Does it make sense to have social widgets on Squeeze Page!

Hey everyone,

I am putting up a squeeze page with the usual elements to make it convert like Great headline, strong compelling offer to entice optins and the usual.

However I am in dilemma as to inserting the Social 'share us' 'like' widgets like you see on so many sites these days.

Remembering this being a Squeeze page, does it make sense to have this widget or will it defeat the whole purpose of Squeeze page by distracting potential subscriber's attention.

Alternatively I was thinking to insert these widgets in the optin confimation page that follows. Will that be a better idea than having it displayed on the Squeeze page itself.

Cheers.

I personally think it would be much better to put the widgets on the thank you page.

As you already said, on a squeeze page you want the visitors to optin for you service, nothing else.

I don't see a problem to put the widgets on the thank you page!

I don't think so it is good for squeeze page, however for thank you page, you can try it.

Maybe I'm missing something, but don't many people put the download link for their opt-in freebie on the thank you page?

If so, why would you want people sharing that, rather than the squeeze page? It would be like setting up an Adwords campaign, and sending the clicks directly to the download page...

As for the Squeeze page itself, putting social widgets on the page seems like a distraction. You want visitors to do one thing - opt in. You don't want to get them thinking about whther or not they want to click a button to share the page.

If you are using a blog or other content site to feed the squeeze page, it seems to me that the place for the social widgets would be the page linking to the squeeze page.

        I see what you mean.

I should have cleared that in the initial post.

The social widgets that I can insert in the Thank you page basically will link back to the main index page of the squeeze page, so I am getting prospects to share that page and not the email confirmation/Thank you page.

I know with Facebook social plugin like their 'like' button, you can nominate the link which you are looking for to get shared.

I would not add that to a squeeze page personally. While it may give the page some social proof, it's a bit of a distraction.
