What does a monetized WP site look like?

Hi

I am a newbe with internet marketing. I want to set up a Word Press site but have no idea what a monetized site looks like.

I have read a lot and have learned/am learning SEO but don't really know what I should be aiming at. I've not had a great deal of experience with WP.

Could you let me know if you have come across any WP sites you admire so that I can view a few examples of successful sites?

Thank you:confused:

  • This is like trying to feed a horse by stuffing alfalfa up its tailpipe.

First you build a blog that is unique, useful and contributes to the conversation.
But if the idea of blogging every week with no monetary return doesn't appeal, you might want to consider a different business model.

As long as it really was coffee, and not alfalfa-juice ...

There are a hundred ways to monetize a site. For example, I have sites monetized with adsense, amazon products, and then sites that don't have anything to click on anywhere except to opt-in to my list to get a freebie- those are sites where I only monetize through email.

Like fluffycat said above, quality content is the biggest thing by far to ever monetize a site- there are no mind-blowing tactics to monetize a site that only gets a few visitors a day.

Like the post above indicated, it depends on how you plan to be making money. There are many people who are very successful with one site, whereas others have hundreds of sites in order to profit.
      Here are a few methods
Text link advertising, direct sales, PPC, banner ads, affiliate programs, paid reviews, parked domains, selling ad space, RSS feeds, job boards etc...

You may need to do a lot more research before you decide on how you are going to monetize your site.
      Good Luck

This is what I was looking for although these look way beyond me at the moment.

I recently bought Paul Prissacks SEO Recipe and Wicked Simple Cash by Shawn Anderson, both that have very good reviews and when I read them I think I can do them (or at least I am going to try!)

It is this kind of blog I was thinking about. In particular simple info with adwords, or amazon. I was thinking that I could start out using their models. I know SEO Recipe comes with an example but was wondering about the other model of blog with info and adwords/amazon etc.

Thank you to all of you willing to give advice to us newbe's!

To market other products you must first join affiliate programs such as Commission Junction, ShareaSale, LinkShare and Google Affiliates. But in order to be accepted, you must have quality content and they must see potential in your website. After you have been approved for certain advertiser's, you want to place their banners in appropriate places throughout your website. Takes a lot of work, but it is worth it!

I realize that I need good content (which I believe I have) and that I need an affiliate product etc but I just wanted to actually see an example of what I am trying to do.

It is one thing to follow instructions from a WSO and quite another to be sure what the final outcome should look like.

That is all I mean. I just wondered if any of you have come across something that is working (or you think it is working) in this kind of area (blog plus adsense or amazon).

I just need to see a couple of examples, not to copy but to give me some kind of idea of what I am doing.

They look exactly the same as the non-monetized ones... the only difference being they make money
