What Am I doing wrong?

Okay so first hope all warriors are doing well. I'm new on the forum and fairly new to online marketing. I made a few bucks here and there but nothing stable.

Right now I'm trying to establish a kind of stable income. Anyways I was interested in offline marketing. So I went ahead signed up for clickbank and picked a high converting offer that I thought would work. It was the sat2pc offer. Like a one time fee for. Anyways I designed some flyers and had them printed then I had them passed out to houses. My cost was around $600 for 5000 flyers to be printed and distributed. I've had about 60 visits. 2 sales and 1 refund equaling to 12.44. So help me out guys. I'm trying to start offline and then carry it online. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Humbleleader

I admire your all out effort, it's typical to have to try several online offers and promotion schemes before hitting a winner. People quitting when they are on the threshold of success is a common story, they advice those in the testing-learning phase to "fail fast" so you can move on.

Guys who mail postcards to bought lists usually test at a smaller volume to verify the feasibility of the list and ad copy, I think 1000 names may be the min rental.

The Commission Overload course by Tim Atkinson and Kenny Cannon cover a couple of offline techniques for promoting CPA offers with very specific step by step plans and ad copy suggestions. Tim uses his car salesman background to sell local merchants on distributing flyers.

A few questions come to mind.
Does your area have high enough speed broadband for this service to work effectively?
Did you try it first, to see how many channels are available that viewers couldn't get via their regular service?
Their sales page claims some people pay $80+ per month for their cable or satellite. Seems steep to me, I'm on freeview! I pay nothing. Will people get the same channels using this service that they are otherwise paying $80 for?

I guess what I'm saying is - I think you picked a rubbish product with little hope of conversion.

Don't be put off - but choose your product more carefully next time.

I seriously admire your effort. I'm not a big earner online. Infact I'm launching my second website in a matter of week or so..but I've an advice here for you. Spending 600 bucks on 5000 flyers was definitely NOT a wise decision. What I suggest you is try the work online first.
There are few reasons behind it..
    1. Web hosting and domain name won't cost you more than 20 bucks. Add another 20-30 bucks on web creation if you can't do it yourself...here you go..you have a website that you can promote for a whole year..that's 365 days..its A LOT
    2. You can understand how customer react to the offer (Unhappy will do cash back)
    3. You can promote not 1 but as many products in the same niche as possible..so product diversity will tell you which offer is better and which is not.

Even if it takes you 4-6 months to get decent traffic on your site and analyze the customer reaction on various products offered by you..you can get a fairly good idea which product converts better and for what reason.
You can also put comments, suggestions kinda section on website to see what customer wud like to say for your service and offeres and WHAT ELSE they want.

After doing this..you're in a very good position to do the offline marketing. Do it with flyers or telephone..both will do...you can get the contact/email adderss of the visitors in the last 6 months and do the email marketing as well.

I'm sure doing this will give you much much better results that 2 sales and 1 cash back..
Hope it helps..lemme know how it turned out.

I think, you should surf this forum for more good ideas. There is a special Offline Marketing section here. Go there and learn what people are doing to make money offline.

Thanks to everyone glad you admire my efforts even though I feel stupid for wasting that much money.

Webapex- Will deff check that out. Sounds like a real good product.

rosetrees- Yea the problem is I bought a coarse on here and followed the plan. The guy supposedly passed out a few hundred flyers and ended up with around $500. So i was like let me say I'm unlucky and I get 1% from the 5000. Atleast that would about cover my cost. Huge fail!

HarryPothead_ hahah awesome name. Yea I understand were your getting and I was planing on doing that. Like I said I do have some past experience so I was planning on building a few sites. Anyways right now honestly I need to make some quick cash. Around $3000-$4000 and I took action and failed miserably. Now I'm thinking should I do this again with some cpa offers maybe they'll convert better?

Any thoughts on offers for offline marketing and strategies would be much appreciated

I don't think offline is the way to go if you want people online. Build a site, learn SEO, get an autoresponder, figure out something amazing to give away for free to your subscribers, make a squeeze page, get it to the point it has a good optin rate, spend your money advertising that, offer huge value first, build trust, and sell to the list, or that's what I've heard. I've made more money on Fiverr myself, at this stage.

Definitely consider CPA offers instead of just Clickbank.

Also, I dunno if your flyers were distributed or handed out- but actually handing someone a flyer is generally going to get better results.

60 visits and 2 sales... not bad. Offline is ok, but you should work online.

If you're starting out I suggest that you sign up for a blogger blog and practice with

    that.

    You'll get better.

When you feel like you know what you are doing buy hosting and a domain name.

Offline does reach a market, and a local one at that -- but it's not a good idea to just randomly deliver flyers. You didn't say how you decided where to place them.

Who's your target market? That should have been your FIRST question to yourself.

On a guess and without further research, I'd say the best market might be younger couples and men in particular and those on a budget. So several bulletin board flyer (with hanging, detachable URL) at a college would probably gain you more eyeballs and responses. Flyers in apartment building laundry areas would also get a better response (again, with some sort of card or item that they can detach and take with them.) Flyers at gyms and so forth -- places where your target market hangs out... less than a hundred flyers can be very effective.

If this thing gets sports channels, then advertising at games (and target that demographic on your sales page) will give you a better "bang for your buck."

What kind of URL do they have to type in to get to your sales item? Does the page have some support things (like how to install, links to channels, reviews, perhaps an RSS stream on upcoming movies on tv) or is it just a sales letter? I think that if you have a page that shows them the "goodies" they could be watching for free within a few minutes they'd be more eager to get the product.

Go back to square one and find out who your target audience is.

What do you know about your target audience? What are their needs?

Sounds like you just chose a product and went out there and started marketing. Good initiative, but bad strategy.

Instead, research a target community you want to work with, learn about their needs and then go about finding products and resources to help them.

Thanks for every ones input. I didn't just pick a flyer and pass them out. I found homes with less incomes, new couples, and went for that. Didn't go quiet as planned. Anyways I honestly want to start offline then move online. Doesn't have to do with clickbank or cpa, but I'm a newbie offline so it needs to be something I can know how to do.

    Thanks
