Beginner: Need to make some money fast...

Hi,

I want to be able to start generating money relatively soon, so that I can kick my current job to the curb. It takes up too much time, and stops me doing what I really want to be doing.

I have heard people saying that I should offer a service - trouble is, to be noticed, and regarded means having done some SEO. Even though this is one of the services I'd like to offer, I'm wondering if I should get some SEO done myself, to boost traffic, and get things crackalackin? Any thoughts, or are there other ways that one person could generate decent traffic in a short time, and get people interest in the service?

My background is in technology, been in that game for 15 years - I love technology, so could possibly do something here?

Also wondering if there are any kind IMers out there who would take a good guy like myself under their wing, and help them along a little, with advice like, buy this, study this, do this, read this etc. It's currently slow as I research I find new ideas and ask, but suspect I will have to get back into doing what I have been doing soon as I will run out of cash.

Any ideas / suggestions / buddies around

Cheers!

I think that this is my problem more than anything, getting traffic to see the offer, whatever it is, and wherever it comes from.

I already have a few sites, which aren't going to win any design awards, but should be good enough, however no traffic to see the services.

I already signed up for elance, guru - will see how that effort goes. The difficulty with these services appears to be that they are naturally seeming to be focussed on cheapest service, which in the case of SEO cheapest is definitely not the best.

I will have a look at Amazon - I have used their books feed previously to try to sell, so I guess I need to be more direct, and find offers, and perhaps drive fraffic from Amazon to my site through reviews, and comments?

Martin. Just stop. For the love of god please stop.

It is just too painful to keep watching.

At first I thought you were a troll that came here to spam their forum link in posts that are pretty much useless but will get attention. But after taking a closer look it is just one big car wreck ... I know there is going to be blood and guts everywhere but i just can't look away.

My only conclusion is that you truly are a noob with no concept of what you are doing. So here is a few pointers -

Lesson 1 - don't tell people you are director of a SEO company and then go posting 'how do I earn money' posts. It just makes amalgexgroup.com look like a scam.

Lesson 2 - have an awareness of your public profile. Anyone that is interested in buying your $7779 SEO Traffic Tsunami package is going to Google your name and lead themselves right here. Doubt that is going to work well for you given your confessions here.

Lesson 3 - don't go writing over the internet that you want to kick your job to the curb and then go put into your LinkedIn profile where you work. Hope your boss does not browse the WF or Googles employee's names. Learn to use whois guards on your sites too ... annoy a few people and they might take it personally.

Lesson 4 - Don't go putting together a $7779 package and link from a forum where anyone would be hard pressed spending $300 to $500 (times 3 for your 3 month service) to get the same services.

Lesson 5 - Don't go offering a $700 website build service when you admit to having only a few sites yourself that are a bit ordinary.

Lesson 6 - Don't go telling people about your SEO company and services when you then admit freely that no traffic is your biggest problem.

Big players don't win in the SEO game. Professional companies do. You are giving the Aus industry a bad name. This is me being nice. I had pulled the flame thrower out of the cupboard to make this post all toasty and crisp, but toned it down. Must be getting old. After looking at your CV you have plenty to offer the industry. But go away, learn how the internet works and then come back. If you want to be a cowboy, try a cattle station.

This is okay. I'm happy to hear the feedback - albeit all negative.

Put in this way, my approach could be worthy of a bit of a toasting. I am enthusiastic about getting this going, so perhaps I could tone down and hold some information back. That's just me - I'm known for it; saying it as I see it - what you see is what you get (only you dont get to see yet).

Perhaps I can explain a little - I can and do make money with this business already, but it is not an online business (which is what I want). I'm asking in an online forum, where there are some fantastic people who are giving great advice, so that side of the business works as it should do, instead of being part of the large protortion that do not ask, and fail.

In terms of my boss - that's me. I have worked for myself for a while, where I work on projects, managing teams, and the like. I really enjoy that industry but it is no longer going in a direction where I feel like I'm helping anyone, which is important to me. My ultimate goal with this, is to have the system stamped out in such a way that I can have a charity up and running and cranking out good money each month.

