Help... Partnered with a data collection company with a 470k list, NOW WHAT?

Greetings

Recently we partnered with a local data collection company, whose collected approximately 470k leads over the last year from field operations (door-to-door).

Now we've segmented the list by age and demographic and we have callers dialing nonstop for a wide variety of offers.

Now were interested in beginning an email marketing campaign, but were against the wall as we have limited experience in how to properly conduct an email marketing campaign of this magnitude.

So far we have segmented the list into 31 different groups, identified several offers to promote, but we've yet to pull the trigger.

All things considered should we include the html code that comes with most CPA offers, or should we be writing copy with a limited call to action for each offer we promote?

What auto-responder service would you recommend for a list of this size?

Also any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Curtez, You're in a most enviable position with an email list of 470K to begin your marketing campaigns.

Reply to first question: It's always a good idea to use the "creatives", i.e. product images & banners that the product owners provide for their affiliates. If the ad copy that they provide contains an attention grabbing headline, punchy bullet points and a clear call to action then they are worth using and testing in your campaigns.

Reply to second question: There are several top notch AR services at your disposal -
    1. Aweber
    2. GetResponse
    3. iContact
    4. 1shoppingcart

However, Aweber doesn't allow their customers to upload or import their own pre-compiled email lists (I can't say how the other AR services respond). In order to get your 470K list into your Aweber account then you must persuade everyone through a mass emailing to opt-in to your Aweber list.

Finally, you can also set up a stand alone auto-responder database software on your own website and then import your 470K list into that AR.

I hope that helps and I wish you great success in your new campaigns. Steve D.

No company that I'm aware of allows you to import email leads of that magnitude without paying a crap load of cash, if even they would let you at all.

I suggest starting your campaign offline through direct mail offering an incentive to subscribe to the mailing list (set up a list for the different groups you have identified).

Then you can start your campaign...

I have a similar problem with a website my husband set up a couple of years ago which now has 42,000 double opted in members. We have no way of emailing them because our ISP won't let us go through our POP3 account.

We have an aweber account but aweber wouldn't allow us to upload (they said we could do 2k a day, so we tried and they still declined it) even though we could show them where they had all opted in and then opted in again.

Anyways, I was looking at SendBlaster 2 - does anyone have any experience with it?

      Thanks!

Use iContact, they will allow you to import your list.

I think that no commercial autoresponder service will allow you to report this list, and their reasons for that are closely related to the reasons you need to be extremely careful how you go about using a self-hosted autoresponder solution to contact these people by email.

I think a careful read through this thread will help you.

What odds will you give, Andrew?! I'm guessing they clearly won't allow this one: it's effectively a "bought list", isn't it? If they did freely allow people to import such lists, I certainly wouldn't want to be using their service for my lists. Would you?!
