I make about 100 bucks a month on fiverr also... It is an easy way to make a buck or two but instead of cashing it out... I re-invest it in gigs to outsource tasks that I don't want to do myself...

I think Fiverr can also be a good way to get your foot in the door.

For example once you've written that first PR, maybe you can talk to that person to get on a recurring writing plan.

If you can do a PR for them each week for $10, that's $520/year from one client.

That seems cheap for a Press release. I guess it would be down to what your time is worth. If you are a good writer you can make better money on other outsourcing sites. It might be a way to start and build a reputation. I would be careful though some people expect a lot for $5.

Look... if it makes money, do not abandon it. Find a way to spread it, make it easier, or outsource it.

Just try to scale it. Maybe for a week or two. If its manageable, keep it going.

I am not sure how you are going to scale a service that costs $5. There are upsells on the fiverr sites but with Press releases I am not sure what you can upsell. If you are an excellent copywriter (sales pages) you can make some serious cash with IM gurus. If you are a good writer period spend some time writing information reports or ebooks and make lots of money. You can have an army of affiliates sell your ebooks for you. I have my wife currently writing a parenting ebook which I think will do very well. People that can write good content are invaluable.

Well done on the sales, you will have to keep us updated on the progress. Yes a lot of people knock Fivvr, but it works and it really shows that you can sell multiple gigs in a day.

Also as you say it takes you 30 minutes to write one, so if you did 10 different ones a day thats $50 less the commission, and it is a nice little earner for someone

    Well done

Thanks Andrew. I will keep you updated. I have three in line right now, so I have temporarily suspended my listing until I get those done. I am actually a little worried that I would wake up tomorrow with twenty waiting... Fivver is cool.

You have a good point about feeling like you're underpaid with writing press releases. I agree that you probobly could be getting paid more for your work. But would you still have that large of demand?

One thing that I've seen done before in Fiverr is when sellers offer very cheap gigs to their customers and collect their email addresses or some contact info.

Then later they decide to open up a service for their gig themselves and do not use Fiverr anymore. They also price their services a little higher so that they make more with their customer base.

If you have some customers who love what you do, you shouldn't have a problem charging more.

    I hope this helps,

    Paul

Hey Paul. Thanks for the tips.

I just wrote my email in a Fiverr message box to a customer and immediately a little terms of service box popped up saying "don't do that."

I am a freelance writer and hate getting underpaid. Hate it! So I will probably stop with the Fiverr unless I really need the money. I like the previous idea to use the earnings to get other people to do Fiverr gigs. I need Header graphics for a few websites, so this seems like a good way to go about it.

Not surprised you are getting business on Fiverr if you are offering $5 press releases. I charge a minimum of $97 for a press release and that's the low end.

Honestly, I don't see how anyone could profit from doing any kind of one-on-one custom copy for what amounts to less than $4 in payment.

I can see some using Fiverr when they have templates easily changed or a repeat sales or automated product - but I think the excitement over Fiverr is greatly exaggerated. You can make "money" - but is the money you make worth the time you spend?

They can't. But in a pinch they can afford to eat that day. Frankly, it's not much different than the people in here searching for two and three buck articles. If people want to be exploited like that, though, what're ya gonna do?

Actually you are right about that. I write some for them. I wouldn't be willing to try to make a living at it though. It's good practice for writing in very strict format, though. Most of what I choose to write for them is stuff I'm researching for a certificate that I want to get and I'm just making some fast cash while I get the research done.

My rule of thumb is that I don't do anything that drops me out of a double digit hourly wage. If it gives me a single digit wage - they have to look elsewhere to find someone to do it - I don't care what the side benefits or purposes are.

You can outsource a lot of quality stuff on Fiverr. The 5$ price tag is most of the time a steal regarding the quality that you're receiving. If you would like to make money on Fiverr, just offer something that gives real value and orders would start coming.