The SEO services are currently aimed at business (that's where I am used to working, and where most of my contacts are), not necessarily at warriors - I am going to be shortly looking into ways to provide comparable services for the sorts of money that you are saying.

The comment regarding not winning design awards - the sites are functional, and I don't believe need to be the prettiest out there to make money, however I am happy to be corrected should this not be the case - I will spend time on the beauty once they are doing what they need to do correctly. I'd drawn the line so as not to get into analysis paralysis, or being a perfectionist.

In terms of the prices, these were calculated with advice and conslutation, the service is also backed by a team of people rather than being just me. From the perspective of SEO on my sites, I am attempting to do this completely myself, which slows the process down somewhat, whilst I learn the online aspects.

To be perfectly clear I have been dealing with software, initally writing software such as web sites for 15 years - I do have a great deal of experience, and I value my time, which is reflected in the pricing structure. I am quite happy to receive feedback regarding the rates, if you do believe them to be overpriced.

What I am interested in, however is how you think I should proceed if you don't think I should put up links to anything I do, or mention what my intent is? This is a forum, to discuss ideas, and generally learn isn't it? I would like to benefit from your wisdom and advice - let loose by all means, but what I'm looking for is a way to achieve my goals to improve so need suggestions on how to do so.

Thanks for the flaming, really I am cool with it. I'm listening, and now looking forward to your positivity and advice on how to really make this work!

          Thanks,

          Martin.

There is not fast money in IM. Only if you provide a service. In this forum you will find everything you. Just pick corner ( adsense, amazon etc) and make a plan and stick to it. And test and test and test untill you find the right mix..

This is not how it works and it is why so many people fail.

People do not realize there is no "start-point" and "end-point". Start your IM business part-time and grow it. Once it becomes stable and the income surpasses your "day-job", only then should you consider quitting.

If the title Re: Beginner: Need to make some money fast... is accurate, you are destined to fail. As with any business, an IM business generally takes time to grow.

I hear what you're saying - I'm not asking for a get rich scheme, I'm asking for very specific advice. I'm looking for a mentor to give me a leg up - so far the advice is very general, and I want to know as much as I can on a good way to start.

I understand that this is a business, and I seriously do no not expect it to be a simple thing to do. If I have one sales for the service, that's a start, I can work with that.

It is funny though, this advice tells me that most of the offers on here must be bogus - if it takes time, and there is no specific advice for success, then "I got for PR5 in 30 days", or "I made $1000 in my first day" simply are never going to be applicable to the people that they are targeted at!

Thanks for the advice - steer clear of 'em.

If you want to run an SEO service, study what other SEO providers on forums are doing and try to figure out why they are successful. How about making a (free) case study where you take a new site from zero to good rankings - could be a good way to get your name noticed.

Also, as others have said already, you need to tweak your attitude a little. Success is not an event; it's a process. And it can be a long process too. You need to work on making a little progress every day, not searching for a "magic bullet".

You can offer some good gigs on Fiverr. Use that as a stepping stone to a full time living online by taking on more lucrative projects.

Good advice. I like that one - the SEO zero to good rankings - that's sort of what I'm trying to do, to get the SEO gigs However, it would be useful to document as I go. I am starting to see what doesn't work already.

Never was I expecting to be an expert overnight, that would be ridiculous - I think it probably should be explained as, "I need a sale to keep the wolf from the door", "I am in need of good advice", "Please help me make my first $100", something like that. However, you know what they say about subject lines on forums that are contravertial?!

      Good advice, thanks.

You're spot on that offering a service is by far the fastest way to go - You do the job, you get the money, happy days. Offering a product is good for the long-run because at some point (in theory), you can take your foot off the gas a bit and live off of the list(s) that you've built up, but this takes years. You could buy a list today with 50,000 people in, but they don't know you for Jack, and don't TRUST you. That comes with time.

