Contradiction At It's Finest... This Takes The Cake!
Just watched a video of an extremely popular and successful marketer. The video was 22 minutes long and I almost fell off my chair when I heard him say:
"The biggest mistake people make when creating information products is selling themselves and their expertise instead of selling the solution or outcome to their problem."
Okay, I have no problem with that, except...
At the beginning of the video this marketer spends the first 10 minutes selling himself by showing you his office, his commute, and where he lives.
He then goes on to say, near the end of the video:
"Switch the spotlight from ourselves and how cool we are, in trying to sell ourselves, to putting the spotlight on the customer and what their problem is..."
He also talks about his products selling over $100 million dollars in profits, his giant lists and basically the money falling out of the trees.
Can you see the contradiction?
He spends the first part of the video "selling himself"...
Fancy graphics, professional quality video and the gift of gab can make people believe anything... I guess!
PS. Let's not forget about the mention of about 5 incredibly famous people around the world that he's met and helped as well.
FYI: I still like this particular marketer because he does have some solid ideas. I just thought this little 'gaff' was funny and an important marketing lesson in and of itself.
