Is Flippa Worth It? Best Ways To Sell Websites Online

I have a website I am interested in selling that runs on Membergate software. Is Flippa the best way to sell my site (domain name, content and membergate license)?

Anyone ever sold anything on there before? Any tips or best practices? Is Flippa really worth paying for?

Yes flippa is the best way to sell domains and full websites. Most people are on flippa so, many people will see you selling you're website.

If your site is making serious money, and has at least a one year history, I would go for a broker rather than flippa. But a broker wants at least a $10K (10%) commission so they look for sites that they can sell for $100K or more.

You will get a better price with a broker, but they want the history, not the quick flip like most are going for.

Flippa is the best place to sell already making adsense sites.

    They sell SUPER FAST.

I have an adsense site making $20 per day, and on Flippa its had bids of $7,000+

I'm pretty sure it is. I recently put up a listing for a website I own and I've already got plenty of views and some people watching the listing .

I just started flipping websites so I can't say anything for certain, but I'm pretty sure that it's the best marketplace to sell in - especially looking at how much traffic they have.

My suggest is to decide if the site has more value because of the membergate license or because of the other assets of the site (traffic, revenue). If it's just the license, flippa may or may not be the best place to sell the site.

Well the site has a lot of content, hundreds of mortgage related resources as it was a members-only training site with sales and marketing downloads, templates and more. The membergate license has value too. Putting those both together, I'm guessing the site is worth about $15,000 or so just with the raw assets.

I'm considering putting some adsense ads on it as a way to generate revenue and have some passive income, but that takes time and to build up the traffic so would prefer to just sell the site off.

I'd guess again if I were you. You'll be lucky to get $1,500.00. VERY lucky. Put up some adsense or something, give it a month or two, and re-list it once you have some revenue to show. Mortgage keywords pay well, so if you can get the clicks, you can make some decent Adsense money.

What are the best days/times to list? Also what timeframes? Can I edit a listing once it begins? I have a draft written up and am about to start the auction but never done this before so any helpful advice is appreciated.

I do not like their layout, the new one, but when you have a look at the traffic there...and the message 1543 users online. That means the people browsing the site and a large majority of those are buyers. Then I think it is a good place to have your offers out there.

If you have a large website that is worth a lot of money then you should use a private website broker from Sedo. They have a huge customer base and customer list so they can get top dollar for high value websites and domains.

Do you think it is better to have a "buy it now" price listed or not? Does this discourage bidders? What about having a reserve price?

Flippa profit equation (from two recent listings): Website Final Bid Price-(Listing Fee+Success Fee+Paypal Transaction fee)=profit. Make it a positive number and you are golden.

What about the software that the site runs on? Does that affect Flippa prices? Obviously, Wordpress is free and very popular but what about if you are using a proprietary software like Membergate which has a license value to it starting at $3,995. Surely, that must add something to the listing?

Flippa is the best place to sell such membership sites as there are a lot of buyers. You could easily sell membership site with steady revenue for 10-15x monthly

Other than monthly revenue, does the software and content count for anything in the valuation? Is there a formula to use to settle on a price? Membership sites have a lot of other factors than a traditional business does.

To make a sale on flippa, your website needs to be proven... even if thats as small as $10 a month revenue. People who are expert website developers and IM'rs will grab them and revamp them to turn them into good revenue makers.

I would like to sell the website linked in my sig rather than just delete it, (its a 'tinkering' site that I have outgrown), but its not earning much so wont make much on flippa.

        Hi,

I just went to your auction and it looks like you already have a couple bids and when I got there it was at $600.00. I would say that is a good start even though they have not reached your reserve.

From what I understand, once you start to get a few bids, the auction becomes more attractive to the buyers and if your lucky, and a bidding war breaks out, you could win big.

Look at it this way, Selling a site on filippa is like doing a launch. If everything is in place, the launch could go gangbusters. If not, well?

You have a good start and I see that you were serious about selling that site since you actually listed it before all the comments were in. Sometimes, you just have to go for it. Good for you!

Thanks for the feedback. I figured I'd just go for it and see what happens. I've had over 160 views and 8 people are watching the auction. Makes me think they are waiting until near the end so that they don't drive the price up.

          https://flippa.com/2634225-mortgage-...unique-content

I'm not sure if my reserve is keeping people back from bidding. Maybe I should have started at my reserve price instead of $7. I started it low because I figure it would entice bidders.

Any recommended strategies for best listing sites?

My Advice: If you are just selling a domain name, then ebay is the place to go.

For complete websites that are getting traffic and/or are making money, Flippa is my 1st choiche.

The Membergate license alone is worth $3,995 so that should help add value if someone wants the software and is in the mortgage or real estate business. There is some residual monthly member income coming in from monthly subscription dues (about $500+ per month) but the buyer would have to be in the mortgage industry in order to update and expand the site. If the site is converted to free and based an adsense model, then there's no need to update...just use the old content for keyword-dense articles that pull in search traffic.

So far, there has been decent interest which is promising.

Flippa is the greatest place to sell your sites. I have been flip my 2 sites in last month and they are sold 100% without any upgrades. In other words, I only pay for listing fee ($19).

All you need, just make sure your site and sales letter on the auction are really interesting for the bidder to place their bids

Flippa is the way to go because they have Escrow.

And they also have the Trust rating.

Never ever deal with someone with a low or negative trust rating.

I'm not so sure about the trust rating. Most of the spammers there will simply shut down their accounts if they get a bad rating...it's not as robust as eBay's feedback system. What I would suggest is really researching the seller. Find out the seller's name, his background, etc.

Hi TryBPO, I'm absolutely aggree with you about the trust rating.

We need researching about who's exactly the seller that we want to business with. In my humble opinion, the research doesn't necessary if the seller has a couple of positive feedback at Flippa.

If the seller is new at Flippa, then the research is necessary to make sure the seller is trusted and great to business with.

There is an up and coming alternative to Flippa now - Rouper, not as much exposure perhaps yet, but going in the right direction with more serious buyers. They have a promo now - listing for $1 and no success fee in response to Flippa's outrageous success fee increase... I'd give it a try...