In my experience, I would advise you to look at your skillset and work out what you're a) Best at and b) Find enjoyable. Hopefully there's some correlation between the two. If you're good at SEO, enjoy SEO and love talking to people, then a career as an SEO consultant is the career of choice for you!

If on the other hand you're good at SEO, but hate doing it and hate dealing with people, you either need to outsource the work or consider something else. Maybe you're not the best at product creation, but perhaps you could learn, and ultimately enjoy that more?

Whatever you do, it's going to take up a LOT of your time - So the 'enjoyability' factor is pretty vital if you ask me.

    Hope that (rambling answer) helps!

Hi. My intention was to outsource - I find this sort of thing fascinating, what people are interested in, why they visit a site, and so on. The execution part is a little more tedious, but that's okay.

I definitely do enjoy talking to people, particularly helping them out - I also want something that I don't necessarily have to be doing myself all the time. I have a job where I can do that and get paid decent money for, but I'd prefer a bit of choice, lifestyle if you like. I think, I hope that SEO and outsourcing will allow that. Just need to make it all happen.

As with any business, building the reputation is going to take time - hence the request for something possibly to trickly a little cash into my pocket. Good for the motivation as much as anything.

This is one of the reasons why most people will fail after quitting their job and do some IM business. Always remember, there are NO shortcuts to success and IM business is not an exception. People will always have this idea or perception that they will be earning large amounts here in the IM world. Yes, that is true, but those who are earning that much did not achieve that figure in days or weeks. They spend months or even years to perfectly execute what they had learned from other people and themselves. By constantly improving, they are now experts in their own fields.
Do not just quit your job since you have this mindset of doing some IM business. Try to change that concept of trying to earn money fast.
You have the skill; you have the attitude of trying to learn more about the IM business, use that as an advantage and be patient. Start by learning the basics, as what fellow warrior wolfmmiii has stated, start as part time and try to learn how and what to do. When you already have the idea and information on what to do, master that and do some innovations to make some unique techniques for whatever niches you have to work with.
And lastly, commit yourself to this if you are really determined to earn some decent money in the IM business. Never give up if you experience failure since that will teach you to improve the next time. Good luck and always keep a positive outlook in life.

I absolutely agree with what you're saying - my job tends to suck the life out of me - expectation is that I should work many extra hours and live there, which makes learning a very slow process. I have been interested in IM for a time now, just didn't realise how great a resource this forum is.

What has actually happened is I am between gigs at the moment in my 'real' job, and thought that I would try to get as much done, some success with IM. I don't expect to be an overnight success - really I don't. I have had businesses for years, and understand that you don't just set them up, and they print money for you.

      Thanks.

I was going to tell you this same thing. Take some of the topics you are an expert in and figure out what type of phrases people are searching for that are on those topics. Then, create your own product: ebook, video course, membership site- whatever- set it up, and then start figuring out how to drive traffic to the site.

I have a lot of product niche sites and I use Profits Theme to protect the product pages or videos or membership pages, and Clickbank as the payment processor. Figure out the fastest way to do the things you need to get done, and just get started.

Yeah - the other businesses I have had - tried to do that.

I do definitely need to try and find something that I take for granted and sell it, that is absolutely right. My trouble is, I'm in a highly competitive industry where there are big players that make all the money, and I can also if I sell my sole. There are also small companies who work all hours and make peanuts - not really any better, is it?

My skills are generally in finding specific solutions for big projects, which creates a bit of a catch 22 situation. People know me but not my business.

I will definitely think on it a little more, keep asking questions here and hope that something rattles out of my dusty brain

      Thanks.

Possibly I do need to put my thinking cap on, but trult what I do is for governments, and large corporations, which currently I cannot compete with other provider of these services for. I will have to scale back in a big way, and that is probably wher the answer lies!

I know its simple but it is working
      TC!
Great - will give this a try. Was going to give it a try promoting my own site and services, so might do that first, I should hopefully see some impact. Then will do the same with CPA.