The closer you can get to complete automation, the 'better' your experience can be as a seller on Fiverr. Unfortunately, complete automation is very difficult to achieve. There is, however, a bit of a grey area here based on individual people and their own capabilities. IF one is able to personally achieve a reasonable level of quality, with a tolerable amount of time invested, it CAN be 'worth it' to them. Also, if you work it right, such gigs (like blog commenting) also allow the opportunity to link back to personal blogs, which also derive a benefit. So, if you can structure your gig, to add an additional benefit to yourself, then it can actually incur you MORE than just $5 ($4).

Those who offer to right reviews/articles, and post them on their own revenue sharing platform accounts, also stand a chance at earning revenue share on that account--an additional benefit that most buyers could care less about (just so long as they get the article they paid for).

    • There are easier ways to make money.

And if money is all you want out of Fiverr, you probably won't find it very rewarding.

The social opportunities, on the other hand, are immense and largely untapped. Sure, you can use LinkedIn if you want; it's boring as dirt. I like Fiverr because I meet other marketers who need stuff. Sometimes I can help them myself; other times I connect them with someone else in my network.

      That's how you gain influence.

      You play well with others.

This is key. The more automated you can make something, the more orders you can handle, and the more happy customers you can have. If the gig takes longer than an hour to do, it's probably not worth it...however, if it takes 30 seconds...then you have something.

The real challenge would be delivering something that takes you very little time and with value for the buyer for just $4(after Fiverr takes their $1). It would have to be something with a decent volume of sales to make it worth it since the price is so low.

Yes, Fiverr is an awesome way to see WHAT people are paying for but in my opinion any of the good services on there are selling themselves way too cheap but hey that is what makes it work right?

If you have found a service that works well - why not add a little more to the package and scale it so you can charge more for your services?

Or make sure you are collecting a list of clients and then introduce a new ultimate service?

You can try the same business model that I have used and that is working really well for me right now. I get clients through Fiverr and when I send them my work in a Word document, I add a thank you note at the bottom of my file that has my website address in it. I let them know that I offer similar services on my website.

On my site, I have my offer, along with paypal buttons so that they can pay. For you, you could change your Fiverr offer to a press release of 300 words. Then on your site, you can offer press releases of different lengths for more money. You could also offer a subscription service for 4 new press releases each month.

So far, this has been a really great way of getting new clients.

Fiverr is a good site to make money. The 10% fee will cut off much money, but with the huge traffic, you can easy get order. I makes more than $100 with Fiverr with each 10 min. job, and I also see some WF members make thousand on Fiverr. It is a gold mine to digg.

Fiverr is a nice way for those who would like to dip their foot into offering services. Do not though that you don't get the money straight away, it takes two weeks before Fiverr deem to release it.

It takes time on fiverr, and i used to think that their fees are high too when i used to be seller on their website (I do the work and they get 20% why ? :confused, but to be fair once I started my own website similar to fiverr and to be more "Attractive", i offered 10% instead of 20% and threshold of "$5" (which mean my fees goes to PayPal and i just got to watch ), I felt fiverr is not really charging much as PayPal is the one who actually making most out of it.

By the way it is true that fiverr is a place for people who want to dip themselves into offering services, but i would say if you do have digital product that you welling to sell for $5 and has a high demand, that would be kind of easy money.

Selling a program that you upload to a share server then sell it 10 times, you make $40 on fiverr and all you did is send that link 10 times, doesn't sound as much work to me

For service providers, the essential thing is to offer something of value that you can still manage to do quickly (for me, that meant under 15 minutes). Used correctly, and as a marketing tool, Fiverr can open a lot of doors.

I like that approach too, you use Fiverr as a means of advertisement, more or less... you offer a little bit of what you can deliver for those $5 and hope they contact you directly for more. Great idea!

OP, how are you planning on using Fiverr as an upsell if they prohibit outside communication?

I am curious about what you mean by a press release? Do you write about their website or something?

    Any information would be appreciated!
