Traffic and Alexa

Is it possible for you to get public traffic without alexa knowing about it?

There are lot of people who claim that their website gets big traffic but when I check alexa report then it either has no data or the ranking in millions.

Am I missing something?

    Your missing the whole picture, Alexa ranking only tracks those who has the Alexa toolbar installed which is literally only installed by "Internet marketers"

    So Alexa ranking means literally nothing on terms of stats rankings etc...

    I have an adsense website ranking top 10 for 15 keywords generating over 500 visits a day, but the alexa ranking is non-existent.

    I'm afraid so, yes.

    The only traffic it can possibly monitor (and not very reliably) is users of the Alexa toolbar, and most of them are internet marketers anyway. It's a waste of space. (And I'm ready to use the domain-name any time they've finished with it.)