      Thanks.

Hi CPA is a good way to go if you do it right, I suggest once you join a company that you find the offers that allow you to Outsource Cash Incentive Offers. And use micro job sites to set up a autopilot system that allows you to hire people to complete these offers. Note that the offer must say that incentive is ok. This is not a super get rich thing but it works and can bring in some extra cash.

Also set up a Business paypal account and find affiliate offers that pay you 100% commisions. Market these offers and the money goes directly into your paypal account.

I'm interested in what you're saying here - please continue, as I'm not 100% sure what you're meaning. I get the outsourcing part - what is the "Outsource cash incentive offers" part - I will have to look around see if I can work it out.

Any recommendations on CPA companies to look at that would do this, and are good to work with?

Martin... It all starts with what's in your heart, which will then create your mindset. There are a lot of 'things' you can do in IM. There are tons of tactics, which work, but it doesn't matter which one you use if the user (YOU) isn't in the right frame of mind.

I know you are passionate about tech - as am I. However, more than likely, you know the technical side of things, not some much the managerial and entrepreneurial side.

I'd encourage you to develop your entrepreneur mindset - your business mindset - while you figure out what it is you want to do exactly.. And if you need help with that, feel free to PM me.

I think people have misunderstood me.

My job is management or on the senior technical site, so either doing something like heading up an I.T. department of a public company, or being a senior person designing I.T. projects, such as hardware and software.
Entrepeurial - have had a number of businesses, some reasonably successful - m very inventive - my problem has always been time, and the fact that my previous jobs have had a tendency to suck the life out of me, so no time to develop those things.

I will read the interview for sure.

Logo design is the fastest way to get money in the internet, if you can learn how to design a logo, you can join on some logo contest like MycroBurst, 99designs or hatchwise. I know cause I have earned some from competing from these contest.

You don't necessarily have to do SEO to offer a service. Set up a website and throw a signature link up on forums related to your niche in order to attract people to your offer. It's not very difficult.

One way you could start seeing results pretty quickly would be to learn PPC, but for that you need a few bucks to invest and time of course, but that's traffic you pay for and you will have it instantly...it seems there was a good facebook PPC WSO not long ago, you could look into it.

That isn't what I'm seeing, or particular the advice on here.

I have been doing exactly that, and clearly I'm missing something - so possibly it is the offer - what do you suggest to hook people in?

Like many said, the fastest way for a beginner to earn fast money is to offer SEO services, or perhaps even things like graphic/video design, if you're talented in it.

Otherwise, the best way is to build it piece by piece. There is no "quick money" route in Internet Marketing.

Experience means nothing. RESULTS mean everything.
I'll hire a 10 year old photographer who has great photos
over a photographer with 20 years "experience" with no so great photos.

If you want to offer SEO services - rank a website onto page one of Google.
If you want to offer SEO services to SEO providers
rank website about SEO on the first page of Google for the term "seo".

      I said quick money!

Page one with the term 'seo'. Okay...

What you're saying I partially agree with - the proof is in the pudding, however, part of SEO is picking the right keywords to rank with, ones that are achievable.

I agree about experience not counting for that much, skill is the key - however, how do you know who is skilled? Start by looking through the the ten year old photographer companies first, or experienced ones? I think it is often the case that those with a lot of experience do tend to stagnate, or become jaded.

      Thanks for the ideas.

As far as the SEO goes, maybe you should go to the company you're promoting in your sig? It' looks to me you are claiming to be an SEO expert, and yet you want to get someone to do SEO for you? Maybe it's just the way you worded it. I don't know.

If you are already an expert in SEO then you should know how to promote the service you are offering. Unless of course you really don't know anything about it and you are just trying to make a quick buck.

You need to be willing to work a few hours everyday on your business. Yes that means missing some of your TV shows, sports programs and even sleep.

