Simple yet CRUCIAL tracking question? :)

Hi, simple question but crucial for many of us...

I do a lot of adswaps with different people and I was wondering if there is some kind of system/software/script that allows me to track the conversion rate of each specific source of traffic and landing page?

I mean..you can do it manually but creating a different landing page for each adswap but it can get quite time-consuming once you start doing this systematically...

Is there such a system?

  • Not sure if such a script exists but one can be made quite easily using php, mysql and cookies. Essentially you will grab the referrer which will be the site sending you traffic. Then set a cookie with that site name. Once the user is in the thank you page (ie. page after successful purchase), you query the cookie and enter the cookie value into the db (mysql) as a conversion.

    • Sure, depends on the niche...in IM a lot of people are on Safeswaps...other niches nto as many as for the tracking to work you'd need both parties to be (paid) users..

  • Kudos to you on getting right the key point most people miss - tracking CONVERSIONS instead of traffic!!!

    Safe-Swaps will do this. You can also do this with Google Analytics or Hypertracker.
