list and it takes time to gain the trust of those that are your fans. I have to deliver on what your fanpage is supposed to be about and overwhelm them with great information for free. Then, promote a little bit and you will see better results.

Yes, I read an IM product recently where the creator had a dog FB fanpage setup and did the photo contest. He did state that he had to provide some good wall content before he could market a product. It's all about how you approach you fans. Something like " I love the picture of your dog that your submitted to our contest and thanks for contributing to my fanpage and by the way did you see the new ebook about how to train your dog in 30 days". That's when you pass on your affiliate site to the ebook. The most important aspect to selling on FB is building relationships before you put out an offer. People are passionate about their pets and you need to keep that in mind when you market to them. Go figure it's a social network. People that actually spend time on Facebook are there because they are bored. Keep that in mind as well. Now I am going to say I have never tested this process so I am not sure of how effective it really is.

Facebook users are not like Google searchers, people go to Google to look for reviews, to search on deals, etc so they are in the buying mood. facebook users want to socialise and hang out with their friends, they want to see funny pictures, funny videos, read funny news feed, they dont want to be sold to...the point of fan page is to socialise with your fans and then redirect them to your website through blog posts. Dont post affiliate links or promotional messages on your news feed, it will not work.

If I see the strange links from a strange people, I scare to click it and buy anything or put any personal info also. I suggest you to give some free gifts to your fan to get more trust before sell anything.

Remember that this is a "social" networking site and it was primarily created for that purpose....Come on it has only been 3 days...you should first build some level of relationship and trust with them, being called "fans" doesn't mean they are all gaga over you or your products...Update your page regularly with fresh content. Get them to interact with one another and perform some activity within the page such as commenting or posting.

A lot of good advice here, I may not have anything very new, but if nothing else I can reiterate. Always always build a relationship with your lists. Build trust, give them value. Over deliver, then you can start marketing to them.

The constest idea is great, get people involved. It's like when you were in school and you had the same type of teachers, class after class, then the one teacher in 6th period got you to get out of your seat and get involved. Suddenly class was more fun.

Also, don't be afraid to take your FB fans and turn them into e-mail list members. Have them opt-in to your list. You can update the info page and post on the wall every now and then to let them know that joining the e-mail list is where it's at. More info, contests, etc. Entice them.

Now that they are on an e-mail list, you can setup your autoresponder and get them involved that way, build trust, etc. Remember people are on Facebook to goof off, pass time, chat, etc. You may hit them with an offer that they'd otherwise complete at another time, but not during FB goof off time.

Congratulations on building such a good fanbase so quickly.

It can take months of hard work to achieve what you have,
    so well done for that.

Selling directly from a link on Facebook can be difficult, so what
you probably need to do is build up a rapport with your fan base first.

You can do this by offering a free report on pitbulls or labradors, just
write something you know the owners would really like, such as favourite
    foods or training techniques.

Then in exchange for the free report ask them to join your mailing list for
more free reports as they become available.

You can use Aweber to deliver the report.

Then, in your free report, have a link to one of the items you
    are selling at Clickbank etc.

Now you have built up a rapport with your members, you will
find that they will be much more willing to buy from you.

This happens for a number of reasons, one of the most powerful is that you are now a friend and they will want to repay you for giving them a free report.

You will find that you with a list you can make some great money.

You can email them at regular intervals and it is a good way to make
    money from your Facebook fans

Get them to tell their stories. You're on the right track when you get them to ask questions, but you blow it when you answer their question with a buy link.

Try asking them to share stories - funny, poignant, whatever. Ask them how they cured a common problem like shedding or jumping or something.

Get them involved and let them teach you what to promote and when.

This isn't just a Facebook concept. It's human nature.

I forget the author, but he tells a story of taking a cross-country plane ride with an executive, and having an associate ask about the man when they landed. The executive raves about what an interesting man and brilliant conversationalist the guy is.

Turns out that the man's entire conversation consisted of asking about the executive, then following up with things like 'can you tell me more about that"...

The reason why you link to your blog and not directly to Amazon is to pre-sell the products.

Imagine a person on Facebook - they are there to socialize, upload pics of themselves, like random things, play Farmville and the like. They aren't in a buying or shopping mood at all!

If you write an article or post with a link to Amazon you are are pre-selling a product or at least getting them into the buying mood.

Facebook -> Dog FB Fan Page -> "7 Funniest Dog Costumes for Halloween" -> Amazon

Warriors, I am starting to see light at end of tunnel. I finally got my first 2 orders. My conversion rate is only 0.83% but it's a start. Thank you so much for the tips and will focus on relationship first and foremost. Selling second.

Just be patience and keep posting. There is a long way from becoming a fan to actually pull your credit card out of your pockets.
Another you could do is to work on taking your fans away from FB by offering them a free email course. Build a deeper relationship with them and then start selling. :-)

Warriors another question. I have noticed through my Sales Insights that I am losing about 10-12 subscribers per day. While this is only 1% of my total FB Fan Page Likes which is now exceeding 5200, it is worrisome. My question is twofold: #1 is there a way to decrease the number of unsubscribes, maybe post less? and #2 IN FB can I ask them to send me an email, which would then capture on my Aweber and then from there send them links to my affiliate links?

Are you sending them one message per day? I've found over plenty of lists that losing 0.5% or so subscribers for every "sales" message is normal. You just have to build up more subscribers faster than you're losing them. I would say post less often to lose less subscribers.

Number 2 I don't know, as I've never built a list that way sorry!

I send 3-4 messages per day. Is that too many?

if your selling to them right out of the gate your training them to pay less attention to your emails and content - ease back on the pitches and provide content.. build rapport then when you do pitch them they will be more amenable to listening

I cannot thank you enough for your input. I have tried lately to provide more value and not sell. Question: What is the best way to capture their emails?
