[POLL] Why Do You Buy WSOs?

14 replies
Hey everyone,

I was recently thinking about why I have bought WSOs in the past and why I still do now. The reasons have changed a lot and the types of WSOs I buy are different these days. What I'm wondering is...

Why do YOU buy WSOs?

P.S. Please no "every WSO is garbage" type discussion - we all know it's a mixed bag when it comes to the WSO forum.

    I usually only buy them if there is something specific I already know I need. I try not to spend too much time in the WSO section.

      I buy fairly regularly with the perrenial dream and hope that some "new" tips and tricks in any of the shiny new objects can be faster, better or cheaper than what I'm doing now. But alas, it has never been so.

        lol a dangerous yet accurate appeal of WSOs

        I've noticed that sometimes after I've spent a little while surfing through the WSO forum, all the positive "you can do it" sales copy eventually puts me in a motivated mood (even if I don't buy anything).

        I feel the same way. I suppose if you are an active reader in any niche you are likely to come across most (all??) the info for free before anyone ever compiles it for pay. I know that there are a lot of cool tips and tricks that I have found just reading seomoz that I haven't found in a WSO and would have been impressed with had I gotten it in a WSO.

        P.S. Thanks for the responses and participation in the poll everyone.

    To improve my business. If it looks like it's going to give me a good ROI, I'll bite.

    With that said, never been let down with a WSO.. every one has given me something that I can use - even if it's a single line that sparks a new idea.

    I look for something that will supplement the knowledge I already have (regarding the method that I am working on. I used to chase everything, and although I wasted a lot of money it did teach me not only the basics, but how to be smart when buying products. Now I stay out of the WSO section mostly, and when I do go in I have a plan for what I'm looking for and what I'm willing to spend. If I can't find it then it's "oh well, next week then." Amazingly, I haven't made a bad purchase since my mindset shifted

    I have paid significantly more money for products outside the WF that had way less value than I get from the incredibly discounted WSOs. Not all are great but the risk is small. Some have been priceless for just pennies.

    You do have to use your judgement and not overdo it on buying too much. Pennies DO add up to dollars.

    I only buy if it is to learn something new about what I am currently doing. I don't want to split my focus.

      Yes, sometimes it is something I am looking for, but sometimes it is for entertainment purposes only. I didn't see that option though.

        I chose "Fulfills a need", but I think the real reason might be "because I'm stupid and I believe the hype."

    Hi,

    Rather than wasting my time trying to learn a technique or a tool on my own, I chose to buy WSOs to learn them quickly.

    The added advantages are :
    => Lesser Trial & Errors
    => Lower the risk of costly errors
    => Lower my fears and anxiety
    => Step-by-Step Guide
    => Expert Insights
    => Practical
    => Can start immediately
    => Great time saver

    For How-To tools, I will buy only 1 WSO.

    For techniques, I will normally buy 2 separate WSOs for the same topic. It will enrich me with 2 different perspectives on the same thing.

    For Strategies, I will buy 3 to 4 per topic. I want more exposures to valuable insights, depth and best practices.

    However, the best thing about buying WSOs is, I gained more acquaintances throughout the WSO threads. This is a very rare thing in other forums.
