Anyone making more than $1.00 per subscriber from list???

Hello warriors. I need someone to help clarify something that I'm just not getting. Say for example I pay .50 per click on ppc. I get 100 clicks(visitors) a day. That means I spent 50 bucks adspend a day

Based on the rule of of thumb that a good responsive list will net you $1 dollar per subscriber, that means if I get a 50% optin conversion rate which is super high for ppc that would get me 50 subscribers a day which would be worth $50($1.00 per subscriber).

That means I'm just breaking even at a 50% conversion rate?? Even if it was a 70% conversions rate which is super hard, I'm only profiting $20 per day? Which is $600.00 a month. Not bad but...

Was I mistaken when I thought there was more "money in the list". I hope someone can tell me that it is possible to make $2, $3 or even $4 per subscriber. And do you think its possible to do with promoting products in the $30-$47 dollar price range in the dog niche??

Yes it is very much possible but it depends how active your subscribers are and whether most of the people in your list have actually bought anything from you before.

For one of our company's mailing lists, we have around 260 subscribers and we easily make more than USD 10 per subscriber every month..

Find ways to engage the prospects and money will come.

The $1 per subscriber per month thing is just IM myth - it's completely made up and random and definitely NOT a guideline or something you should base your business around expecting.

As always the answer to "how much is a subscriber worth?" is - IT DEPENDS!!!!!

    It's different for everyone.

It depends on your niche, your product, your backend, your interaction with your subscribers etc. etc. etc.

If you're selling to golfers then it could be that in the summer you get $10 per reader and in the winter $0 when you mail them an offer.

You need to do your own testing for your business and your niche and get your answers. No-one else's numbers mean anything.

People want to cut all the corners and make this a cookie-cutter business where you just run the numbers and then switch on your systems but it's not that simple.

It's the same reason you could be spending twice as much for your clicks as me and I'll still make 5x more for my spend, because we have different business models and different customer values - even for the same customers.

You have to look at the life long value of the list, that $1 value estimate is a per month average, you need to intermix multiple offers with list maintaining editorial mailings, the best kind, a list of proven buyers has good chances of making multiple sales to each subscriber, eventually.

I've read through your numbers a few times and they are confusing. You don't qualify a time period for the $1 per subscriber. However the above statement seems to say that you will get $20 a day from 20 subscribers.
Previously you say 50 subscribesr a day are worth $50 (break even).

The figure generally stated (true or not) is $1 per month per subscriber ($12 a year).

    So $50 for 50 subscribers is (50 * 12) -50 =$550 profit per year ($11 per subscriber).
    365 * 50= $18250 total cost of CPC
    365 * 550 = $200750 yearly value of your list after 1 year

However you will likely be looking to get you initial $50 investment back pretty quickly. That is the stumbling block a it will be difficult to monetize these superscribers fast enough to sustain the daily $50 payments without running up a monster CC bill.

Also the true value of those subscribers will be dependent on why they signed up or what they signed up for. If you offer a free something then a huge proportion will probably never buy anything from you.

If list building is what you want to do then consider CPC to actually sell something. OK your conversions may stink and you'll be lucky to break even. BUT.. compare that to $50 a day guaranteed spend for freebie seekers. 1 buyer could be worth 50 freebie seeker.

Now look at $50 a day selling a $25 product. If sales covert at 1% you will get 1 buyer on your list for $25. You can still offer a freebie to capture the non buyers (who by the way will be a lot more likely to buy future products as they have already shown an interest in buying this one). Even if you now convert subscribers at 25% your list will be considerable more valuable than all the "free report" ones.

If you can actually break even (or very near) on sales which is not that difficult, you will have an automated subscriber machine.

You will need to create your own product as this is more difficult to make work selling affiliate products as you need to capture the leads.

    Just a bit of ramblings

    Tony
