It's all about Pop-Ups, please help!

Hello Warriors,

Have you tried having a pop-up message once a restricted tab menus are clicked?

We have a wordpress site wherein the viewers need to optin and confirm before they can access to all of the tabs.

For our main site, once the tab menus intended only for the members are clicked, I am planning to have a pop-up message that will say something like, please optin first before you can access this tab. (example: training tab menu)

If you happen to have tried, what did you use? How did you do it? Is this really doable? Perhaps it requires advanced programming, right? Please correct me if I am wrong.

Have you tried having a pop-up form as well once an image is clicked? Sorry if I am asking too much. I am just a little stressed out.

Your help will be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Louie

I have seen these messages but do not use them myself. A simple quick way to get results is to create another webpage with a strong call to action saying to access the material you must opt in and list what you get and another opt in box then hyper link the picture and have it opening in a new window.

Might be a quick fix although I do know its not what you are after but might help

In Aweber you can easily do this by taking the following steps (no real programming knowledge needed):
    * Web Forms >> choose your web form
    * in the dropdown menu under "Templates" choose "Form Type". From the dropdown menu next to this one, you can choose either Lightbox, Pop-over or Pop-Up.
    * In "Advance" you can configure your display options.
    * Follow your next steps and the pop-up optin form will be added to your site.

However, instead of a pop-up I would create a squeeze page with an optin (created in aweber also), through which visitors would be able to enter the training page. This way you'll get their emails and they will be redirected exactly to the page you want.

Let me try it Mark, I appreciate your suggestions.

      Warrior forum really rocks.

I think a closer variation to your original idea would work with popups.

What you'd need to do is have your popups appear on all freely available pages and only appear to people who are not yet subscribers.

If you use a membership plugin like WishList or the free membership plugin called: Membership: WordPress › Membership « WordPress Plugins

You can then place a membership signup form within the popup window.

If you integrate the membership system with Aweber you'll be building your subscriber list and giving people access to your restricted content.

Here's how I see it working very simply...

        1. Show a popup window on all pages of your site to people who are not yet members (this popup would appear on your free content pages). The tabbed content pages would not be visible until people joined.

        2. When people join they get access to the restricted tabbed content and they no longer see the popup windows.

Depending on your WordPress theme you could set it up so when people become members the tabbed navigation appears. I think a WooThemes theme called "Canvas" would have enough flexibility for you to control the tabbed navigation in the way you need (I use that theme a lot myself).

I might also consider showing people an exit page when they go to leave your site which is your full optin page, again only showing this to people who are not yet members.

I'm certain that doing these 2 things alone will have a massive impact on the number of optins and members to your site.

        I hope this helps.

I had encountered a lot of this pop-ups and for me, it is some kind of annoying that is why I am not using it. By the way, you can use links aside from pop-ups.
