Anyone have experience with textbroker.com?

If this is the wrong sub-forum, sorry, I'm a noob...

So I took people's advice from my introductory thread and discovered textbroker.com. I looked at their example of a "level 5" article and I'm confident that I can deliver the quality writing that can earn me $25 () for a 500-word article. My big worry is that their website states that they have 100,000 writers but only 30,000 clients and receive only 10,000 orders per month. I'm sure that a large fraction of their writers have flaked and are inactive but this still means that there's huge competition among writers for orders.

Does anyone know if it's possible to earn an even remotely steady income from this company? Any tips are greatly appreciated.

I've never logged into textbroker and not found tons of assignments to take. I think the majority of the signed up writers don't take anything.

As to the $25, don't count on it. They are very strict about raising someone to that level and I don't know of anyone who began there. Most people start at Level 3 or lower and then need to work up to Level 4 by doing excellent work.

So yes, expect plenty of work, but don't expect great pay. I haven't used them in ages now, but I used to go in and grab an assignment between clients or when I had an odd hour to work. I would consider it a filler job, at best, but they do pay when they state they will. Occasionally, they'll give you ways to earn bonuses, too.

Never used it myself. The first time I heard about it was from Sean Donahoe (creator of Extreme Niche Empires, Twitter Commando and Firestorm SEO). He uses textbroker for all his article writing needs.

Your thanks button will show up after a minimum number of posts - I think it's 5 but I'm not positive.

        Glad I could help!

Textbroker doesn't provide a constant stream of work unless you are a level 5 and can choose from every available assignment.

For instance right now there are a total of like 9 assignments available for level 3 writers and about 150+ for level 5s.

Work comes in waves. Someone will come along and post an order for a few dozen articles and if you are available you can snap them up pretty quick and make some easy cash. Other times you will log in and there will be nothing but work above your level or a bunch of L2 articles that are not worth the time involved writing them.

If you are just starting out and looking to build up some cash, then textbroker isn't AWFUL, just don't rely on it.

Wow, things have apparently changed, probably as a result of people panicking about the "Panda" update.

I just checked and there is a lot of work if you're a 4 or 5 star level, but not much below that right now.

If you qualify as a 4 or 5 star at Textbroker, you'll get a lot better rates elsewhere.

I started at level 3, after 2 months I was moved up to level 4.

Which is cool and all, but the rates still don't compare to what you could be getting if you were to write for, say, break studios - where they pay 8 dollars per article regardless of the word count.

Also, once you reach level 4, you will notice that the clients you are writing for want WAY too much for such a small price. I actually went back to doing level 3 requests for a little bit, until I ultimately just stopped using TextBroker at all. I still have my account and it's still a level 4, but I doubt I will be going back there.

Maybe as a proofreader, but not a writer. Which reminds me... I can retake the proofreading test on there by now.. It's been over 3 months since the last time I took it.. perhaps I should check it out.. lol

The experience actually differs fro each person. I know some who are level 3 and could make $80-120 for around 5 hours of writing, and then I know one who is at Level 4 and have never written any yet...I would suggest setting up your own blog though...

I'm a buyer , not a writer. But I love their writers. Knowing you all are writing for them makes me more confident in that decision. I've been using them for 2 years and have only had 1 bad article. And kudos to you TB writers. You are awesomesauce.

Thanks for all the responses guys. I think it would be best to at least give TB a try and see how much I could make. Maybe I might really good at it but if not, then at least I'll be able to make some starter money that I could invest in building websites.

BTW, I've noticed that a lot of people have suggested that I should create blogs. I remember reading in the books that I bought about IM that large, content-rich websites rank high in search engines. If I really went all out and started cranking out *dozens* of pages of content for multiple niche blogs everyday, would that be more profitable than focusing on TB even if I turn out to be good at it?

Hey guys, I have been a writer for TB for ages no but never have I been promoted above a level 3 standard, despite my texts earning high praise and positive feedback. I write for other "content farms" like Seed and Independent Publishing, and have been able to work my way up their ranks. I appreciate textbroker is a bigger fish in the content pond, but it is incredibly frustrating. Any tips on what I can do?

Susan, send them a message and ask if they could consider raising you to a class 4.

Thats what I did and they moved me up immediately. But I also never had any rejections so if you do, that might prevent it.

I have been a level 4 author @ Textbroker for about a year now. Started out at level 4 and haven't moved up or down. I did apply to be a level 5 author but was rejected. (If you do this, be prepared to to have your next 5 articles nit-picked to no end. )

I have written any articles in about 3 months, but if you're willing to set aside a few hours a day and are a relatively fast writer you can earn $25-$50 a day. Be prepared to go insane though if you don't like to write.

TB is a pretty good alternative to a part-time job if you need a little bit of money to help you get by. But you have to be VERY dedicated and willing to treat it as a real job.

I used to write a few articles a day for "fun" money, or just extra money to put into domains, advertising, whatever. But I burned out after a few months and have moved on to other things.

I started off at level 4 a few months ago. I was doing 20-30 articles a week. Textbroker rated my articles yesterday (not even all of them, they still have 200+ to look at). I got mainly 4's and a few 3's, and I wound up getting bumped down to 3. :-/ I'm willing to fix the mistakes I made, but there is a lack of work at levels 2 and 3. I've literally been worried myself because I have no idea when I'll be moved back up to level 4.

When you apply, do your absolute best. Check out the TB blogs and forums and try to get a level 4 rating.

I've had some experience with Textbroker, but have not done anything with them in a couple of years. They are not something that you can rely on for a full time income, since you never know when jobs are going to pop up and when they are going to be gone. However, it can be a great part time job if you are a good writer with a good rating! Best of luck!
