I feel like I won the Super Bowl...

After about 18 months of hard work, several restarts, and plenty of back-end changes I finally ranked a website for the most brutal keyword ever.

I mean F****** brutal here.

It's not my site, but the company I work for's site. They've literally given me the ball and let me run with it, and after doubting myself too many times I finally made it to the dance baby.

We are going to do great this 4th quarter if I can just keep us there. We have been dancing all over page one.

First we hit the number ten spot and traffic spiked, and two days ago we hit the number TWO spot and our traffic straight up EXPLODED.

The keyword gets nearly 20 million EXACT MATCH global searches during one month out of the year. If that doesn't tell you the competition then I'm not sure what will LOL.

Anyway, I want to thank ALL OF YOU who have helped me along the way. I've learned a lot about marketing and even more about SEO on here. This probably belongs in the SEO forum, but I wanted some attention so I posted here, hehe! :p

I really do feel like I've won the damn Superbowl, or the World Cup for those where that matters more!

Of course half the battle was getting here, the other half is staying here!

Congratulations. I remember when I did this once for a client in a very high competition keyword. It took over five months and a lot of stress. It felt great once we made it, so once again, congratulations!

Great job... the "first dance" always boosts a persons confidence to doing it again and again. Aim for the moon my friend!

Especially a "first dance" with a keyword of this caliber. I've ranked sites with plenty of medium to low competition keywords, and a few high competition ones... but nothing like this.

Hence my Super Bowl analogy. Thanks for the kind words.

Thanks for all the kind words. Someone told me a long time ago was that when going after the harder keywords you are going to get frustrated far too many times. I never imagined how many times that would actually be. lol.

The site is still dancing, and its going to be a fight and a half to say where we are at--but I think finally we have the infrastructure behind us to keep us there.

No tools. Just had to build a pumper network from the ground up, utilizing all original content. So I guess the only tool I used was my brain lol. I've written so much about this niche that I dream about it when I sleep.

In those highly-competitive niches, you have to stay on your toes and keep moving forward.

Someone is going to be pissed that they lost their spot on the front page of Google or at the top of page one in Google, and they are going to throw a ton of money at unseating someone to get back to the top.

Your battle has likely just begun, and it is going to be more difficult to hold your spot than it ever was to get it in the first place.

Now that you're there, you'll be in the competition's sights so do what you have to do to stay there. Congrats.

Which means staying on top of the game. I have no doubt its going to be a war, especially as it gets closer to the 4th quarter. It was an amazing feeling to win this battle, but I knew a long time ago if we ever got here it was going to be even more brutal.

If I come back here in six months all dejected, I think its safe to assume what happened lol.