The first thing you need to do is formulate a plan. Don't expect money quickly but rather put a 2-5 year plan in place and stick with it. Get some money together... all you need is $140 a year to get you started with a website and domain name.

If you don't have the $140 bucks then you need to make some hard decisions about how to get it. Give up some leisure expenses for a month if you have to, after all we're talking about your future here and if you're serious about it then you will find a way to get the $140 bucks.

Maybe you already have the money to get yourself going... fantastic!

So the next thing is you need to find something you are interested in and is making money for others online currently. When you find that niche go for it.

Work hard... put in more work than the money you are making at it now and in the future you'll be getting paid more than the work you are putting into it.

The end result is you have to be willing to make some sacrifices now and follow your 2-5 year plan.

I'm not coming to this forum asking to start a $10000 a day business with no money. I have money to invest, just not much of an idea what tools to invest in to help me speed certain aspects up.

I absolutely am readdy with my $140, or whatever it is - care to tell me how to invest it?

What about the 2-5 year plan - what am I expecting to be putting in there? I understand that planning and research (a business plan) is going to help me out, however even with the end in mind, I still would need to know *how*??

My advise is to do what you love so you won't be in the same boat creating a job that sucks the life out of you.
        ou fill their need?
That being said .. What do you love to do?

Take what you love and find forums, message boards, places where people are discussing what you love to do. Read them ... find out what the people need. Can you help them?

If you know the answers to their wants, put together an information product that solves their problems.

Find a need and fill it. That is always the way to make money.

If you can pull together some solid, high content training from your IT experience...I would create an info product. There is ALWAYS someone looking for a trustworthy source to learn what you already know.

Maybe it could be a video series for individuals that are looking to get into the IT field. I'm sure there are some pointers that you wish someone had given you when you first started. walk them through what to look for, how to be more efficient, more productive.

Then, go to Fiveer and have someone set up a blog for you, that way interested people will have a way to interact with you....and you will have a place to list some info and a link to your sales page for your product.

Start using the power of YouTube. Take a few of those pointers and shoot short videos to post up on YouTube. Make sure to use Keywords related to your topic in your title so people can find your videos in the search engine. Also, MAKE SURE to include a link to your blog ( or sale page ) in the video description. This will get you a lot of traffic looking at your information.

Write an article at least 3 or 4 times a week on your blog. Again, use those keywords that relate to your subject in the titles of your articles, and backlinks to your sales page in the body of your article...this will also increase traffic to your product.

Hope this gives you a place to start. Actually, if you do JUST these two things and be consistent...you will be on your way to building a nice IM business.

    Just Do It....

I have been looking at what they do there - and I think that that is a lot of the problem, fiverr is a really good site, but is based on $5 worth of work. That means that the effort involved may well be a lot less than it could be. I have had a look at a couple of the services, and have seen that they are using techniques like linking from free profiles with a low quality couple of words.
My concern with these sorts of services is that they are likely not get less than ideal results, and I'm not really sure that I want to create an 'slightly less than average' service. Certainly worthwhile looking at, even if it is to understand what not to do.

This will definitely get the incoming links, but it is questionable as to whether they will stick, or indeed how targeted the results will be.

      Thanks for the feedback.

There are fiverr clones that let you do jobs for up to $100 or more.

But- I don't think Fiverr's the best way to make fast money. It's VERY easy for your gig to get lose in the swamp of garbage, even if you're offering a killer gig.

Plus if you need money in your PayPal account today or tomorrow, Fiverr just won't cut it.

Then again, if you need money that fast, you better have a great skill to sell or be ready to sell your Xbox! (or children, whichever comes first)

Yeah - some of the stuff on there is excellent, but a lot of it is the novelty of being able to get things done for $5. Or put another way, generally you get what you pay for.

Do you have any recommendations for the clone sites that allow better quality services, and are good to work with?

No, I don't need money that fast - I just know that these things take a time to perfect, so I don't want to be at this for 6 months and not getting anywhere. A few sales within a couple of weeks is something I can work with and build on.
